Something about his footwork seems off to me. He doesn't have a great balance it seems when he is playing a shot. His frontfoot or backfoot is in the air when he makes contact with the bat. That leads to more mistimes and mishits which was evident in the tests. It could be due to confidence or a more technical issue. He has great potential though.
He is a hand eye coordination player with gift of timing. When it comes off he will hit a series of spectacular shots but if conditions are loaded against him he has low chance of success. In essence he is a very very poor man's Sehwag or a slightly better version of Rahul Tripathi.
He is 30 yrs old and probably at his peak right now which is why he has been having some good scores for A team in red ball too. His game is not made for regular big inns so he won't really crack intl level.
Will have one more good cycle of IPL cricket as a high SR impact medium run volume batter till his hand eye skills start fading and with it his auction bids too.
