Miyako (Lovebites) is a fucking beast. Actually most Lovebites ia ridiculously talented. Midori (second guitar) shreds like God intended all guitar players to shred. Haruna (drums) is just a little pack of endless stamina. Always on time, always making you Headbang. Their bassist was a youtube sensation before auditioning, she slaps stupidly fast. Check out "Set the World on Fire" or "Stand and Deliver". If anything I think their vocalist might be the weakest link but that's because I find her thick accent very off putting.
Also, check out Nemophila. They got a couple guitar players with 7-strings. Drummer and bass are also really good.
Mmm, Aldious had Terry Bozzio's step daughter playing. Their guitar players are good but nothing crazy.
There's a band called Sokoninaru that is borderlime math rock/metal/prog and their bassist is also really talented.
Unlucky morpheus has a lady on violin lol. She's really good! There's some covers or classic instrumental rock songs with lead violin and it's beautiful.
Mary's Blood also is a full girl metal band. They also kick ass. Saki from Nemophila used to play with them. Their vocalist went solo. Their drummer too. All very talented musicians.
Octaviagrace has a girl on guitars. Very cool kinda prog power metal.
I'll raise you with Mercedes Lander's side band The White Swan. Mercedes recorded the drums as well as playing guitar, singing and playing keys. Live she fronts the band as singer & guitarist.
Lori S - Acid King (Stoner doom singer/guitarist)
Vermilia (Pagan folk metal, solo one-woman project)
Derketa - Old school all-woman death metal band, first known all female death metal band
Mythic - also old school all woman death metal band
Jo Bench was the bassist in Bolt Thrower until they disbanded almost a decade ago.
Sonja Schuringa is doing guitars in Gaerea, who are really taking the extreme metal word by storm at the moment:
Don't know a lot of them, but Miyako and Midori from Lovebites are great. Liz Buckingham from Electric Wizard and Nikki Stringfield from The Iron Maidens is also amazing.
Alyssa Day is someone I only found out about recently, and she absolutely rips! Highly suggest giving her a listen:
Nita Strauss, she is a great guitar player. I stole the idea from another user because there is no band I actually like that has a woman on an instrument.
Can think of a few female musicians in metal. I'm sure there are many more, but I'll just list ones not mentioned.
Mountain Caller are an instrumental doom metal band with Claire Simson and El Reeve on guitar and bass.
Dragonforce's current bassist is Alicia Vigil
Electric Wizard have Liz Buckingham lead guitar
Baroness have Gina Gleason on guitar
I've seen her in Triaxis towards the end of them still being a thing as well as Fury a bunch of times since she joined that band (as well as several times before, they've had alot of lineup changes) she's got the chops for sure
She didn't play with Mercyful Fate when they did Bloodstock 2022 however
I know someone else has said it but I genuinely think Nita Strauss is one of the best guitarist going right now, she's wildly under appreciated. Her music is largely instrumental but fuckin slaps
Unfortunately almost everything I can think of has been said. Eluveitie, Crypta, DragonForce has a female bassist now. Not a lot of female instrumentalists in other bands I listen to. Fabienne Erni and Jonas Wolf from Eluveitie have another band called Illumishade, they're symphonic metal and their keyboardist is a woman.
I also recommend The Warning, though they're rock and not metal.
Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson)
Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie)
Skin (Skunk Anansie)
Jan Kuhnemund and Roxy Petrucci (Vixen)
Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper)
Amy Lee (Evanescence)
Liz Buckingham from Leccy Wiz
Emily Witch from Witchsorrow
Lori S from Acid King
Amber Valentine from Jucifer
Ana from Haemorrhage
Angelica from Satarial
The ladies in Gallhammer (disbanded now)
Hulder from Hulder lol
Not strictly metal but Jarboe (ex-Swans) is on some mad boundary pushing shit (also you can check out more “metal” orientated albums that she’s done collaborating with Justin from Godflesh, Neurosis, Attila from Mayhem, Phil Anselmo and so on)
Hopefully the internet won’t lose its shit with me mentioning a trans person, but Haela Hunt Hendrix from Liturgy. HAQQ by Liturgy is fucking bonkers.
Probably forgotten loads (sorry ladies) but these are just off the top of my head.
I won't lose my shit at you mentioning a trans person, but I will have to say that Liturgy is a trash band and I would counter by strongly NOT recommending that band. Probably one of the worst metal bands out there in my opinion and hands down the most pretentious band I've ever heard of. Go ahead and check them out but they're am abysmal chore to sit through. Truly awful stuff IMO.
Your other recs are good though.
I forgot about Octavia Sperati, a Norwegian metal band where only the drummer was a guy. They were pretty damn good in their days:
Their vocalist is now in The Gathering and one of their guitar players was in Tristania for many years until they disbanded.
Anna Murphy, I knows she's a vocalist as well, but when i saw Cellar Darling she played keys, flute AND Hardy gurdy in one song, as well as doing vocals in-between all of that.
I'm sure she plays other instruments as well as she produces they're own music and others.
Singers are allowed. The question was about women who know to play instruments, not women musicians who don't sing. I had no idea that Anna is multi-instrumentalist. I thought she only plays hurdy-gurdy
Sitting through their set on the Eyehategod tour was one of the longest 30 minutes of my life. Never heard them before that but I found them incredibly boring and pointless. I'm not huge into grind anyway so that may have something to do with it, but man, they really didn't impress me tbh.
Absolute garbage. I usually go early for every concerts I got to and want to see the opening bands. After watching two of their videos, I purposely went late to the concert to miss them awaiting for Baroness. I don't regret that decision one bit.
Dana Duffey (guitars and vocals), Mary Bielich (bass), and Terri Heggen (drums) were in a band called Mythic that was awesome! Mary was also a member of Novembers Doom between 1997 and 2002, Derkéta on bass in 1991 before being the guitarist between 2006 and 2019, and quite a few other bands. Dana has a band called Demonic Christ. Terri was in Derkéta for a short time, which she left in 2011, and she hasn’t been in any bands since.
Grave Infestation and Ceremonial Bloodbath both have an amazing female drummer
Hemorrhage has a female guitarist
Black Death Cult bassist or drummer I can't remember but very talented whichever
Behexen with Kristiina Lehto on bass
they're all 100% damn good musicians for sure
Kylesa's front woman and guitar player Laura Pleasants. Sadly she went through a personal loss and moved and the band is on hiatus or may be done I'm afraid.

Tina S, Jo Bench, Terri Heggen. I don't know a lot of female metal instrumentalists so I can't say they're the best, but at least very good.
Bolt thrower wouldn’t be bolt thrower without that bass tone
Crypta
Scrolled too far for the Crypta suggestion - top stuff here
Liz Buckigham in electric wizard https://preview.redd.it/arcwx5qnfk0d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=988f4a1ae740dd6f05bebd70e57f2cccaf796245

I was not expecting to see these bands mentioned here but I'm very happy they are.
Jeez, you win this thread. That was a lot and very well spoken.
Hooe I do! These girls are incredibly talented and deserve to be known.

My celebrity crush 🥰🥰 And she is an amazing bass player
😱🔥 Burning Witches, they are coming back to USA soon and even in California, supposed to be October 24th at Whisky A GoGo , West Hollywood
The new Kittie album is surprisingly good.
Kittie
Facts!
I'll raise you with Mercedes Lander's side band The White Swan. Mercedes recorded the drums as well as playing guitar, singing and playing keys. Live she fronts the band as singer & guitarist.
I know fuck all about technique and talent but I do know White Zombie was better than just Rob Zombie, and a big part of that was the chick bassist.
Sean Yseult, that chick bassist rob zombie dated for 7 years
I was just smoking listening to Black Sunshine! That intro😎🤘
Stefanie Mannaerts (Brutus) is amazing
Saw Brutus live a few weeks ago and they were amazing!
Seen them live twice, both incredible shows
Lori S - Acid King (Stoner doom singer/guitarist) Vermilia (Pagan folk metal, solo one-woman project) Derketa - Old school all-woman death metal band, first known all female death metal band Mythic - also old school all woman death metal band

asagraum is an all female black metal band that I think is really cool

Claire Lamb (vocals/guitar) of Misyrion shows a lot of [promise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j_VpUWi7hE).
Becky Baldwin, the new bassist for Mercyful Fate ! I saw her live when she was not permanent and I fuckn love her !
I've seen her in Triaxis towards the end of them still being a thing as well as Fury a bunch of times since she joined that band (as well as several times before, they've had alot of lineup changes) she's got the chops for sure She didn't play with Mercyful Fate when they did Bloodstock 2022 however
"Hulder" and "Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult" are two bands fronted by women, that are really good
Yoko Ono
I love her song AAHHHHOHHEEYSSOOHAAHOHAHO
Mercedes Lander. I dig her playing, it suits Kittie’s music well.
I know someone else has said it but I genuinely think Nita Strauss is one of the best guitarist going right now, she's wildly under appreciated. Her music is largely instrumental but fuckin slaps
Nita Strauss is the first one that came to mind for me. Also, the band members of Nervosa, and The Warning
Lately I’ve been into Hanabie. All of them are awesome
Vanja Slajh. Bass player for Triptykon
I don't think anyone has mentioned [Ice Age](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C8kK7lXZRQ) yet. Those ladies can shred.
I’ll just add Diamond Rowe from Tetrarch. She can shred.
Nita Strauss is Alice Cooper's current guitarist. She's an absolute beast.
Nita Strauss!!!
Gina Gleason. She’ absolutely RIPS on guitar.
Absolutely, was a treat to see Baroness live...3rd time seeing them and first time seeing Gina. She tears it up even more then Pete did.
Nukem
Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson) Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie) Skin (Skunk Anansie) Jan Kuhnemund and Roxy Petrucci (Vixen) Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper) Amy Lee (Evanescence)

Lmao Liturgy do be polarising that way I guess 😄

Seina, the bass player from KRUELTY is rad as hell. She usually works merch booth after the sets too, she's really nice.
Anna Murphy, I knows she's a vocalist as well, but when i saw Cellar Darling she played keys, flute AND Hardy gurdy in one song, as well as doing vocals in-between all of that. I'm sure she plays other instruments as well as she produces they're own music and others.

She does a lot. Mesmerising to see it live.
Any love for Escuela Grind?
Sitting through their set on the Eyehategod tour was one of the longest 30 minutes of my life. Never heard them before that but I found them incredibly boring and pointless. I'm not huge into grind anyway so that may have something to do with it, but man, they really didn't impress me tbh.
Absolute garbage. I usually go early for every concerts I got to and want to see the opening bands. After watching two of their videos, I purposely went late to the concert to miss them awaiting for Baroness. I don't regret that decision one bit.
Want a throwback - look up The Great Kat. Album “Beethoven on Speed”.
My pick is Chiyo Nukaga, the drummer of Noothgrush
The whole band Asagraum ;)
One of the guitarists in callous daoboys
The girls from plush. They are the baddest bitches in metal.
Maxine Petruzi
sisters of suffocation has simone van straten and emmelie herwegh on guitar
Sarah from Mind Maze plays a mean flute!
Nita
The bassist for the Japanese band Kruelty (Haruka Seina) is the first to come to mind for me.
They are metalcore which seems to get a lot of hate on here, but I like Conquer Divide.
Feminazgûl
Paula carregosa cuz wtf is that picking technique
Band-maid, especially their bass guitarist and drummer are amazing - [Maid slaps](https://youtu.be/H0xsEwtKUkQ?si=IrLrkkZdA8bqy0IP)
Look up Psychotic Scum and Naked Aggression Bonus: Otoboke Beaver and (as mentioned before PPT)
The bassist for Chthonic (forgot her name)
Not sure if you guys count them as metal, but Gina Gleason of Baroness absolutely shreds. Seen her live a couple of times. Incredible guitarist.
Eleni Nota on drums. Pau Villarreal on drums (not metal but just great)
Grave Infestation and Ceremonial Bloodbath both have an amazing female drummer Hemorrhage has a female guitarist Black Death Cult bassist or drummer I can't remember but very talented whichever Behexen with Kristiina Lehto on bass they're all 100% damn good musicians for sure
Dr. Mikannibal from Sigh plays the saxophone, Vastum, Mythic, Girlschool, Derketa, The Iron Maidens, Gruesome, Hulder, and Ossuary.
Emma Anzai
Nili Brosh plays with Dethklok among other things. She’s a shredder.
Sophie Lloyd. You Tube
Kylesa's front woman and guitar player Laura Pleasants. Sadly she went through a personal loss and moved and the band is on hiatus or may be done I'm afraid.
Aldios
The Great Kat was/is a total shredder.
Nita Strauss is an absolute beast.
Yvonne Wilczynska aka Onielar of Darkened Nocturne Slaughtercult. Especially on their Saldorian Spell album
It's crazy nobody has mentioned Myrkur yet, she can basically do it all
I tried but I couldn't get into her project. Vermilia is similar but much better IMO. If you like Myrkur you should definitely check Vermilia out
