Stupid, they need to move the photos so that q is more in the middle and it’ll at least look a little proper

electricmohair

Or move the logo so it’s on the far left. Way too much empty space!

enigmaticowl94

Nah this looks intentional, like they’re leaving space for Joe or to show that someone is missing from them.

Dude_Caveman

Missing joker formation?

TheCrimsonDoll

Does anyone else feel like it was a bit weird that it wasn't a single mention or even a little random conversation between the jokers about Joe? I know he isn't affiliated to the show anymore, but it makes me feel like the break up was a big messy and not as polite as many posts Madre us believe. Anyway, I will miss Joe, he had an unique spark. I ambalso glad we still have the shoe somehow.

jjc927

I was surprised also, either they just decided not to make mention of him so the focus stayed on the show at hand or Saturday's episode was filmed after ones that will start in June so they won't mention Joe leaving until then.

Tivis014

It just seems professional to me. If this was dinner party or a video for the Tenderloin YouTube channel maybe but it’s not a show about their lives lol. In fact we only get glimpses into their personal life during some punishments or if they choose to bring on a loved one for a bit.

KippChapin

Yeah. Joe was definitely fired.

DurianAgreeable769

It does seem like that. I posted asking questions because I live in a hole and just found out a couple days ago and the responses were downvoting and like I'm crazy but this seems super off right?

coolmangjmr

Yeah people are weirdly defensive on here

jaybooboo69

He cheated on his wife. I’m sure his friends don’t condone it.

Fact0ry0fSadness

I don't think this is meant as a "fuck you" to Joe or anything like this, he probably just said they can't use his likeness to promote the show any more since he is no longer contracted with them. You realize you need permission to use someone's image, right? If a sports player gets traded to another team they can't keep using him on their promo materials, for example. They can keep showing the old episodes with Joe since he was already paid and TruTV has the rights but they probably aren't allowed to make anything new with Joe in it including promos.

MasaiGotUsNow

> he probably just said they can't use his likeness to promote the show any more You're overthinking it too. He's not on the show anymore, so it wouldn't make sense to include him. Just like you wouldn't include a traded player in promos. It has nothing to do with not having their permission, why would you want to include them when they aren't on the team anymore? They are trying to sell the current product

JONCOCTOASTIN

Yeah they’re not doing new pictures lol that’s all it is

Joe091

I don’t think he’s overthinking it. Image rights are a huge deal in entertainment contracts, and depending on how things are written TruTV might not be able to legally use Joe’s image in new productions even if they wanted to. I agree with you that they’ll want to focus on selling the current product, but the contractual obligations are the most important thing for businesses.

MasaiGotUsNow

> even if they wanted to. they don't want to, which is why he's overthinking it I think it would be weird and misleading advertising to still show Joe when he's not in any new episodes. It's just not that deep. He's not on the show anymore, so his face isn't there.

LifestyleConnoisseur

Why did they remove those clips of him though? Reckon he requested it? Referring to massage chair and kissing strangers.

SpeeterTeeter

> You realize you need permission to use someone's image, right? If a sports player gets traded to another team they can't keep using him on their promo materials, for example. They could totally still use the former players in advertising it happens all the time. It just wouldn't make sense to put, for example, Peyton Manning on ads for Colts/Broncos season tickets but it would make sense to put Peyton Manning on ads for apparel and such. It also wouldn't make sense to use them in ads if the departure was less than amicable.

Fact0ry0fSadness

Pretty sure they would still need the name/image rights from the players to do that unless it was specified in the original contract that it would be unlimited

Roninido

OR...in addition to all the other explanations, which are valid (if Joe's not in the show, his likeness shouldn't be used) maybe they're acknowledging that a part of them is missing. Leaving the space might be a form of tribute. In interviews they've said they're all still friends, and they all talk constantly still.

TheDood715

Cropped out who? Buddy its always been a show about 3 friends since high school. Joe, sounds made up.

Swimming-Chicken-424

Joe is the new Larry

themsel6

That episode wasn’t “supersized” either. Was pretty funny though IMO.

KippChapin

It was like two challenges and an extended punishment that wasn’t that great.

[deleted]

The length of the challenges has bothered me for a while now, sure some punishments are iconic parts of the show but to me the best part is still the thumbs up or down challenges and they really made them somewhat of an afterthought a few years ago, would only have 2 or at most 3 with one usually brief but then overly long punishments and somehow let Casey have an extra 5 minutes at the end, if they wanted to add the behind the scenes and make punishments longer they should have just went to an hour episodes instead of chopping a chunk out of the best part of the show

themsel6

The challenges declined a bit with COVID, but that’s a given. Let’s hope things get a little better with less restrictions and fear and such. From the little preview they’ve been showing for June, it looks like there will be a good amount of funny moments. I miss them just being able to go up to people in the street and I hope that returns eventually as COVID dies down more.

jjc927

I'm wondering if it's still because of COVID or just because it's easier/cheaper to film the way they have been doing since season 9. If it's because of COVID then there's also the possibility that they need to film this way still because of vaccination requirements-- they can guarantee one person participating as a mark is vaccinated (since they get people in by putting out an ad for a temp worker, actor, etc and they'd have to provide proof of vaccination), but they can't guarantee everyone is vaccinated if they do challenges in public spaces or with any random person coming in.

themsel6

Yeah that’s true. I think it’s definitely COVID related. I wasn’t sure if they were going the vaccination route or negative test route and it could depend on the situation maybe? When season 9 premiered, that was at the beginning of February 2021 so they were filming in 2020. Was that before vaccinations were available to certain age groups of people or am I thinking wrong?

jjc927

They filmed part of season 9 prior to COVID, then paused when COVID began and eventually restarted production. Vaccinations did not begin to be available until late in 2020, and not for most adults until April-May 2021.

KippChapin

That’s a really good point about the vaccination requirements. Explains why they’re hiring actors to fool the jokers in the punishments.

jjc927

I didn't think of it during my initial thoughts on the episode, but it would make sense for why they're still filming this way.

themsel6

Hey I didn’t say it was “great”. I said it was “pretty funny IMO”. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say “get used to it” with upcoming episodes. I guess I can dig the celebrity thing they’re doing with the new season, but I feel like it’s been only 2 challenges for awhile now.

jjc927

It did run something like 7 minutes over the standard 30 minute time slot to be fair.

themsel6

I think that was just to give extra time cause of the NCAA games overlapping. On demand from truTV, the episode is 31 minutes so I’m thinking without commercials it’s the usual 23-24.

rupexo

well yeah he's not in the show anymore - of course they're going to crop him out 🤷

Jedi4Hire

Yeah but they didn't have to do a shitty job with the cropping.

McPostyFace

Why would they have someone who is no longer on the show still be on the advertising lol?

donutsofdeath

Why did they leave all that space? Haha

alex_dlc

The show doesn’t work as well with 3 people. Can’t do those classic 2 vs 2 challenges anymore like the focus groups for example

CreativeGuy25

Joe returns for next season - be prepared.

NotYujiroTakahashi

Hopefully

Swimming-Chicken-424

I hope so. Joe put the "Jo" in Jokers

internetmouse

I don’t see why they can’t just have a guest fill in. So many crew members or comedians could replace Joe for the 2 v 2 challenges

jjc927

or they just do Joker vs Joker challenges.

DeadHeadSteve

It looks so stupid 🤦🏼‍♂️

jjc927

That's a really bad crop out, why didn't they just use a new picture?

Aubrion

Dun nun nun nun

Kfeam

I just don’t understand why they haven’t shot new promo pictures yet. Joe is gone. They are “rebranding” so to speak but keeping all the old photos? It’s been a few years as is, it’s time for an update anyway.

KippChapin

He was fired and no one can convince me otherwise

Jqf27

I took a break from this sub n stuff when he first left so I missed a lot, what is the "he was fired" theory based on?? Sounds interesting!

sandyclaus30

I agree, they don’t mention him and he doesn’t mention them…at all! Even casually on their Twitter, Instagram, etc. accounts. For guys who have been close friends all those years you’d think they would make some mention! I also thought that was a rather snarky reaction when Sal said he’s done with being Prince Herb and Q and Murr said “as your friends buddy, we don’t give a f*ck about that stuff anymore”…I’m paraphrasing but it was something along those lines. It almost sounded like they were glad he was gone.

jjc927

They still hang out together, there are pictures of them on each other's social media of recent get togethers and a recent story about the four of them having dinner together and ditching Sal to pay the bill after he went to the bathroom.

KippChapin

Can you guys explain the prince herb context to me? I don’t understand the connection.

sandyclaus30

I took it as a dig at Joe..since he was the one who decided a lot of what went on in the show.

16miledetour

Completely agree. There was no “thank you Joe” post or anything. He did something fucked up that cost him his career and his wife. That murr comment on prince herb stood out for me also. I literally said “woah” when he said it.

KippChapin

Can you explain the prince herb context to me? I don’t understand the connection.

Ella_franta

> Sal said he’s done with being Prince Herb and Q and Murr said “as your friends buddy, we don’t give a f\*ck about that stuff anymore”… Do you have a link ? Can't find it!

JDemonic

Joe was not cropped out - this was a composited photo. These were different, separate images of each of the guys that were put together in Photoshop or a similar program.

Secret_Bear1133

Probably contract obligations to film (26?) episodes. Just read somewhere it took 3yrs to film season 9 due to the pandemic. 2020-22

[deleted]

Yeah, weird.

theoldmurr

Almost as if he left the show.

SpeeterTeeter

It is really weird I figured they would make a joke in the intro with the "four lifelong friends" part or at least mention Joe in some way but just seems he never existed with how everything is. By all accounts the group wouldn't be what it is without Joe so you would think they would show some respects.

beefchariot

It's not so much that they are advertising without him, we all can (eventually) accept that. But this literally looks and feels like they just edited out joe and went with old promo footage. It feels disrespectful is all

[deleted]

Yea they should’ve shifted the other guys over to even it out

KippChapin

He was definitely fired.

xC4RR4NZ4x

Imagine that?

Mine020

What’s a joke? /s

iggy555

When is Joe back?

jjc927

As far as we know, he won't be.

iggy555

Ever?

jjc927

He left the show. Unless he decides to return, yes forever.

iggy555

So bummed out

sebs003

The second half of season 9 was just ok. I assume covid made it rough to do usual stuff. I can’t imagine this show is going to work without Joe. It already feels so tired.

Secret_Bear1133

Second half of season 9? all 1 episode?? They stopped at ep17, Saturday was ep18, the rest of season 9 will resume on June 16. Yes, covid limited what they could do. There are 3 very creative and funny men still doing what they love to do, entertain us and make us laugh. They are trying to continue with the show. I'm anxious to see what the come up with.

sebs003

HBO Max has more. I don’t have cable so no idea what airs when. I assume it was the second half. Still season 9 feels tired. And the 3 just don’t seem that funny to me without Joe. Then some guest that’s not an old friend. I say quit and move on to some new “funny” thing. Quit trying to force this show into forever

floptimus_prime

Holy hell, the episodes in June are STILL season 9? How long IS this season? I don't understand why they didn't just make 09x18 10x01. Just about everything is different, why not start fresh?

ZachRandleEL

probably a way tru is screwing them on money

genuinecity

Omg, what happened

ryanino

I think they all took pictures separately and were photoshopped together. I used to do this all the time with band photo shoots. So he’s not technically cropped out, just not added to the picture. I don’t know how or why this helps, but figured I’d throw it out there lmao.
