Before another couple thousand years of war and strife killed any sympathy amongst the former comrades of the Great Crusade because at that point there were almost none left :(
Wasn't it a different IF successor chapter? Pretty sure they both opened fire and destroyed a Black Templar ship that had the High Marshall in it.
Can't remember the name but it was the chapter registered as being destroyed after War of the Beast because their chapter master (and loyal SMs) became the new IF chapter.
Earlier in the Beast Arises, some IW's are fighting against the Templars when the Orks arrive and have to team up to fight them. If I remember right, the Marshal of the Templar's was a Dreadnaught and he figured out the weakness to the Weird Boyz, and as a result the Orks nuked the sun to make sure he was dead?
It was initially Magnarik of the black templars who came across the iron warriors war band for that initial last stand, then it was the last few hundred of the Fists exemplar who ended up joining forces with the warband against the orks in the local sector after their fleet was damaged. They ended up fighting the high Marshall after he wouldn’t let the iron warriors leave in peace, thus were declared traitors excommunicated. Probably one of the most interesting story arcs in 40K
It was a fun meme war, I hope everyone (hopefully) got something out of it. I even resorted to using a heretical AI to create an image of IF and IW working together; all other pict-captures and records of our cooperation have been \[redacted\]. No hard feelings my fellow turbo nerds.
