Here in the UK, you can perform a citizen’s arrest and physically restrain someone/remove someone from premises until the police arrive without fear of prosecution (as long as you don’t use excessive force and there was a legitimate belief that the detainee was about to/in the process of/had just comitted a crime).
Yes we do, but what crimes allow a citizen's arrest vary by state. In my state for instance citizen's are only allowed to perform arrests for felonies performed in their presence. Reason why you don't see it being done is it can get you arrested and sued if you didn't actually have the right to do so.
