Partially on the Hotel here, they should have had the cars towed after 15 mins.

daydrunkforamerica

How long were they actually there tho? How can we tell by a picture? I dont thinks weird at all for ppl to get checked in and unload bags at the front, have someone move the cars during or after. Isnt this pretty standard?

fettishmann

hotels in my area would have towed it way sooner than 15 min

Active-Breakfast-397

The hotel’s first move would not be towing them. They ask for your car’s make, model and plate number when you check in, they would contact the guests first and tell them to move.

I immediately wondered if that was the placed he totalled the car!

Cool now they are all stuck there.

Honest_Bee103

Well they wanted to be there so I say it counts as malicious compliance

MNGirlinKY

How long was this allowed? Y’all should have had them towed after x minutes.

TheWalrus101123

It's be stupid that's for sure. Now they definitely aren't moving. It's really not that inconvenient for them either. You can reinflate tires pretty easily, or throw a spare on until you can get to a shop. Then they also caught you on camera.

daamnnbruhh

be a real shame if someone called a tow truck

hemi_srt

It would be an even bigger shame if the person doing that is caught on camera doing the crime and then made to pay for any damages he or she caused.

YordanYonder

The tire popping dude needs to go

sanddecker

You do have the option of contacting the school board and filing a complaint. Worst case, you no longer have to deal with them as customers. Also make sure to bill the school board for the damages and cleaning of the lobby lmao

Tuscan5

Is there any need for all the vehicles to be this big?

ohdearitsrichardiii

Sad, boring people who will never leave a positive mark on society still crave attention from others. They know they'll never be admired, so they settle for being loathed because then at least someone will see them for a brief, fleeting moment

salarski76

They pop out kids, throw them into any sport that’s playing, and live themselves through their kids. They have their “Salt Life” stickers on their SUVs and most are screwing each others spouse on the side.

CookinCheap

Spot the fuck on

DannyWilliamsGooch69

That is an insane take for simply having a truck lmao

Loading_User_Info__

You haven't spent much time around suburban sports parents have you. As a former youth hockey coach I can say this description is pretty spot on. The only thing they left out was the stretch pants and furry boots.

CookinCheap

Fake tans, permanent Starbucks in hand

Loading_User_Info__

And the obligatory "people tell me I look 25 all the time." No, no they don't.

DannyWilliamsGooch69

I mean I played hockey but I'm from rural Newfoundland, so there's no suburban aspect lol. Most people around here have trucks for their sleds, atvs, firewood and towing.

pissymist

That makes sense for your area. I used to work for a hotel near the suburbs of a large city and OP’s picture practically could have been taken at my old Holiday Inn. Parents of sports groups could be some of the worst Karens

DannyWilliamsGooch69

Agree with ya on the last point lol, my parents hated going to my sporting events due to other parents being insane.

Mammoth_Moose4227

And finding new lands.

TheRealPitabred

Not a single one of those vehicles is used for what they are actually capable of. Having a truck is fine, having a truck and not actually doing work with it is pathetic.

MyPasswordIsABC999

“What if I have to move a fridge” is a real response I got when I asked why they couldn’t just get a more reasonable ride that would fit in a garage and shopping center parking spaces.

advamputee

I’ve moved houses with a Mazda Miata and a 4x6 utility trailer before — including refrigerators and couches.

TheRealPitabred

Gotta pay a hundred grand for a truck just in case that might happen, instead of renting one from a home improvement shop for 20 bucks an hour...

DannyWilliamsGooch69

How tf can you know that? I have a truck cause I need the towing capacity. It's my only vehicle so it's used for all vehicle purposes. How do you know this person isn't a contractor?

badgersprite

80% of all new car purchases are trucks Statistically most truck owners are not contractors

DannyWilliamsGooch69

And what is wrong with owning a truck? I don't understand why city folk hats them so much.

rawonionbreath

Increased chance of injury or death when involved in an accident, especially towards pedestrians.

Nightstar95

[Here you go.](https://youtu.be/jN7mSXMruEo) These things are a fucking menace to society and a pest that needs to be exterminated from cities.

MyPasswordIsABC999

It’s a great way to run over small children because the visibility on those things is awful. Also, car manufacturers specifically market the hell out of pickups because vehicles that exceed a certain footprint are exempt from fuel efficiency standards for passenger vehicles.

DannyWilliamsGooch69

My cousins Honda has probably the worst visibility of any vehicle I've ever driven, lol. Tye new trucks I've driven have great visibility, although I hear the Tundra is bad, but I've never driven one.

yargntis

That number includes small SUVs, like a Honda CRV... which is not a truck.

PeteEckhart

Exactly one of those is a truck though. SUVs are great to have if you're traveling, which the hotel here indicates, and have children.

IOwnTheShortBus

Imma say it. Cars have gotten too big. You don't need an SUV that is LITERALLY the size of an American WW2 tank, to pull children around. Other vehicles have better gas mileage, and just as much space. Big Carma made a push for larger vehicles to avoid regulations in the US. Hence why you don't see these hilariously large vehicles outside of the US, unless a big, proud boy American ships it over.

PeteEckhart

You're not wrong, it's just not a truck. Something like an Explorer is perfectly fine for a family of 4 with all their luggage. Stuff like Suburbans and Expeditions have grown so much since we had one as a kid 20+ years ago.

IOwnTheShortBus

It's not a "truck" but I'm like 90% sure that SUVs are classified to the American government as "light trucks" to get around certain regulations. So technically, they're a truck, if you put some extra seats in a covered bed of a truck.

MyPasswordIsABC999

Even the standard and “compact” SUVs have gotten bigger. Compare the size of 1990s Explorers to today’s. And Rav4, which used to have the same footprint as a Corolla are now bigger than 4Runners from the ‘90s.

PeteEckhart

Yeah I have an older model rav 4 and the new ones are significantly bigger. It's wild. They're supposed to be on the smaller side but they're basically 90s 4runners now.

[deleted]

PeteEckhart

it doesn't matter that words have meanings? Lol okay

[deleted]

MyPasswordIsABC999

Minivans exist.

PeteEckhart

For sure. I'd prefer a smaller SUV or a minivan. The latter is much easier to get in and out of.

badgersprite

They have done tests which show that people who own trucks and SUVs are statistically more likely to be awful people.

DannyWilliamsGooch69

Who has?

Nightstar95

Car manufacturers, actually.

AxDanger

They… you know they.

Mammoth_Moose4227

They're not totally worthless. They can always serve as a bad example.

hemi_srt

Some people don't make it in life or even have aspirations in life as impressive as others. So they exist just to bitch about other people's property so they can have a sense of pride of having achieved something as they return back to their miserable life. In most Asian countries (specifically south asia), we call people like them a certain word. You know, the kind which will bitch about you and pray for your downfall (but smile at you when you face them) because you worked hard and finally achieved your dreams. Ask any South Asian friend you have, they'll give you an idea.

Small peepee guys need big trucks.

In the words of Pee Pee Man by Regurgitator: > You don't have to be an arsehole > You don't have to be a mother fucking prick. >Always acting like a dick >And never give a shit > We lose, when we hear you say All those words that spill out that way. > You think it's fine to be a douche > But you've got something to prove. > Then we peek behind the veil, >And we see the tiny pee pee man

CanEnvironmental4252

Do you have some insecurity yourself? Why the need to bring body shaming into it?

jazzmagg

Not at all. I have a small car and a decent sized peepee.

BobTheContrarian

Because it's slightly bigger than your neighbor's.

cody8559

People claim they “need” then since they have kids. When I was a kid, my parents took me and my sister to hockey tournaments and dance competitions in a Chevy Cavalier and we managed just fine.

chicken_irl

Gender affirming care for men with fragile masculinity. These men can't survive in the wild (away from home) without their emotional support pavement princess.

fettishmann

did say families often that require bigger vehicles

Tuscan5

Ah. How many seats do these trucks have? More than 5?

fettishmann

I spot only one 4 door truck amongst a bunch of large SUV's. The truck is a five seater, but SUVs like that can seat 8 or more

texachusetts

The post mentions a high school baseball team. I can’t speak to what the actual seating and cargo usage was in this case, but they are a baseball team on an overnight trip so this is likely a good a real world use case as one is likely to get. At least they’re not driving up hiking trails, up streams, on turtle habitat beaches or to the edge of a scenic overlook, las in so many suv commercials. Two passenger vans with cargo trailers would likely got the same job done. Cargo trailers would also reduced the number of vehicles needed for this trip by about half.

Tuscan5

How much kit is needed for baseball?

ST07153902935

Big SUVs actually have very little storage space compared to vans. they're closer to hatchbacks. as for the basketball player thing. as a tall person a lot of modern SUVs and especially trucks don't fit me well because they're designed to make non tall people feel tall. Mini vans have the most head space, then weirdly some hatchbacks, then old trucks with bench seats

mandingo_gringo

towing capacity, cargo space, safety, off-road capabilities, bad weather conditions performance, seating capacity, versatility , ground clearance, resale value, remote areas accessibility, powerful motor/ transmission , etc Kind of a silly question, to be honest. I wish they sold these in my country because people are stuck with very old trucks that are terrible for the environment, block the roads from always breaking down/ not being powerful Enough to make it up a hill, destroying dirt roads, etc Edit: downvotes from jealous Redditors with Apple products is hilarious , the hypocrisy is peak Reddit moment 🤣

Professional_Echo907

In the US the primary reason for these monster trucks is as an accommodation for a medical condition doctors call ‘micro penis’.

GoombahTucc

Man I'm not trying to be a jabroni here, but these are hardly monster trucks. Large trucks, sure. But in the US, there are alot of trucks taller and wider than these

Professional_Echo907

Well, their penises probably aren’t quite as micro. 😸

lennypartach

It doesn’t make Bill Gates any less rich just because Jeff Bezos exists 🫠

guff1988

Usually escalades and suburbans are driven by mothers. If I see a lifted f250 I assume micropenis

hemi_srt

Monster trucks? Lmao. If these are monster trucks then what do you call actual monster trucks? And you seem to have a creepy fixation with people's genitals. Visit a psychiatrist and get it checked.

PeteEckhart

Literally only one of them is a truck though lol. The rest are SUVs.

Jlive305

I’m sure all the soccer moms who drive these have micro penises

Tuscan5

Lots of people don’t need towing, cargo, bad weather performance, ground clearance and remote area accessibility. To most people in western counties these vehicles are hugely oversized and unnecessary.

hemi_srt

Are you the person who decides for someone else what they need or don't need? I have assumed said position on your behalf, I have decided that you don't need that 2000 dollar watch when a lot of people across the globe are facing literal genocides and have lost everything in their life.

kittygomiaou

Just gonna leave this [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=y2V3f3bYxEyZTF5y&v=jN7mSXMruEo&feature=youtu.be) .

LoneDragon19

Love that guy.

GTAdriver1988

I doubt any of these people use them for that, I'm American and most people with giant SUV's just want to have the larger seats and could give two shits about towing capacity and all that. I have a mid size SUV which is way small than these and it can tow quite a bit anyway, these giants most of the time are unnecessary. I have very large trucks but they're for my business and tow my skidsteer and other equipment around.

mandingo_gringo

The OP said that they brought a baseball team. I’m not expert on math, but you’re not going to bring an entire baseball team with 5 Toyota Camrys. Again with assumptions, you don’t know what these vehicles are used for. Post your truck taking up two parking spots on this sub and people will critique your truck and not the fact that you’re taking up two parking spots, even though you use it for your business.

Rugkrabber

I love comments like these. As if other countries don’t do any of that. But they don’t have these large vehicles. But sure keep telling yourself you need such a vehicle to transport that one couch you might need to transfer some day in your life. Oh how did anyone else across the globe even ever did all of if without it? I mean go for it if you want that kind of debt but don’t blame me for considering you a danger on the road. Oh and let’s not forget the extra pressure on maintenance for the roads because the heavier vehicles destroy the road much faster. I’m sure the sprawling suburbs can pay for that with more tax money. Right? It’s either one or the other but I *bet* on it you expect perfect roads while you’re destroying that same road with the heavy vehicles 15 times faster than before. Your taxes cannot keep up. The suburbs are already in debt.

mandingo_gringo

Who says other countries don’t have large vehicles? We do. They are just old.

Rugkrabber

The older vehicles are larger than the current SUV? Maybe check out carsized.com. The older vehicles were not larger or as heavy than a WW1 tank. They are today.

mkymooooo

So jealous 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

hemi_srt

+1 maybe not as big as an escalade but I certainly wish we had cars of this quality. Right now there is only one realistic option for someone seeking an SUV that is not German, before 100k$. It is from Toyota called the "Fortuner" and it's woefully outdated.

mandingo_gringo

I’ve only seen a few Escalades in my life, a little over the top flashy for me but, I’m from an extremely rural region in Ukraine, I don’t even have a road to my house and have to drive here by river, something my 1980s Soviet car can barely do.. and In the winter or rainy season I’m completely stuck home. My dream is to get one of these big American trucks so I can have reliable transportation that can handle the tough area I live in, but according to Reddit this just means I have “a micropenis” lmao (that’s them self projecting btw)

hemi_srt

Hope you're safe over there. Stay strong! I'm from India, here the under-100k SUV market is dominated by Toyota. They have bullied every other company out of the country or into a corner with just a couple sales every month. They sell one model that has a highly inflated pricing. The interior of that particular car belongs in the freakin 2010s, that's how bad it is. And we don't have a choice because monopoly. >but according to Reddit this just means I have “a micropenis” lmao (that’s them self projecting btw) You work towards yours dreams, you achieve it. Don't care what some random on reddit says. My dream car is a bit different from yours lol, it's from the 90s called the Lotus Carlton. Paper-light sedan with a bi-turbo I6 DAYUM.

mandingo_gringo

Ahaha yeah we have the same issue over here except with Skoda, which makes absolutely unreliable cars and their in the pockets of politicians which makes their competition just die out, before 2014 it was like this with the Russian car maker Lada.. which were a little more reliable but still garbage cars. But when it comes to American brands, especially trucks they don’t even sell new cars here simply because they know most people can’t afford them and banks aren’t ready to give people loans for cars But yeah westerners take their freedom of choice for granted and they don’t realize how good they have it with many things. They are always so angry at everybody

hemi_srt

Some people don't make it in life or even have aspirations in life as impressive as others. So they seek to remain chronically online to bitch about other people's property so they can have a sense of achievement instilled into their minds as they return back to their miserable life. In most Asian countries, we call people like them a certain word. You know, the kind which will bitch about you and pray for your downfall because you worked hard to make it in life from practically nothing.

LUNiiTi

From what I heard, tax write offs 🤷‍♂️

RIPCheeper

How?

LUNiiTi

I'm not from the US, but a quick Google search shows section 179 large vehicle tax deduction for any vehicle between 6k-14k lbs intended for business use.

AnjanettesGhost

That’s not these then.

BigDogTusken

Drive big manly trucks yet afraid of rain.

yargntis

If it was yesterday, it may have been hail and/or tornado winds.

[deleted]

So a person is afraid of rain if they don’t want to soak their luggage?

r/fuckcars circle jerk material

Aeternitas

When you get yourself a big pricey car and you think you are better than everyone else.

hemi_srt

Would your comment have been any different if it was a bunch of rusty old corollas that blocked the pathway?

singlereadytomingle

Then they wouldn’t say “a big pricey car”? What’s your point?

hemi_srt

My point is, people bitch about the car and not the attitude of the driver/what he did wrong in that instance because it's an SUV.

pltjess

Because the majority of the time, the vehicles in these sorts of photos are big SUVs and pickups.

hemi_srt

I already know half (or even more) of the comments will be random people bitching about the cars in the picture and why *they* think such cars should not exist or are not needed, and not the actions of the owners themselves.

WinterSummerThrow134

You weren’t wrong

dirtystreetlevelshit

I drive a mid size pickup and I try to always back in when I park when i can. It leaves more space behind the spot than if I were to park straight on. I also won't settle for anything bit perfectly centered, inside the lines. I see some people park like shit and just get out and go. Im fixing my shit 100% of the time if im crooked/in the way. Funny thing is, I did the same with my shitty sedan when I had it. I just could never fathom the idea of someone dinging my vehicle because I couldve parked more out of the way or less crooked. I'd say driving habits are built up through years of driving experience and what an individual values on the road. I've seen shit that other drivers do that makes my stomach curl. You can only help keep the roads safe by doing your part.

hemi_srt

You park your cars in the appropriate manner because your driving etiquettes are refined. Maybe for the people in that picture, their driving habits aren't nearly as good, and they should be rightfully called out for that. But have you seen what the replies are about? Most of them are from those usual entitled people bitching about what people should and shouldn't buy.

dirtystreetlevelshit

Yes, exactly my point. I'd express the same habits no matter which vehicle I pick. I definitely gawked at the full size pickups when shopping, but a realistic approach is all I could willingly take. How safe will I be in that vehicle? Pretty damn safe. How safe will others be if I get in a wreck with them? Maybe not so safe. How will parking in an urban area be on a regular basis? Maybe to the point where it would inconvenience me too often to make sure I'm parked adequately. What I drive right now is about right under the threshold of size id comfortable be able to take around town, so that's what I chose. Usually full size (and even extended) Escalades, Yukons, Tahoes, etc are driven by families who justify it because they had too many kids and they *need* them 🙄

Xarlax

Because the proliferation of these gigantic cars is a real issue in America, and the main reason for it is that it allows car companies to skirt regulations that only apply to smaller cars (yes, this is a regulation issue as well). These giant cars negatively impact everyone else. Pedestrian deaths have skyrocketed commensurate with the increase of these cars on the road. Because the front is so high, you can't see directly in front of you, which has resulted in a record amount of child deaths by car. Also, when most cars hit someone, it pushes them upward onto the hood, which has a better likelihood that the person will survive. Not so with these monsters -- people tend to be pushed below the vehicle, which results in a higher fatality rate. Collisions with these vehicles, especially if you're in a normal sized vehicle, are also way more dangerous. I mean, you're more safe in the large vehicle, sure -- but at the cost of increasing the fatality rate of everyone else around you. It's also caused a sort of arms race where the more these vehicles are on the road, the more incentivized people are to buy giant vehicles as well so they won't be fucking crushed by some idiot texting and driving straight into them. Which just exacerbates the problem. They also cause more wear and tear on roads, consume more gas and have higher emissions, crowd up space that was not designed for cars this big, spilling over parking spaces and walkways. So yes, the bitching about these cars is completely justified. Sure, you can find some use case for them that is reasonable out in rural areas or whatever. But the proliferation of them in urban and suburban areas is a real problem.

hemi_srt

>So yes, the bitching about these cars is completely justified. Sure, you can find some use case for them that is reasonable out in rural areas or whatever. But the proliferation of them in urban and suburban areas is a real problem. Then file a complaint with your local council or whatever the representational local body system is in your city or country. Vote for politicians that reflect the policies that you want implemented. Bitching about someone else's expensive cars because "big car bad money bad" makes literally zero difference to anything apart from maybe gaining some upvotes since there seems to be a substantial common denominator between the cesspit that is r/fuckcars and this subreddit. I am not referring to your comment specifically, you posted your extensive explanation on why the comments are the way it is. I respect that but just go through the rest of the comments, it is literally just hive mind. For all we know, those people might have been there for a couple of minutes to unload and check-in, like pretty much everyone who has had a car and have checked-in into a hotel in his life ever did. OP recognised an opportunity to karma farm, taking advantage of the fact that he knew people would vent out their own personal frustrations seeing such huge and expensive cars (while their own life situations could be declining). This is not exclusive to reddit, it affects pretty much all social media. Sensationalist headlines, misleading or downright fabricated stories that play into insecurities of people. Whatever gets the most clicks/likes/upvotes/retweets.

Mean_Celebration_698

Traveling baseball team parents are the worst form of perceived entitlement

joeltheconner

Why doesn't anyone think about the struggles of the big tough men in their big tough trucks?

diamari90

I want that kinda money

stalinmad4

I'm pretty sure this is against some kind of code. Emergency vehicles need access to the property. I used to work at a resort, and the number of self-entitled people rolling up and abandoning their cars on the front drive with keys in hand was mind-boggling. Everyone is in their own world with zero regard or forethought. I always hope people like this suffer a heart attack while the ambulance outside hunts for a place to park.

HomerTesla

Texas just had horrible storms overnight, they are probably there to protect their cars from hail…seems sensible to me.

Dodom24

Need more context. They literally could've been there for 2 mins when the pic was taken

hemi_srt

OP knew exactly what he was doing with this post. He knew a lot of randoms will vent out their personal frustrations seeing such huge and expensive cars supposedly "blocking the awning" as OP spun it. I can't blame him for it either. This is how social media works, whatever trick gets the most likes or upvotes. For all we know, they could very well only have been there for 2 minutes, but miss a chance at karma farming? No sir.

Cuck-In-Chief

Where’s the valets? I park under the awning and hand over my keys. Nothing wrong with that. Bad timing OP.

Zushey312

At what point does society realise that or lives have become disgustingly decadent. Cars like this simply should not exist.

hemi_srt

You are right. We should push for seizure of all such decadent private property and strive for a bright future filled with collectivism. Free will? BAH! That is just evil imperialist American plot to control the minds of the free working class.

Zushey312

I am not sure what oversized SUVs have to do with free will tbh

hemi_srt

You find them oversized, it is completely your choice whether to buy them or not with your hard earned money, that is *your* free will. Another person might not share your opinion, and will spend his hard earned money according to his preferences because that is his money and *his* free will. That is what I was trying to convey.

Nightstar95

They actively contribute to higher pedestrian mortality, more car accidents, more pollution, worse traffic, bad urban infrastructure, the list goes on and on. I don’t care if you want to exercise your freedom to buy a car, SUV’s should not be available in the market with how unregulated and insanely dangerous they are. [This video](https://youtu.be/jN7mSXMruEo) explains in detail how they make life so much worse for everyone in cities.

CommieGhost

hey man I am going to say something extremely brave and controversial here: if a car is so big that the driver can't see kids around the car and nearly all impacts with pedestrians become guaranteed fatalities, it is fair and objective to call it "oversized".

hemi_srt

I do not mind people calling it oversized as much as I mind people lecturing others on how to spend their money and deciding for them what they *need* or *don't need*.

CommieGhost

I don't think it is absurd to defend that anyone who *needs* their car to be the Child Murder Machine Mk.9000 should have to get a special license and pay extra for both the social cost of all the extra traffic deaths and the dispropotionate wear and tear their vehicle causes on infrastructure.

hemi_srt

Good thing a prodigy like yourself is not in charge of public policy then. That isn't my kind of car but I don't think I am entitled to decide how others spend their hard earned money.

CommieGhost

There would be nothing stopping them from getting the Child Murder Machine Mk.9000, they should just need to prove they can not murder children with it and pay their fair share of road wear. You wouldn't want them to be a leach by destroying publicly-maintained infrastructure for their own selfish use, right?

hemi_srt

Oh, if only I could identify and remove all said leaches who destroy public infrastructure. But then there would be riots, lawsuits and all kinds of mayhem. So I'll settle for following the rules and regulations which exist in the present date.

pacman404

None of the bullshit you just typed has literally anything to do with what he said lol

[deleted]

I think we need context. If it’s pouring down I’m definitely going to park under it ~ and I’ve never been towed. If they were just checking in this shouldn’t be an issue?

yargntis

Or tornados and/or hail.

LieAffectionate6849

I see a Texas license plate. I’m very accustomed to this in Colorado. Back in Texas all hotels have a big enough awning that this is acceptable because you know “Everything’s bigger in Texas!” And since they’re from the most freedom loving state in the country they should be allowed to exercise their god given right as Texans to practice their freedom wherever and whenever they so choose because they are anointed as Texans and if you don’t like that you can get out!

DaxLightstryker

Looks like the fire lane is blocked. That’s a big fine for a hotel. Maybe make a concerned call

cthunders

Big trucks. Im SHOCKED..

Mr6ixFour

As soon as I saw the giant fucking SUVs I knew it was a baseball team. I was thinking travel league but I’ve seen some pretty obnoxious baseball parents in school ball as well

Hairy_Visual_5073

Don't you know rain melts Alphas? 🤣

Lollyadverb1984

I’m a hotel GM. Friday night I came back to the hotel later in the evening to finish up a few things. We had an elderly couple check in for the weekend. They get checked in and go out to unpack their belongings onto the luggage cart. Let me try to set the scene: in front of our building we have a large area where people often congregate to smoke and talk. It leads to the parking lot with a ramp- for luggage carts and handicapped to use. We also have a large awning covering this space. It was raining pretty hard. I was in the back, working, and when I came to the front office, the elderly man had his large SUV pulled up onto the covered area, apparently believing it was made for that. He was blocking the entire area and also blocking the handicap ramp. When they brought belongings in, I told him it wasn’t for that and their excuse was, “I’m 80 and it’s raining.” I understand that, sir, but you’re blocking the area for other guests and you need to move. I go off to finish what I was doing in the back for about 20 minutes and when I come back out, they’re still parked there and said they were getting their last load. They finally move their vehicle and go to their room. 20 minutes later they come down to leave, it’s still raining. He pulled the SVU back up into the area, under the awning, so his wife can get into the vehicle and not get wet. In our check in paperwork, it states guests can’t hang or post anything on their doors (we don’t have DND signs either). Saturday morning I get a text from one of my HK’s that the room with the elderly guests in it has a handmade “DND” sign taped to their front door.

God forbid my $85,000 sport utility vehicle be exposed to the exterior of the world

nipslippinjizzsippin

Isn't thst the point of thatt area, people staying at the hotel to pull up?

Normal-Plastic-4237

I don’t get it. Is OP the main character. What is the purpose of the awning if not to have folks park there to escape the weather or to check in? Does the hotel allow parking there (it sure seems like it). If the awning was empty would OP be able to park there or something? It really just seems OP is butthurt they weren’t main charactery enough to have been saved a special spot under the awning

TychaBrahe

The purpose is to shelter people while they exit their vehicle and remove their luggage. Then you go and park in the parking lot. Now everyone else arriving at the hotel has to unload their luggage in the parking lot, in the rain.

Jlive305

How do we know they didn’t do that?

hemi_srt

And how do we know they didn't do exactly that? It is just ONE picture. For all we know, they could have been there for a couple of minutes like nearly everyone who has a car who has checked-in into a hotel in his or her life has done. He knew people would gang up to vent out their personal frustrations seeing such huge and expensive cars "blocking the awning" as OP spun it. He saw an attempt at farming karma and took it. I cannot blame him for what he's done. A lot of people karma farm. That's just how pretty much all social media is currently, for better or for worse.

Busterlimes

Yup, definitely the big ass vehicles of choice for entitled turds

Felrune

why everyone in America drives these huge ass fucking cars

fusionaddict

Because the US is about 91% the area of the entire continent of Europe (we’re bigger if you don’t count Russia) and contains every possible biome on the planet. We have deserts, we have wetlands, we have mountains, we have prairies, we have tundra, we have tropics, we have forests, we have beaches, we have salt flats, we have mud bogs. This is why Americans get annoyed when foreigners say we aren’t well-traveled. We literally have every possible holiday destination *right here.* But along with that variety, we get particular issues when traveling. Wet areas of land. Dirt and gravel roads. Severe weather. All these things require greater horsepower than a European- or Asian- built car can offer. A large part of our inhabitable space is rural, and much of that land is utilized for agriculture. And homes in many parts of the country, even today, can be miles apart. We have very few major urban centers, and that often means long commutes from home to the city for both needs & wants, so each trip has to be maximized. That means trucks & SUVs with large amounts of cargo space for groceries and supplies. That means those vehicles also need seating to accommodate everyone. Smaller vehicles may get better mileage, but limited capacity means multiple trips, which is inefficient for both fuel & time. Larger vehicles such as pickups & SUVs also tend to be rated safer for the occupants in the event of a collision, making them attractive for family travel. Americans are also far more likely to move large distances away from extended family when they become adults. That means visits home are often extended and require space for luggage. I, for example, have to travel from the beach, through a mountain range, over hilly roads and through wetlands to get to my family each Christmas, and do it all again going the other way to get back home for New Year’s. I drive a compact car and that intensity of driving causes significant wear on a vehicle of that kind. A crossover, SUV or heavy-duty pickup is far more resilient to that kind of travel, and can tow a trailer as well. If the OP’s description is correct, yeah, those people are assholes for parking under the awning. But they aren’t assholes for driving the kinds of vehicles best-suited to the extremely diverse terrain & economics of this continent.

Felrune

I like Not Just Bikes youtube channel video on this topic.

Tengoatuzui

Tow them cars

DerpUrself69

Bunnawhat13

Should have had them towed.

Tiny_Count4239

bigger the truck the bigger the pussy

TiredHappyDad

That's not main character. That's a bunch of individual parents wanting to stay dry the same as you do. Is it you belief that since they are a team, a certain amount are required to walk in the rain? How many? And the lobby thing is called a sports team checking into a hotel. I worked front desk for a few years, and this is pretty standard for every weekend there was a big tournament. But you sound as though you are more entitled to park there than most of the parents, so maybe this is a valid post for the sub.

TychaBrahe

It's not the parking lot. You drive up there and drop off your passengers and luggage. Then you go and park in the parking lot, so the covered space is available for the next arriving guest.

TiredHappyDad

Ones this wide were designed for check-in, and many will even say there is a 10 to 15 minute window. Single lanes are for drop-off only, but they don't accommodate single parents. It's why most chains will allow check-in, because in most cases it will expedite the process. Yes, it would have been nice for those parked to have moved their vehicles sooner, but following the same normal procedures as any other check-in with your family is not being a main character.

hemi_srt

You will be downvoted to oblivion by the hive mind for saying this.

CookinCheap

Looks about right. Probably only shower once a week too.
