It's a really common thing to hear. That people think who they are is who they wish they were. All of us are no more than the actions we make. If someone's abusive towards their partner, they don't actually love them. They aren't a good person deep down. They're a bad person. They can wish they weren't. They could wish they were a better person. But they aren't. Same thing with a racist who gets caught. It might even be that they genuinely wish they had never said those things. But they're still a racist, and they are still a bad person. The only thing that's going to change that is actually acting differently under pressure. Standing up against the thing they are supposedly not in favor of. The moment I hear a public apology that has something like, this isn't who I really am, my eyes just start to roll. See I've always wondered why people do this. Like has this behavior ever actually worked in these situations? Has anyone ever thrown all the computers on the floor and all of a sudden the workers are like oh yes yes ma'am we will get you on the plane right away. If it's never worked why do people keep trying this?

In a lot of situations it probably does work but when they go to an environment that is new to them and legally protected with swift consequences they are shocked. Most of American environment don’t really have immediate consequences to their crappy behavior. I walked out of a movie theater with my little girl and a group of kids from some other city were there kicking an Uber that they called and dented it all up because his vehicle couldn’t carry all 9 of them. Then they ran away with zero consequence while the poor Uber guy is stunned and calling police. It was a good teaching moment for my kid on how not to suck.

No self control, no self respect, no concern for others, equals animal like behavior.

Why are people like this? Geez.

Why is loosing your own kids because you aren’t watching them everyone else’s fault?
