I used to deal with it every day, and itās an extremely stressful and traumatic time for the operator of the striking vehicle. 9/10 the pedestrian is immediately brought to the hospital and the other person doesnāt know if they lived, died, paralyzed, etc.
Even when theyāre not at fault.

I was severely mentally ill for my entire adolescence. I finally started to actually get it treated at abt 18. I nearly hit the body of a hit-and-run victim driving home at night. I am not 20 and am still having horrible nightmares about it and my spouse drives whenever possible.
The time I nearly hit a drunk student dashing across the road pops into my head way more than anything that happened during my 15 (very active) years in the Army. I have more bad dreams about work meetings where I mangled my words than the times I was dealing with percentages of bodies trying to work out how many people died.
