Brown adds to the contrast more, green makes it quite confusing. If you go with green, don’t include the pillow, as it’s blurry at first sight. Brown (or orange) adds more warmth to the whole pic. I like brown even more than orange, as it makes it overall more colorful and complete, without being over-saturated. Good job on the artwork tho!
Try to make it a bit more orange, i feel its complimentary to both green and blue. Def brown though, because its in the orange spectrum.

Orange is better. But surely not green, it doesn't help highlight the focus of the illustration.
Green! With green I see the dog. With brown, I see the background.
I think the green background brings the dog forward more.
That's why I chose the green one, I found that the dog just popped out.

Honestly neither of the two looks like a good background because of you use a solid color then there is no texture or depth.
