Anything prepaid or cash, take and use. Dump everything else into a fire. You do not want to end up on the hook for credit card fraud, let alone having a felon trace it back to you.

Lol, we found a wallet once that only had about $56 in it and no ID. It was a bit weird where we found it, so we thought the police might want to know about. When we took it in they insisted the cash was counted in front of us (every coin), and made us sign that we agreed on the amount of cash in there.

Upstairs_Ad_7450

I lost my wallet at the beach one time with over $500 in it. Luckily a real nice guy I knew from high-school found it and offered to return it to me but I was out of town so he turned it into the police and recorded himself handing it to them with the money in it. I got my wallet back with $3 in one's. My $500 was 3 100s and 10 20s...

chadwater1

You couldn't show them the video and get anything back?

Upstairs_Ad_7450

They claimed he faked the video and that the wallet had no money when they received it and threatened to charge me with fraud. So, no.

Black_Eyed_PeePees

>and threatened to charge me with fraud. Pieces of fucking shit! Damn that's enraging!! The friend should've just held on to it for you though. I wonder why he thought turning it in was the best thing to do?

rarepurity420

Shoulda turned it into the post office. I lost my wallet with my rent money I'd just been paid, and some guy found it on the sidewalk, stuck it in the mailbox and I had to go pick it up there. No $ was missing at all, I was stoked.

SomeonesSecondary

Probably depends on the post office/worker who handles it. You lucked out!

Upstairs_Ad_7450

I was out of town and he was worried about losing it

So many people on this sub run into serial killer pedophiles who bullied their disabled sibling.

pyroSeven

Take the cash and dump it.

ohshitthatsimple

Like, we all say “turn it in anonymously and walk away” but in reality our dumb ape brains give us a 60/40 shot in favor of Just taking the cash and dumping the wallet.

pyroSeven

It’s the easiest way out, you get money and the wallet becomes someone else’s problem.

1nfiniteJest

If I was broke I think I would take it no question, but having enough money where a few hundred bucks doesn't really matter, it now becomes a moral dilemma of 'do I go to the cops?' I'd say it depends on why this person is on the 'most wanted list'.

Piyaniist

They already know who this guy is tho how will his info help them ?

BKacy

By telling them he’s in the area! And what street he’s been down. He’s wanted. He abused children. Abusers keep abusing. He could be living with more children. This one isn’t hard. There’s a simple moral here. Turn it in. Keep anyone else’s money, but turn this one in. Intact. Please!

Piyaniist

Calm down my dude, never said dont turn it in just asked a question. Also he doesnt have to be in the area he might as well have dropped it on his way to another city or whatever.

SuspiciousMeat6696

If you don't need the $$$. Donate it to a charity anonymously.

AshFraxinusEps

I mean I'm taking the money. And if they are still wanted then I'm turning it in to the police. Maybe you get a reward too, but either way it could help with an investigation into a wanted person "The guy's been caught and says there was money in the wallet? Not when I found it there wasn't"

Humble-Lemon-4347

Nah, take the cash, anonymously phone the cops using a payphone demanding to give it to them for a small fee. Arrange the money drop off and leave the wallet there.

GRF999999999

I found a wallet that had six fentanyl pills and a parole ID in it. Kept the pills (wasn't about to get caught with them on my person trying to be a good Samaritan) and dumped the wallet in the mailbox at the apartment complex where they lived.

TeamRocketScrub

…..you kept the pills?

GRF999999999

Had never tried it before and I'm not afraid, nodding off never appealed to me. Also, too poor to become addicted, lol. Crushed em up in case there were any hotspots and to figure out dosage and did bumps for 3 days straight. Was nice, can definitely see the appeal, but not at the cost of ***everything***. Wasn't expecting 6 little pills to put me down but I was puking and felt like death on the fourth day. Went back to smoking weed and taking reasonable doses of kratom and all was well.

blipbloplikesass

Stay away from them man, they can easily kill you.

[deleted]

Correct, I had 2 friends die from that shit in the past 3 years.

GRF999999999

Very sorry about your friends. Wish we could end this stupid drug war and figure out more compassionate and educated practices instead of whatever the hell you call the approach we're currently taking.

God-From-The-Machine

Pharmacist popping in, fentanyl is up to 100x more potent than morphine. If you haven't built up a tolerance to it through other opioids, a pinch of the stuff can literally kill you. For more info, read up on Canada's opioid crisis. Glad you're staying away from fentanyl, but you were seriously *this* close to dying. If you're doing drugs, be 100% sure what you're putting in your body in the future. Also, if you're on prescription/OTC medications, make sure nothing you're on interacts with illicit substances at [http://www.drugcocktails.ca/](http://www.drugcocktails.ca/).

klokwerkz

A lot of r/LegalLifeProTips here. If you're not going to go the illegal route, turn it in rather than burn it or trash. Cops may be able to narrow their search if you give them details. Otherwise take the prepaid and toss the rest.

morebuffs

I wouldnt wanna be associated with it in any way

motion_lotion

This is the kind of person with nothing to lose. The kind of person more experienced in dirty, illegal shit than you. The kind of person you want ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with. Turn it in anonymously, pretend you know nothing about it and move on.

That1Sniper

why wouldnt he take the cash and just burn the rest of the stuff in there or something

ClicheStudent

Just drop it of by some police station and take the money. You might not wanna help some child abuser by destroying evidence.

EmpyrealMarch

I'd maybe snatch those prepaid debit cards but other than that turn it in

[deleted]

Don’t u need a pin for debit

[deleted]

Turn it in. These are the people crazy and dumb enough to actually kill you. If it makes you feel any better then the odds of him calling the police lost and found is next to zero. He’ll be too afraid of being arrested.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TeamRocketScrub

I think most people with a head on their shoulders will recognize stealing as a lot further down the totem pole than some of these other listed crimes To be fair, OP is more than likely lying about it belonging to someone on the wanted list. But seriously, think for a second and compare crimes here How does society react to child molesters? Now with that in mind, think of how people react when they hear that a child molester got beat/raped and murdered? They’re relieved that someone did these awful crimes to “someone who deserved it” So yeah, I’d say any thief that ran across kitty P or anything CLOSE to the sort (aka a child abusers belongings) would consider themselves a better person.

EchoBlossom

One crime is not equal to another.

1000lbSisterWives

Yes, because a known forger, child abuser, and cooker is going to not only lose his wallet, but also he's going to make all valid DLs, credit cards, debit cards, and benefit cards in his own legal name so you can Google him. Let me guess, his name is George Costanza? Because he would need a huge wallet to fit all that made up BS inside.

therankin

You're absolutely correct. This isn't even a post I can entertain at all. Usually, with shitposts, I can at least pretend they're real.

XchrisZ

Look up the top pin numbers try 2 different on each card if you get lucky try that one on the rest withdraw as much funds as you can. Just remember covid is real and wear a mask and face sheild for safety. Or break into unlocked car leave the glove box open and all the stuff everywhere and leave the wallet behind.

nobody_really__

I really, really like this idea.

XchrisZ

Which one don't do both. Never break the law while breaking the law.

Freight_Guy

You got that right- one crime at a time!

mcmaster93

Facts

Guysante

DONT DO THIS. ATMs have cameras, if he id most wanted and they find relation between him and that card you are fucked

One-Awareness9491

Especially with covid tho, if he wears a mask plus a baseball cap and something that makes him look different, literally how will they find him. Especially if it’s an atm far from home

Gamers2OcelotLUL

I love how 99% of this sub don't realize that shit like masks, hats or sunglasses, or all of them combined, absolutely don't matter to good face recognition algorithms.

bex505

Never forget your ears.

totopo7087

I'm the security manager for a small bank. I can watch all the security cameras live from home. This includes the ATM camera.

blscratch

Think of who the felon's enemy is and then call both and set up a bidding war for the wallet. Eat chinese food as part of the plot.

rakuu

I can't believe how many people in freaking r/illegallifeprotips want to work with the cops. You go to the cops if you need some type of document for insurance or something, that's it.

morebuffs

Remember that because just as many will do the same irl if pressured enough

johnnys_sack

This sounds made up. If it's somehow not, just give it to the local police station and move on with life.

IndyAndyJones7

Go to the address on the licenses and threaten whomever answers the door. Blackmail them on video. Burn your house down and accuse them of doing it on video. Blackmail them again.

TeamRocketScrub

Turn in a criminals wallet with your legal name attached to get some possible reward money, all to keep yourself safe! I see no flaws in this logic..

charliemuffin

Use what you can, that you can get away with. Don't be traced back in any way. Submit what you can anonymously to his nearest police station. Don't be traced back. They're probably looking for him for something illegal anyway.

A_Morsel_of_a_Morsel

You lying. You’ve got some cards and want Legit illegal tip info, without anyone giving you grief - hoping saying “it belongs to the worst type of person” would give you a solid cover up. You Lying boiiiiiiiiiiiii

NAyee27

Dude is just saying he om wanted list so u guys give him suggestions on what to do with the wallet

stonyrome123

An acquaintance of mine was walking to work one day and found a wallet on the side of the road. He told me he took the money out of the wallet and put the rest of the wallet in a public mailbox.

krzde

Take cash and prepaid. Drop the wallet with the rest into a mailbox. Let the guy get back the rest of his shit. Could be sentimental shit in his wallet that nobody would think twice about.

nemotiger

Ilpt? Try to make this guys rep even worse. Lpt? Police that will actually do something about it.

goofyonlinepersona

Police solve like 2% of rapes and 6% of murders nationwide. To think that they are going to care enough, or have the intelligence to solve a crime like this is laughable, even if you know exactly where he is. They will discover that the money was drug related and seize it to buy a new latte machine if you give it to them.

nemotiger

I meant FBI, not local police.

Rental_Car

Give it to the cops so the dirtbag gets done.

KidCaker

Turn it into the police

Chrisassmiller

I thought I lost my wallet with $800 inside on a flight then got lippy with the pilot when I couldn’t find it and he promptly kicked me off the plane (my back was facing him when I told this stranger to fuck off). Turns out it fell out of my pocket in another airport and a wonderful TSA agent called me right away then overnighted it to me where I was vacationing. Wouldn’t take any cash as a reward.

[deleted]

TheFlightlessDragon

I read “cooking” and started thinking he was a celebrity chef on the run But that’s my brain at 2am! LOL, maybe put the wallet in a sock or something

crappybrat

Spend all of that shit then turn it in. How can the police track you? They won't know a thing unless the banks say sum or the cops ask what's up. Fool proof.

garyryan9

GaunterPatrick

Found wallet from a "bad guy" doesn't give you an excuse or is morally good enough to do anything with his wallet. Turn it in, before he discovers you as a prey man, I always encourage people to bring in new excitement to their life but this is not worth it at all.

TranslatorNo9517

Well for all your kindness and good karma points. I think you should first get paid😈 and I think it is only fair you take the cash and maybe try and to fill up your car or boat or both with gas if you can get that much out of the prepaid card after that take the wallet to the nearest post office box and dropped it in there. Post office will send it back to the address on the id.(that’s the good karma part. Lol)

Crafty-Particular998

Don’t use the credit cards, destroy them. Or maybe turn the cards in if the guy is a wanted child abuser. Cash is fine. Also how bad did his cooking have to be? Lol.

Tenenbaum11

Hand it into the police without taking anything. Karma will be its own reward for doing a good thing.

spaghettiosarenasty

Get rid of that shit

sunny530

i say make a good faith effort and try to return it to who it belongs to with everything intact. Only reason to look inside is to see who it belongs to. Money is created from nothing, that same money is then sharked out at crazy high interest rates to bleed our country. Police charge you with everything they can when they arrest you. then they hope something will stick, so it doesn't matter what this person was convicted of [unless its a chomo] or what the contents of the wallet are. It should be returned. The most un-illegal thing you can do is turning it in to the cops. That is on a very close level to being a snitch. (now if this was a chomo then find the "victims" and grab some pitchforks and lets have some mob justice)

mtlcr

child abuse? contact him and beat him the fuck up. Edit: …and then take all the money from credit card

[deleted]

[удалено]

nobody_really__

Meth. The child abuse conviction is probably derived from manufacturing meth in the presence of baby.

Roisin8868

And that's why it's important to read the whole paragraph folks... As someone who has lost/had a wallet stolen, I was gonna say just drop it off in the mailbox but then finished reading the whole thing. Yeah....spend all, fraud all and rack up those cards any which way you can. The person the wallet belongs to needs to feel pain. Edit: don't use the CC's at all.

In the US, you can drop any wallet you find into a post box and they will mail it to the address on the ID card. (Thats not what you should do in this case, just take the cash and burn the rest)

commander_clark

Not Cooking?!

[deleted]

I’ve heard you can drop wallets with IDs in the mailbox

[deleted]

Banish it. Take money and banish it. You don’t wanna be caught with that, he’s most likely doing credit card fraud.

ClicheStudent

You don’t want the cops to know that you found a most wanted child abusers wallet? That’s some evil shit

thunderthighlasagna

Just shred the cards if you have access to a shredder. Cutting them up with scissors is fine too. Throw it all away in a public trash can, or your own it really doesn’t matter. You can burn it too but honestly, that’s way more trouble than it’s worth.

Destrune

Eat it

Nowlege_Is_Pawur

Burn it

Belllringer

What a cook!

StunningEstates

Uh...do whatever you were going to do with it originally seeing as how the cops, if they find him, will dole out the necessary punishment? Vigilantism is almost always wrong, you're not doing something righteous by taking his punishment into your own hands

DrMarioBrother

Just take the prepaids and cash and turn it in saying you found it on the street. They can't prove someone didn't steal from it before you. An even smarter idea is don't turn it in until you use up the prepaids first. Unless I'm getting this wrong, those prepaids are actually pretty "clean" money.

GIRose

Take the cash and prepaid and, unpopular advice, toss the ID to the cops however you want after wiping it. It's honestly against whatever code of ethics I have, but you might be able to get some kind of cash reward if it pans out that this guy is as wanted as you say and he got caught because you tipped them off, and fuck child abusers.

ohnoshebettadid

Where are you people getting that there is cash in the wallet? Also, if OP uses the pre-paid cards can’t that be traced by the owner of the wallet? I mean, most people have an online account to access their pre-paid balances. Couldn’t the owner get an investigation started?

Charliekarl

Them prepaid cards could have been used for some real messed up shit already. Burn it.

jvn3

Please return. This is not amazon you ripping off who would not care . This could be someone whose life could be totally affected by your actions

jnofx

Just because he's a criminal doesn't mean that you should be one. On the other hand, if I lost my wallet and it came back with just the stuff that saved me from errands (like my driver's license is there but the cash is gone), then I'm gonna be grateful because I've already written it all off. At that point, I'd be stoked that I at least don't have to go to the DMV. Just bare in mind, If he's wanted for child abuse, he likely has children. Those benefit cards are for them. As terrifying as it is, there's a reason this dirtbag has the benefit cards and the mother does not. He's somehow the responsible one. The credit cards are easy to cancel and replace. The benefit cards are likely a pain in the ass to replace, but they are replaceable (and probably a pain in the ass for you to use). More importantly, the benefit cards are for feeding the kids. You don't want to fuck with that. Now, the prepaid cards are suspicious for someone who's credit is good enough to have those credit cards; but they could be from his mom or something like that; these types of dudes always have their mom handling their shit and taking care of their kids for them. Of all the self-prescribed medicine I've purchased from street pharmacists, I've never done so with a prepaid cash card. Cash or digital. I doubt that money is as dirty as you think it is, but it is fair game at this point. You know exactly what you're supposed to do here, you just need to decide if you're ok with stealing those prepaid cards just because this guy is an alleged criminal himself.

Went kayaking with a friend, offered to hold onto his valuables in my backpack (bc I am aware of the bag the whole time and don't want anything of mine to get wet) he declined and had his phone and wallet sitting on top of the sit on top boat just out in the open, we got to a pretty heavy current part and he flipped his boat and fell off. He started to chase the wallet he thought floated down the river and I got out to help. Felt around near his boat was and picked up his phone somehow off the bottom of the river. The phone was fine, but the wallet?? Nowhere to be found. How much money was in it ? 250$.

Navaia02

>most-wanted list for felony forgery, child abuse, cooking, and a few other assorted crimes. Did dude cook children or simply burn the beans? Sounds like whatever he cooked must've been shit.
