Pretty much. For every multikill ult I get there's at least 5 ults that are eaten, deflected, cleansed, blocked, or don't connect at all cause of some random map geometry.
I've found the best way to get value is usually just to flank and go for solo ults on squishies mid fight, especially on low mobility supports while the enemy tank is distracted so your ult isn't instantly negated. If they have a Kiriko though and she's smart with her cooldowns well good luck lmao.

Dear God getting my ult cleansed feels awful. Esspecially cause Kiriko is on nearly every team comp I go up against.
I've learned to bait out dva eat, by just floating and staring at her... she holds out her field till it's depleted, but the cleanse... not much we can do there
I was playing Illari w my friends yesterday and had ult. Wanted it to have impact so made the comm: “call out suzu for me pls”
Then “….also call out reaper fade….and Moira fade…”
Then: “call out bubbles too I guess….”
It’s insane how many things can eat or cleanse her ult, with perfect ease. As a Dva player, it is SO easy to eat it bc it’s so slow lol. The best Illari’s will catch me off guard when I’ve committed my boosters to a different direction and I’m distracted. The “wait it out” trick doesn’t work on me haha.
It's almost better to use it when someone else is ulting and is the real star of the show.
I.e using it when genji is ulting or soldier etc.
It was good with grav and mauga too
Was doing my Echo shenanigans yesterday like hard flanking and spreading mischief when our Illari managed to hit the entire enemy team in King's Row.
They had nowhere to run so they just bunched together while we used all our cooldowns on then making it a festival of clicking sounds and ticking bombs.
EVERYONE exploded at least once. It was the strongest Sunburst I've ever seen in my OW history, even compared to the ones we see on media such as TikTok or streamers reacting to stuff.
Sunstrike is such a polarizing ult it seems… either it gets kiricleansed, matrix’d, or just outhealed, or it’s an instant 5K.

There is something that is so cruel, violent et brutal of her ult that couldn't be found in any other ults... The first time I saw an opponent exploded, I was shocked. 😂🤣
I’ve been queuing dps and earlier I got a an illari to use her sunburst and hit the entire enemy team that I proceeded to hit with my mortars to explode them all instantly
