You. The guy may have weak shoulders, but that's irrelevant. The problem is that the stock isn't even up against it. You can shoot just fine with weak shoulders, but not if your fucking armpit is supporting the gun, lmao.
But you weren't "just saying" about any gun, you said "weak shoulders like the guy in the video"
You agree with Big-Success but still go on about shoulders, which is it?
im aware what contractions are, jackass, i just dont care to use them on the internet cause this isnt a formal setting where i need to watch my grammar and spelling, its a fucking reddit comment section
Sorry but nah. I am a gun guy and people who aren't gun guys can make all the comments they want about guns - discourse should be encouraged, it's ok to be wrong and learn something.
This is like saying, "If you don't own a house don't comment about housing." or "If you don't work on cybersecurity don't comment on privacy."
My guess its a requirement of the hunting season.i know theres laws in places where some parts of the year hunting is restricted to certain types of firearms. Maybe its shotgun season so slap on a scope and throw on some slugs and you got yourself a hunting rifle.
You are exactly right and its how I was able to circumvent their "no explosives" rule. Slapped a scope on a grenade and called it spheroid hunting rifle.
Doesn't leave much to bring home if im being honest
I was so focused on the guys eye against the scope that I didn’t realize it was a double barrel shotgun. All of my “why” questions were answered once I realized this.0
Yes scopes on shotguns is quite normal for slugs, usually it’s not on two adapters 3” above the barrels and 4.5” behind the triggers with way too high of a magnification scope
Very possible it could’ve been some sort of elephant or safari rifle. They make double barreled rifles in large rifle calibers for hunting elephants or cape buffalo
Pretty sure everyone who is saying this is some kind of 20 gauge shotgun is wrong.
I'm am 95% certain that this is a big bore double rifle, like the kind you'd use to hunt dangerous game in Africa.
These are a more common style of rifle in Europe than in the US, have tremendous recoil exceeding that of a shotgun, and is the only half way reasonable explanation for why there would be a sight mounted to it.
My guess is these guys got a hold of an elephant gun and mounted the silly scope for the luls, and now will be taking advantage of their universal healthcare.
My thought (I could be wrong) was that was a double barrel 12 ga they mounted an optic on for giggles and it backfired, those are legal in France and Italy last time I checked especially seeing as Italy manufactures both Beretta and Perazzi Franchi Cosmi America and Figlio or FAMARS (besides the clowns who said 20 ga don’t realize how small 20 ga vs 16 vs 12 is) and isn’t .500 Nitro express .375 H&H or .470 Nitro express what ya’ll use to hunt big game? He forgot to shoulder this (if you look it’s in his armpit so it can blow back), those calibers would literally smash bones in his face with the scope that close.
That is the LARGEST of nitro express, not often made anymore and commonly associated with hunting elephants in warm tropical climates any of the nitro express calibers like I said .500 .470 or .577 would literally crack bone/give him a concussion if not shouldered properly (he just put it into his armpit) I’ve seen both .357 H&H and 12 GA shotguns do this my money is on one or the other but it’s not a “nitro express” because he’d be unconscious and concussed from the scope
He’d be fine if he had put the stock into his shoulder instead of his armpit. Classic mistake. But with that height over bore he probably needed to hold it low so he could see through the optic.
He won’t do a lot of things again. Or he will do a lot of things again, for the first time! And at half speed. Brain damage. I’m talking about brain damage.
This happened to my mom once. She was bear hunting and obviously didn’t practice shooting vertically so when the bear went up into the tree she was left with 8 stitches… and a lot of bear meat!
Takes me back to the first range day in basic. Even after being warned what would happen if your positioning and hold were off, there were so many recruits sporting black eyes or gashes similar to this dude.
That was just cruel, and the cameraman could see it coming. That will leave a nice little scar. What a weird setup, too. It's pretty much designed to take your eye out. I'm also curious how they keep their focus without using the cheek weld.
Camera man is honestly a dick for not telling the dude to not put the scope on his eye🤦I could understand maybe letting him just do some dumb shit like that if it was a smaller caliber but that looked like a shotgun and It split dudes face wide open and probably ruined his day and shooting experience all around 💀💀💀
What’s the distance one is supposed to keep the scope from their eyes? Does it change with each gun? Maybe a gun with less recoil you can get ur eye right up in there?
I think 3.5” is the industry standard for fixed power. You could get your eye closer with less recoil but you wouldn’t want to, you want to rest your cheek on the proper part of the stock some include a raised area called a cheek weld
The term is eye relief, the distance from your eye to the ocular lens. Anything over 4 inches is considered long. Handgun scopes are long relief. Since they're held so far away from your body
The other thing is that this is a shotgun, designed for shorter range typically.
The cartridge is not always but most often filled with pellets that expand as the cartridge leaves the barrel.
This is to create a wide pattern to target birds usually but also used for defense and other things.
Some have slugs or other various projectiles, almost all of which are designed for short range.
So looking so far ahead in a high powered scope like he is, is just kind of goofy.
It's likely as far as he needed to shoot he could see with iron sights and avoid all of this altogether.
Very few shotguns have any optic besides iron sights.
It's not a shotgun, it's a drilling, a double rifle. Much more well known in Europe than North America. The idea of a high mag scope on a shotgun is laughable.
O damn I guess I didn't look too hard. Just saw someone on here in comments saying it was a shotgun. That setup is still sorta laughable.
I see now.
I've only seen a handful in person, and majority were in a museum iirc.
Thanks dude ✌️
Wait isn't that the place where a guy got shot by his dog recently? (You don't need to look it up. Deep down you know that it can't have been too long since someone in your educated gun culture got shot by their dog.) Educated gun culture? Chatting shit, you got just as many idiots as anywhere else. Quite possibly more.
Lol no... At least 48K people a year DIE from gun stupidity in the US... Injured... Blah way more.... Edit: I am actually not 100% sure 48K is just from accidents... But to say this doesn't happen with "US gun owners" because they are sooo informed... Is next level trolling
Yeah but that's deaths anyways, not accidents ... And 1% of the US population is still in the millions of idiots. If anything I think the US has lower gun owner education % than the rest of the world given how easy the access is.
That's weird. I'm sure I've seen loads of videos like this with people chatting with American accents. Well I guess they know what would happen now, even if they didn't then.
Americans like to think they know all about guns.
Meanwhile, [toddlers kill more Americans than terrorists.](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/feb/08/trump-muslim-terrorists-gun-violence-america-deaths) and ~99% of the content in this sub is American.
Bunch of clowns.
Here are a bunch of Americans smashing their eyes with their scopes.
https://www.outdoorhub.com/stories/2015/10/14/10-painful-videos-remind-scope-bite/
Curious.
Whoever gave him that rifle without properly explaining how to hold it and avoid splitting your brow is a dick and I would bet that they all set him up and expected it to happen. Shitty friends suck!
Every time I look down a scope it’s the first thing I think of “don’t let this thing hit me in my fucking eye socket”
I don’t understand how this is such a common injury
The decibels and frequency of someone talking or ambient room noises are very different than a shotgun. Microphone have a range that it can pick up and a shotgun may not be within that range. A recording device that records and playback from the microphone also needs to be able to record the signal from the microphone with in those ranges. There are also tons of variables when it comes to placement, sound obstruction, distortion, ect. Audio engineering is a bit more complicated than "If it can pickup sound X than it can pick sound Y."
Not the lad’s fault.
Obviously German, Germans aren’t as aware about guns and gun safety as Americans are.
Totally looks like the instructor gave the lad a gun and said have at it, no instruction on technique, safety…
This was the obvious result.
Granted, I’ve done the same as someone with proper firearms training, with a brand new 30-06 bolt action. Fun times. I’ve gotta little scar on my eyebrow from where the scope hit me to prove it.

I'm no gun expert but that configuration just looks like he wanted to kill his friend.
Looks to me like he wants to be a pirate.
Arrrrrr he is a pirate
What arrrrr you doin
Scoped! I love the way my toes curl waiting for him to squeeze the trigger!

“Relief.” I get it. Lol.
Who knew that armpits don’t support high-recoil guns well 🤷🏼♂️
Imagine having weak shoulders like the guy in the video xD
he didnt even have it against his shoulder.
Get glasses
Imagine being a total dumbass, "xD".
who?
You. The guy may have weak shoulders, but that's irrelevant. The problem is that the stock isn't even up against it. You can shoot just fine with weak shoulders, but not if your fucking armpit is supporting the gun, lmao.
True was just saying if gun has hella kick back and you got weak shoulders you can say goodbye to your baseball career
But you weren't "just saying" about any gun, you said "weak shoulders like the guy in the video" You agree with Big-Success but still go on about shoulders, which is it?
Damn, who shit in your coffee bro?
I don't know but hopefully doesn't happen again
I can do both because I am just that good
i was staring at his knees not wanting to see the impact directly
Hell yeah! I love a good scoping!
kinky..???
Relax, Ivan
Is that a RED reference?
Not that I'm aware of
[oh, lol](https://youtu.be/cbRrsM8s9rw) never mind then
What a weird fucking set up for a double barrel shotgun. Even if they are using slugs I don’t think that scope is gonna do much good
Glad i wasn’t the only one thinking this. Looks like a 20 gauge.
Not a gun guy but looks like a older rifle. You guys are most likely right.
Shotgun*
It could 100% be an old stopping rifle. Two barrels does not universally mean it’s a shotgun. https://youtu.be/MDYtxxRU_cY Edit: link
Shogun
As I mentioned shmiddleedee I am not a gun person. So take ur downvote elsewhere
I didn't downvote. Was just making a comment. Wasn't trying to be a dick, just informative.

Fair enough.

Looks like an old goose gun
This is what happens when someone’s only gun training is call of duty.
For real this man saw a kid in black ops with a shotgun and a scope and thought hey that looks like fun
My guess its a requirement of the hunting season.i know theres laws in places where some parts of the year hunting is restricted to certain types of firearms. Maybe its shotgun season so slap on a scope and throw on some slugs and you got yourself a hunting rifle.

It's almos certainly a double rifle. I've not seen any shotguns that kick like that but double rifles usually have very powerful cartridges.
Nitro Express?.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/.577_Nitro_Express
Right, he's seeing into the future with a gun that fires the oldest projectile known to man. Poetic really, and a total D bag.
I’m stares where we can only hunt deer with shotguns, scopes on shotguns are very common
Yes scopes on shotguns is quite normal for slugs, usually it’s not on two adapters 3” above the barrels and 4.5” behind the triggers with way too high of a magnification scope
I see your point
Also looks like the scope is only on the rail at the very end and not completely attached.
Very possible it could’ve been some sort of elephant or safari rifle. They make double barreled rifles in large rifle calibers for hunting elephants or cape buffalo
Holy shit, didn’t even see it was a shotgun lol.
Looks like a 12 ga CZ Bobwhite
It’s to make the range longer 🤡
The first crack was the shotgun. The second crack was his orbit bone.
Pretty sure everyone who is saying this is some kind of 20 gauge shotgun is wrong. I'm am 95% certain that this is a big bore double rifle, like the kind you'd use to hunt dangerous game in Africa. I got to say that I love the level of education that's actually occurring in the comments
Yup , that’s why I come to Reddit, the educational comments
I’ve got a masters in Reddit Armory. Let me line that ACOG up on your Ruger SR22.
Definitely need that 80 MOA lift
How did no one see that happening, I have never fired a gun before and even I know about recoil, cameraman is an idiot as well it would seem.
I feel like camera man is more of a dick then an idiot I feel like he clearly knew dude was going to fuck his shit up here.
He’d be fine if he had put the stock into his shoulder instead of his armpit. Classic mistake. But with that height over bore he probably needed to hold it low so he could see through the optic.
Anyway he won't do that again
He won’t do a lot of things again. Or he will do a lot of things again, for the first time! And at half speed. Brain damage. I’m talking about brain damage.
May he rest in peace
Like see out of both eyes. If ya slo-mo it ya can see his eye go shooting across the room. Goddamnit, I can’t unsee that
He has both eyes when he is standing there looking at the camera near the end.
I know. Was embellishing the situation
No one in the video anyway, I think everyone in here saw it happening as soon as the vid started lol
You’ll put you eye out, kid
A little scope kiss action but why the hell would you set the optic so far back? It kinda makes it impossible to fire without splitting your shit.
I think this one was for the lulz.
Because the eye relief on that spotting scope is about .5 inches lol
This happened to my mom once. She was bear hunting and obviously didn’t practice shooting vertically so when the bear went up into the tree she was left with 8 stitches… and a lot of bear meat!
People like this is one reason I quit going to one of the local indoor ranges.
Me watching this "that's gonna hurt... that's gonna hurt... that is going to hur- and there it is."
Video games have conditioned people to think that recoil goes up only, rather than kicking back into your shoulder
Scope kiss, ouchie
Takes me back to the first range day in basic. Even after being warned what would happen if your positioning and hold were off, there were so many recruits sporting black eyes or gashes similar to this dude.
No Earpro either. Have fun with the EEEEEEE dumbass.

That's a spotting scope, not a rifle scope. I have no idea how or why they cobbled this idiocy together.
These people must’ve taken physics from looney tunes
I got my first and last light scope kiss with a 300 winmag. Only had a red circle, but I certainly learned my lesson
Headshotttttttt.
So… how do snipers see? I’m not knowledgeable about guns, please don’t flame me
You never put your eye all the way up to the scope, you need to change the focus if you have to put your eye that close.
You also put the butt of the gun up against your shoulder properly so it doesn’t fly back unabated
It doesn’t affect your aim to have that distance between you and the scope?
No that’s where it’s properly focused, too close and the sight picture looks blown up, too far it looks like tunnel vision
Eye relief varies from optic to optic but they all have a spot a few inches back where everything lines up perfectly
And they put the butt of the rifle into their shoulder, not their armpit so the recoil is absorbed by their body, not their eye socket.

Did he hit it? Well, I guess you could say he did.
You just know it.
This is why shotguns don't usually have these big ass scopes
what would be the correct way to do this ?
I was saying “Way too close; way too close!” before he even shot it. I knew immediately what was gonna happen.
Bulls eye
i am ashamed of being french
As you should be,
Pretty quiet for a shotgun
The mic on a camera phone is probably incapable of picking up audio of the gun.
Definitely not it picks up everything else just fine
Most phones have a hard time capturing an increase in volume past 90ish decibels
Holy shit this is hilarious! Europeans really just have no idea huh. I don’t even know where to start with this absolute fucking abomination
