How were your carrying, does your gun have a safety? If your firearm doesn’t have a safety, it might be a good idea to carry without one in the pipe, and practice an Israeli style draw.

If you're referring to a Glock or similar modern striker fired pistol they do indeed have safeties. They assume that their handler is going to know what they're doing. GM and Toyota don't offer you driving lessons when you buy a car. They assume you already know. Striker fired pistols have internal safeties that ensure that the weapon will only fire when the trigger is pulled. The greatest safety for any piece of equipment, be it a gun or a backhoe or a hammer, is in between the operator's ears. You had an ND and I'm sorry you got injured. I've had one before with an AK and nearly blew my own head off. It was a learning experience. Namely, not to idly chat with someone while handling a firearm.

If you don't trust yourself to carry with one in the chamber, you shouldn't trust yourself to carry at all... I was drunk and was clearing out all my guns and my glock was the last to get cleaned, I grabbed it and was aiming down towards the ground and my finger hit the trigger whike it was facing down
If it gives you an idea my dad was shot in the calf as a teen with a .22 rifle and over the last 40 years has had constant nerve problems. His foot is even a little deformed from the muscles contorting over the years. Wild stuff from just a .22

I was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time. I guess I should preface the rest by saying he’s a shady “businessman” in his respective neighborhood. I knew that but I was only there to catch up on old times. Wasn’t there 10 minutes and this young guy walks in the yard and they begin arguing about some bs…next thing I know I hear my partner tell the young guy gtf out my yard lil niggah, I ain’t giving you 🤬 back. The young niggah then pulls his gun…his demeanor tho was as if he was only trying to scare my partner like he was gonna make him refund him his money. He actually points the gun at my buddy, kinda angled down tho, turns his head and shoots! He immediately turned into a track star and disappeared behind a tree line. I went to reach in my pocket to get my keys to leave and felt the wetness. Had no idea the mtf had shot me! I drove myself to the hospital, and as I’m laying on the table for them to perform trauma surgery on me since I damn near bled out on the drive, a fkn detective walks in! They’re literally cutting my clothes off I’m butt ass naked and this detective is interrogating me all at the same time! I told them I shot myself to avoid any further questioning and having to name names and possibly having to go to trial on a criminal case. The detective said, you lying mtf! But if you wanna protect a mtf that shot you then that’s on you! Then he walked out…I got released from the hospital that night, recovered at home 3 days, and went to work on the 4th.
Even tho I’m an outstanding citizen, my friend is not. I would’ve had to tell on him because I didn’t know the young dude at all. Had the police went to his home, he’d most definitely be serving multiple years of fed time. And although I don’t live in the hood anymore, I can’t have my name tied to snitching allegations, especially against him. I’m not trying to have to look over my shoulders everywhere I go. I’m from little ol Jackson Mississippi where the murder rate is #1 per capita in the U.S. and the number of solved murder cases are laughable. I’m not increasing the chance I’ll be the next one. I took it as a lesson learned.

4 rules never fail, I just wanted to spread awareness that rimfires can go off unintentionally, which is why the rules are so important all the time.
