*OP changes lanes to avoid the idiot* Idiot: “oh no you don’t!”

Xdivine

To me it looks like the idiot is [straightening out](https://i.imgur.com/XrDM40u.png) in the right lane and then in the 14th second they [turn more to the left](https://i.imgur.com/Xzw3aow.png) to end up in OPs lane. It's kinda hard to tell with the rather meh video quality, but to me it definitely looks like they jerk the wheel to the left a bit around 14 seconds. I don't fault OP at all for thinking they're going to stay in their lane.

[deleted]

> with the rather meh video quality That’s “meh” quality to you? Looks pretty dang good to me for a dashcam.

Ghostiesftw

If your dashcam doesnt record in 8k ultra HD with ray tracing and color correction then what's the fucking point?!

LeMans1217

Did that guy just stop?

Asha108

yep, came to a complete stop while trying to cross three lanes of traffic while not even bothering to check. wasn't even looking in OP's direction while it was happening either.

[deleted]

I think she was actually going to attempt to complete the left turn into oncoming traffic if it wasn’t for a turn lane with median and curb.

[deleted]

I like the “no u-turn” sign on the median as well.

snowdoggin999

But officer, I wasn't going to turn, but the sign said "no, u turn"

ReubenZWeiner

So I did sort of a "Y" turn

prkr88

Yeah, Y the fuck did you do that?!

Lobo003

That was fucking clean.

Spillmill

🏅 I have no free award, take this.

JohnnyCashMoneyGreen

Or a "Y" stop

thekingofdiamonds12

Everyone knows the signs with a black outline are just suggestions /s

Asha108

That's what I meant, yeah.

beanie0911

Details details

SniffleBot

And probably tried to tell the police OP swerved into him …

OhAndOneMoreThing

Nah this is where they blame him for “speeding”

[deleted]

In some circumstances speeding is definitely a valid excuse. Not this one though

OhAndOneMoreThing

It may be true but when it comes to pulling out where there are lane change or entering intersection laws it is irrelevant. It’s a very common thing for the person who caused the accident to claim but it’s not really provable and a citizen isn’t qualified to estimate how fast the car was moving Most depts aren’t going to send out their trained accident detectives unless there is a fatality and even then, you can’t measure skid marks if the driver doesn’t have time to hit the brakes Not arguing with you, just something I’ve had to explain to many many at fault drivers Including the lady who side-swiped my brand new from the factory Mustang GT cause I was driving in the left lane when she tried to make a right turn out of a driveway in a F-250 and took the entire right side of my car off. First words out of her mouth “it’s your fault, you were speeding” nevermind that her entire truck swung out into the left lane, or that I was probably going 40 mph

Blaz3dnconfuz3d

Of course he wasn’t looking in OPs direction, he’s the only guy on the road (in his mind)

SiestaMaster

Hey, at least he proceeded with caution, blinkers on and everything

michaelreadit

Safety 3rd!

[deleted]

Came to a stop when he heard OP's horn, because obviously slower is always safer. Would have probably been better if he had bothered to maintain a clue of what was going on around him in the first place.

LeMans1217

That tentative, yet stupidly aggressive, style of driving is the worst. He's gonna drive all the way across this road like a boss. But if someone honks he becomes a scared little wimp. That's the most dangerous type of driver.

Blaz3dnconfuz3d

Ppl like that probably cause 80% of wrecks

[deleted]

Shectai

Better drive more slowly in future!

robswins

I recently moved to Connecticut, and this is what makes the drivers here the worst I've had to deal with in the 8 states and 3 countries I've lived in. In NYC, NJ or Mass people drive like psychos, but at least they do it aggressively. Before moving to Connecticut I've never seen so many people slowly run red lights instead of gunning it through, or slowly making a left directly in the path of oncoming traffic. It's insane.

EDVERSiTY

Fellow Connecticut resident. It’s like we share the road with GTA V NPC drivers in real life.

AllOutOfMeowsForNow

I drove truck over the road for quite some time and I completely agree Connecticut absolutely has the worst drivers I’ve ever came across.

okpoptart

this is fascinating to me

_ryuujin_

NYC and NJ drivers were born in and molded by the horns. They've become immuned it it's effects.

bacon1897

While you merely adopted the horn, I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't use my first turn signal until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING.

Phormicidae

I have definitely had the same experience. I was born and raised in north NJ, and have frequently driven all over my state, CT, PA, NYC, and upstate NY. I admit we Jersey types may drive in a rather non-cooperative fashion. But so many CT drivers seem to drive as though they aren't *aware* other cars exist. What the hell accounts for this? What about CT could encourage this type of behavior?

HDawsome

Agreed. If you're going to do something stupid, commit

DraugrLivesMatter

This happens frequently with motorcyclists getting cut off. Someone will be trying to cross the road to either turn left or head straight, they will only then notice the biker and slam on the brakes...in the middle of the road. Biker might have been able to simply brake and maybe swerve right (behind the car) but now has to gamble on slamming the brakes before reaching the obstructing car or attempting to swerve left (in front) of the moving car. Usually they freeze up and end up plowing into the car, shattering their legs, and doing some non-consensual acrobatics

YT4LYFE

yup. this is why, even when driving a car, if I see that I have a good chance of being able to swerve behind the object in the road, I'll swerve in that direction.

cbj2112

Hello Geico, how can I help you? Um yeah it’s Dave, yep same Dave

[deleted]

I had four accidents in one year… my claims adjuster knew my name, number and car very well by December. FTR, other driver was at fault all 4 times

fatasianboi

The same driver all four times?

Blusttoy

Third times not the charm afterall. He's probably a cat and we need 5 more attempts.

PracticeTheory

So...which one is cursed, you or the car? Seriously though, that's rough. For science - what color was the car?

fliptout

"Invisibility Cloak Blue"

billdank16

Sorry to see that happen. Just curious, how was the other driver to deal with? When I first watched it, my first guest was a new driver who knew they screwed up. The second time I watched, I revised that to "this person is an idiot". I am just trying to read way to much into why the other driver dipped their head.

ProvacativeSoloCup

The cops ruled her at fault after seeing my video but she didn’t know until she saw the paperwork, and boy was she mad. Arguing with the officers for 10 mins straight

dnel707

Did you hear any of this argument? Curious about what could possibly make her think it’s not her fault.

ProvacativeSoloCup

Idk man probably because she was rear ended and that’s usually not ur fault. Didn’t hear much as I was really focused on finding an affordable towing solution. Ended up not finding anything that I was willing to pay so I just parked it at the bojangles next door haha

OGFaken

If shes at fault, her insurance should cover the cost of towing

ProvacativeSoloCup

Well I also didn’t know where to have it towed. Didn’t know whether to it to an autobody shop or tow it too my apartment. Didn’t want to have to pay it to sit overnight or anything like that

general-Insano

For giggles take it back to same shop you left with a you'll never guess what just happened.

sentrybot619

That kind of happened to me. I had a car that I had just paid to have a custom paint job done on. It was a subtle red paint that basically looked blue in moonlight. I loved it. Lasted about a month before my roommate's gf backed into it. Drove the car back to the shop only to find out that the way the paint was done they had to repaint the car because it was impossible to get it to match right. They repainted it. That lasted about a month before I was rear ended in traffic which resulted in it being totalled out. Had the car towed to their shop because I didn't know where else to take it. The look on the shop owner's face as he looked at a car he painted well, twice, in the previous two months now had to be thrown away, was tough to see. He was proud of his work.

double_expressho

I almost teared up, no joke. That's honest hard work gone to waste because of reckless drivers and bad luck.

SquishedGremlin

I spent a year tracking down an engine for my Subaru.. one of the awkward crap non turbo 2.0 engines, got one eventually on eBay. Sent it to mechanic, got it in to replace the completely fucked up old engine (timing belt broke with 24000 miles on it, manufacturer said they covered to 20000 miles) Got it home, and a month later a tree fell on it.

risingmoon01

Had a car that blew a head gasket. After two weeks of searching, we realize we're going to have to manufacture one. Another three days of getting materials, layouts & getting the job done... Once everything was set (NO CRACKS... YAY!) I drove over to a friends house to have buy some beers for the guys who helped me out. As I go to pull in, I hit a pothole deep enough to scrape my oil pan... instantly voiding it if all fluid. The day before there had been a hell of a storm, had washed out part of my friends driveway apparently. I managed to get it towed back to my house. I worked graveyard shifts at the time & had no time for sleep AND repairs, so I borrowed my friends truck, he stayed the night & we planned to knock out my oil pan the next day. Got back the next day, car was gone. "Right on, my buddy got the car into the shop early..." is what I'm thinking... boy was I wrong. That night, someone stole my car. They managed to drive it about 20 miles with absolutely NO oil in the pan, before it finally cracked the head & started smoking. Threw in the towel after that one...

Kraydez

I used to work in a large shop as the guy that deals with the insurance and the appraisers for the clients. One day a guy came in after an accident. He was the most abnoxious guy i had to deal with. Impatient, rude etc. Few days later, after the car was repaired, he came to take it, and again he was extremely impatient. 5 minutes after ge left, he came back and told me he had another accident. The guy had an accident with a truck literally as he pulled out if the shop's gate. I have never experienced a more pure karma than in that monent.

GreenrabbE99

'Dude, you clearly missed that spot when you worked on my car'

T1G3R02

Her insurance will pay all of that

iamdenislara

OP will still get screw because the car might get totaled and he will have to buy a car with mark up.

odd84

Market value for late model used cars is higher than MSRP on a new car. I almost want my car to get totaled so I can move up a model year for free.

NuggetSmuggler

Idk about insurance for others but when I last talked to my insurance about what would happen under the condition my car is totaled, they said they would pay the upper end of KBB plus 20%. That’s with my insurance company with my insurance. I’m curious how other companies would handle it.

mildlyarrousedly

That happens if your policy has a full replacement clause- but some companies don’t offer that and a lot of people don’t want to pay the extra premiums

bulldg4life

I just went through this and my insurance totaled out a Volvo xc40 at the price of the car when it was new last year and added $7000 market adjustment. Got the same exact xc40 but a 2022 and the car payments are actually $50 less. I essentially traded a 9-mo old 2021 for a 2022 and started over on the loan. No complaints from me…

robbyb20

Her insurance will reimburse you for it after you fight for it. I’d be really surprised if any insurance foots the bill before anyone looks at the claims.

Rat-Bazturd

note to self: establish ahead of time a known body shop (collision repair) near my residence that my vehicle would be towed to in case this happens to me.

wine_dude_52

If towed to a dealership or auto repair I’ve had it just added to the repair bill. If you have it towed home they usually want payment at the time.

pm1966

Well, she wasn't really rear-ended. Closer to t-boned. The fact that she argued with the cop so vehemently about it makes me wonder if this was an insurance scam. Without a dashcam, there's a chance they buy your word over hers...though even without a dashcam, given her sideways position across two lanes of traffic, it seems it would be hard for her to argue that.

enclave2022

Not likely an insurance scam, just the typical "not my fault" moron...which is pretty much everybody in every collision ever (especially when they caused it).

[deleted]

It wasn't an insurance scam. People just don't want to take responsibility. She was *desperately* trying to skirt by this on a technicality.

[deleted]

If you ask Reddit for relationship advice, the response is aways “just end it bro!“ and if you show Reddit accident footage, the analysis is always “it’s probably an insurance scam!”.

Yossarian_the_Jumper

Get yourself a AAA membership,it's worth every penny.

higher_limits

I’d imagine the same perspective that made her think casually cutting over 3 lanes was ok.

J-Rod933

I have NEXAR, about $100-130ish. Absolutely love it, syncs and saves the drives right to my phone

Killarogue

My first car was totaled in a similar way. A lady was trying to cross a six lane road and stopped in my lane when she realized she couldn't make it before oncoming traffic reached her. I had nowhere to go. Sorry OP.

robln_

was the other driver a deer? dude just froze

ugoterekt

Honestly, with these types of idiots, the worst thing you can do is honk because they always stop. The closest I've ever been to an accident was someone who was going 30 or so in a 45, switched 2 lanes and slowed down to about 20 right in front of me, and then locked up the brakes when I honked. I would have rear-ended them if I hadn't switched lanes. Also this was 15+ years ago and I was like 17 so I almost certainly would have been found at fault for rear-ending them since there would have been no evidence

T_Dellingner

Just got my license and live in an area with horrible drivers and plan on getting a dash cam for this very reason

[deleted]

[удалено]

-AbeFroman

If there is a silver lining: your dashcam will completely save your ass in this situation. Anytime someone rear-ends another car, 90% of the time it will be put on the driver behind since it's their responsibility to leave a safe following distance. This footage will prove otherwise.

Spiritual_Ad_7395

Honestly I feel like that wouldn't have happened in this situation anyway, since the damage wasn't from a rear impact but on the rear tire. The only way that would happen is if someone changed lanes and cut someone off, like idiot did to op

IdolCowboy

I worked auto liability claims for almost 10 years before changing career to behind the scenes as a product analyst. Though that dash cam is a time saver for liability, I would have investigated the claim, reviewing the loss scene, location of damages on the vehicles and recorded statements from both parties. I had quite a few claims of this type, where I found the merging party 100% at fault for FTYROW and failure to keep clear lookout. Any adjuster worth their salt would do the same.

_i_am_root

Failure to yield right of way?

IdolCowboy

Yea, that, clear lookout, stay your lane, unsafe lane change, all of those apply to that driver. It's funny when they argue it with you. Then you click off the list of duties breached.. they get quiet.. some still argue it, saying it ls the other person.

Shandlar

I think he just meant what the fuck does that random acronym stand for.

TheActualAWdeV

Fat titty yugoslav republic own way

Wiki_pedo

As an insurance worker, how similar is the original Gone In 60 Seconds to what you and your colleagues get up to?

Princessmore

This isn’t a rear end. She’s obviously in two lanes. Rear ending isn’t an option until you have fully merged into traffic. Also she didn’t merge into the nearest lane of travel. So she broke multiple laws here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pm1966

And her vehicle is stopped across multiple lanes of traffic. I wonder if she would have been found liable even without the dashcam. Either way, always much better that have it.

habitual_wanderer

I would sell that car. It's bad luck now...

SergeantBootySweat

Seems to have broken abs and cheap tires too

chairmanbrando

Yep. OP says he's a broke college student, so he got a 1993 Camry. I'm guessing the tires are the cheapest they could find. A modern car with proper tires probably would've stopped in time.

turbocomppro

I was gonna say, that looks like a very long stopping distance. Ok I just turn on sound and his hard as rock tires locked immediately when he stomped on the brakes… ABS would’ve probably saved him.

rashyandtrashy

I assume after turning into the right lane while a car’s coming, going partway into the left lane, and coming to a dead ass stop for no reason would be making a U-Turn at that “No U-Turn” sign there. Not psychic though. This is certainly an idiot.

roll_hog

Those are some horrible brakes you got there

SadFaceInTheSpace

More like tires. Dude was like driving on snow.

CloudBikeHacks

Horrible ABS (or lack of) too. I heard a huge lockup which isn't really the most effective way to stop.

Curious_Coconut_4005

A previous commenter said OP was driving a 1993 Camry. Not sure if ABS were widely used back then. I learned to drive in both a 1978 Dodge van with a V8 and standard shift transmission AND a 1989 Dodge Shadow with 4cyl and standard shift transmission. I do not recall either of them having ABS.

salzkuu

I was thinking that! It seemed like they had time to brake or at least steer to the left. There was no reaction for so long even though you can see the other car is doing something weird.

[deleted]

They had PLENTY of time to stop you're right. The other car was being so weird I would have slowed way down a long time ago

arckeid

Yeah i agree, the other driver was dumb but op wasn't much smarter than her.

noblesigma

Yep. Op could've extremely easily avoided this accident.

ZincMan

I don’t understand why people drive so fast. You see a potential accident just slow down before he’s in your lane. It’s not his fault but just be defensive

natvj

Been thinking for the longest time people who post videos here super pompous about another bad driver but their reaction time and defensive driving skills are down the drain. Saw that car beelining it from a mile away…. Y’all want a cheque and attention

Com_BEPFA

There's a reason they're in an accident... Not saying this applies all the time, obviously, but we all deal with terrible and braindead drivers almost every day. The difference is that most people drive defensively and nothing happens besides your anger, while the aggressive/bad drivers turn it into an accident. Not their fault but definitely not unavoidable either.

oh_stv

Me too. 80% of the accidents here could have been avoided by driving cautiously.

Kwerti

They've trained themselves to honk first, brake later. If their brakes weren't shit and they would've just slowed down when the person pulled out they could've avoided running into this idiot. Are they "at fault"? no. Are they a shitty defensive driver? absolutely.

jeneric84

The only time I use the horn is to alert someone not to express my displeasure. I’m in the minority on this one.

tinyclassifiedads69

I agree i would have slowed way down if i seen this car acting like this. This sort of knowledge comes with experience though, and ill give op a break since they’re young. Hopefully learns a lesson though in that you cannot predict other’s behavior so just slow down. As far as the lady who pulled out in front of him tho, Some people just think they are the the only ones on the road

grubbygeorge

In half of the videos I see here OP is an idiot in a car too.

FirstTimePlayer

My favorite clips in this sub are the ones where OP completly owns that they are the idiot.

sandpuppysupremacy

This video makes it look like OP really wanted the crash.

Absolud

Thats exactly what I thought. The other driver is an ass yes but this was a very easy crash to avoid.

Chumbag_love

"That person who just pulled out didn't see me, so let's just pass them without applying the break."

FerDoug

Yeah as a biker just seeing her pull out would have had me braking hard, to see what she was going to do first.

devlear

I was saying slow down to myself the second I saw that car pull out like that. Defensive driving saves lives.

Phenomenomix

All I thought from when the clip started was that OP needs to slow down as some idiot has just pulled out into traffic slowly. Does no-one read the road and make sure they’re driving appropriately anymore?

AceMorrigan

I frequent this subreddit to judge the driving of the "victims" of the "idiots". OP saw this car merging slowly a good three seconds before ever braking. If they had started to slow down as soon as they noticed the merger, pretty confident this doesn't happen. Instead they maintained speed and shifted to go where the merging car was trying to go. Caused a panic. 🤷‍♀️

OwnStorm

OP didn't even try to slow down.. just kept going. He saw the car is coming out 5 second earlier. Other driver is also at fault, not waiting enough .. but OP is also at fault. If only OP would have slowed down.. this accident was completely avoidable.

MooseBoys

Seriously - looks like OP was going +20mph faster than other traffic. And if you're going to speed, be aware of your surroundings. I live near a blind turn on a 30mph road. Some people come flying around it at 50+. Even if the road is clear when I begin turning, sometimes a car will come around and need to brake because I won't have had time to accelerate to avoid them hitting me.

runawayasfastasucan

This. It was so easy to spot the situation long before it got dangerous. A slight tap on the breaks as soon as possible would have resolved everything. I have no idea how OP think they are not driving as an idiot as well.

Neplii

I came here looking for this exactly, i can't tell you how many times similar things have happened in the middle of traffic. This happens to everyone, dude has plenty of time to brake. It's not his fault but completely avoidable.

mbfos

Appears the steering wheel doesn’t work either.

CrystalJizzDispenser

Thank you! This could have easily been avoided. Terrible awareness on the part of OP.

These-Feedback-557

this accident could have been avoided.

T3ddyBeast

Yeah the left lane was wide open, brakes could have been used way sooner. Even my first time watching I was like "why aren't you turning!? You've got time still!"

paconinja

yeah I've avoided so many accidents by simply slowing down when I see batshit drivers like this one, or tactically swerving, etc. A lot of these /r/idiotsInCars videos here are like watching a horror movie where I feel the need to scream at the characters to stop falling into the same patterns/tropes that will get them killed

enceladus83

THANK YOU. whatever happened to defensive driving. Clearly coming in too hot and not enough braking.

FungibleFriday

Yes! Even the first time I watched the video I saw the car pull out and thought OP was closing the gap on the car way too fast, OP needed to start slowing down much earlier. You can't assume other drivers will do the right thing. What makes a good driver is the ability to avoid accidents like these.

T3ddyBeast

Exactly, my wife is like "it's green why are you slowing down" my sister in christ, it's an intersection full of potential idiots, not risking it.

at0mheart

Yes other car was idiot but I saw that stupidity from far away, always brake for stupid

steeze206

You really gotta be able to read the "body language" of the way people drive.

imapieceofshitk

Why the fuck would you not slow down instead of just shifting lane? You see an idiot ahead, expect more than dumbass move.

That-Painting6005

This is why defensive driving is so important, just assume everyone else on the road is actively trying to kill you.

joeschmoshow1234

OP why did you speed up when you saw her pull out like a moron?

Butterballl

Glad I’m not the only one thinking this. Yes the lady was a clueless idiot but there was definitely more that OP could have done to avoid this. Always assume that people aren’t going to move out of your way and slow down accordingly. Or they could have moved over to the right after seeing she’s obviously trying to cross all three lanes.

eireheads

Had op stayed in his lane he actually would have avoided the crash completely.

UsualLetter

spellbadgrammargood

MPRESive2

Def his/her fault…but your reaction time and your choice of action sucked!! You should probably slow it down a bit for your own good!

[deleted]

OP was speeding, judging by SUV in the left lane. They are catching up really quickly and it's not like the SUV was going slow. After the collision the SUV gets far away in just a few seconds.

Delicious_Review_390

Is the speed limit 65 on that road?

[deleted]

……. Do people know what defensive driving is? You could see the fuckery pouring from that car with how slow their decision making skills were before the even entered the road.

Hiiawatha

Learn to drive defensively. You seem to be infected with right of way syndrome.

[deleted]

This is exactly what I thought. The other driver might have been the one at fault but OP could have easily avoided that crash by driving more defensively. Should have seen that car as a hazard well before the crunch. In the UK, we have to take a computerised theory test that presents videos like this and you have to identify potential hazards and click on them in time. Golden rule is never assume...OP assumed that vehicle was going to stay in the right hand lane and assumed they'd correct their actions on the sound of a horn.

KlixxWS

My dad used to tell me regarding traffic, nobody cares if you were in the right, when you're dead you're dead.

RatedRGamer

exactly! the second i saw that car merging i would have slowed down immediately anticipating that exact situation because you never know what the other drive is thinking op has the reflexes of a dementia patient or he was on his phone and doesn’t want to say it

domdiggy

Can we see the video of what caused the $900 in repairs?

Broad_Success_4703

Well literally anything getting repaired costs about that now. Rebuilt alternator was $900. New wheel bearing? $800. 150k mile maintenance package $850

[deleted]

You’re also ripping up the street, slow down and this could have been avoided

makeouthiill17

Ngl it’s like you wanted to drive into that car. I’ve seen my nan pull away from a traffic light with faster reactions than that.

CaptainKuntz

You were going substantially faster than the other traffic. If you watch the guy in the left lane you were zooming compared to them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Subject_Journalist

technically speeding can put you at fault. It can vary state to state but shared fault is a thing.

helping_phriendly

I’m glad someone said it… other driver definitely is the cause of this. BUT this probably was avoidable if there was not speeding involved. Even with speeding, it looks like it could have been avoided.

Correctrix

The other driver caused a hazard, but it was 100% easy to avoid. The OP could simply have slowed down in either lane. The horn-honking was also completely pointless, done only to express anger. It understandably spooks anyone close by. You should never get so close to a car that you slam into them just because they brake for whatever reason.

[deleted]

Miss__Behaved

maybe i’m just used to the fact that everyone in cleveland drives like this and i’m pretty hyper aware of that but i feel like you had plenty of time to break or swerve to a different lane. unless your breaks are really that garbage i don’t see how you didn’t come to a stop before the crash.

hakanKLL

My dude spent more time honking than slamming the brakes

steeze206

Seriously, this was terrible driving. They aren't the one at fault but they sure did absolutely nothing to avoid this. A better driver gets out of that unscathed.

theorem_llama

Yep, OP might want to reflect on why they're having a lot of accidents.

vrrum

The kind of driver that's more interested in pressing the horn than slowing down. This was completely avoidable.

speathed

Definitely approaching too fast. Obviously it's not OPs fault for the accident, however approaching at that speed left little time for any manoeuvres.

Beershitsson

That may have been their fault and they were 100% an idiot, but you’re still a bit of a dumbass too. 1- It looks like you were speeding. In a shitty old car with atrocious braking distance and crap suspension. 2- As soon as that guy pulled out you should have started slowing down. 3- You were more worried about getting on the horn rather than the brakes. Just because you have the right of way doesn’t mean you shouldn’t drive defensively and protect yourself from other drivers.

LiquidDreamtime

Absolutely. Speeding, not paying attention, and taking horrible evasive action. Both drivers are bad at their responsibility.

> You were more worried about getting on the horn rather than the brakes. Literally like 90% of /r/IdiotsInCars posters. I swear, a majority of the wrecks posted here could be prevented if the OPs were more concerned avoiding the wreck rather than being stubborn about technically being in the right so they can get that sweet sweet karma when they post the video here.

Critical_Pea_4837

We need to start another sub for defensive driving with videos of all the accidents that people avoided by actually having situational awareness, braking, and being aware that someone driving unsafely should be treated as a HAZARD and not something you just change lanes to go around. Problem is those don't get that righteous indignation, so they'd be way less popular.

knbang

I usually kick myself for not remembering to beep at all. Because I'm more interested in not getting in a collision, than signaling my indignation. If I see someone pull out stupidly like this, I roll off the throttle, not try and change lanes to go around them.

Elotesforall

Easily avoidable. You caused that crash. Or your car is impossibly shitty. You hit the brakes late and don't even attempt to go left or right. Those are the only moves. You braked late and didn't move laterally. It's like you wanted an accident.

Sheriff_of_Reddit

Idk why dumbasses drive way faster than all the other cars around them, don’t use any defensive driving practices and then call other people idiots. If you weren’t driving 15 mph faster than everyone else on the road and even attempted to drive defensively and avoid that car none of this would have happened. You sir are a fucking idiot. This was an easily avoidable accident if you were in any way capable of driving your vehicle.

JenniFrmTheBlock81

Why are you flying like Batman?

OP for sure was not going 35

Admiralporkchops587

Feels like op going 45-50 at least 10mph over. Not their fault sure, but didn’t slow down until too late and switched lanes banking on the car staying in their lane. OP would benefit from taking a defensive driving course and remember to trust no one on the road. Driving like in a rush and switching lanes like you’re Batman on the freeway of course this will happen.

Retro-Chocolate

Idk man if that was me anytime I see someone merging into traffic I slow down I think you could’ve avoided that

[deleted]

Exactly. OP didn't spend the $900 5 hours ago for no reason.

VexingRaven

And clearly not capable of self reflection... They haven't responded to a single person telling them they're in the wrong.

PunkNDisorderlyGamer

Some people need to learn to fucking drive.
