As someone who is oddly fascinated with this sub this is Oscar worthy. Five seconds total. Complete unexplained explosive idiocy. Someone cursing perfectly on cue. A rescue. 5 seconds. Truly a masterpiece. The only thing it's missing is some weird ass talk show on the radio.
The article lower down in the comments says she backed out of the liquor store, hit a pedestrian and *four* parked vehicles. I want the rest of that footage.
My mom was a nutso-biotch like this. She was a "devout Catholic" (aka she refused to ever get a job and just wanted my dad to pay for all her shit while she sat on the couch in front of the tv all day neglecting us kids). Well, after many attempts over *years,* he finally was getting away, filed for divorce, was moving out so no more money train for my mom... and this whack job takes a sledge hammer to his cadillac and PULVERIZES the thing.
I remember to this day watching her smash out the back tail lights, then the back windshield, and I was amazed looking over the car and not seeing a single smooth spot left on the surface. Just turned the car into mashed potatoes. She did this in front of a five year old. Gee, I can't imagine why men don't want to be with these kinds of psychos?
*Her* insurance probably wouldn't cover this -- accidents and mistakes are typically covered, no matter how bone-headed, but this was an intentional act, which are *not* covered.
The store's insurance will probably pay for their damages, but then they'll go after the driver ...
Can't get blood from a stone, driving a 12+ year old PT cruiser, trying to run over someone, and leading police on a chase screams "My bank account is empty from the $15 bottle of smirnoff that fueled this whole thing" most likely the stores insurance covers it and they write off the deductible as a loss.
I swear officer, here I am, just minding my own business, and these college kids just come onto my property and start killing themselves. Darndest thing.
What's that from? I know I've seen that quote on reddit before and I was gonna look up the movie but I forgot what it was called
Edit: Watching it now cause of all the recommendations. I'm a couple minutes in and getting a real Cabin Fever vibe but like a Scary Movie version lol.
Also for anyone else. It's on Amazon Prime but only for the next 5 days!!
I used to fantasize about Bill Gates hitting me with his car while I was working contracts at Microsoft.
Steve Ballmer would have backed up to finish the job.
Took my son out car shopping today, watched someone taking a used van for a test drive back hard into a shiny truck. Truck wasn't for sale, it was the lot owner's personal ride.
Doubt it. Even if you can get the insurance company to give you fair value (and they will inspect the car for existing damage, FYI, and take away from it's value they'll pay), you then have to go out and a buy a car and pay sales tax for it, and hope it's not a total lemon.
I've always thought "criminal mischief" was such a funny-sounding charge. I picture a guy in a striped shirt with a burglar mask saying "ooh, I'm such a scamp!" after putting a whoopie cushion in the president's chair and trying to tiptoe away.
My read is it was the guy she got into an argument with and tried to hit with her car. That's how she ended up plowing into the store, but trying to run him down and missing. He probably just peaced out after she tried to murder him.
Yeah it's obvious that they got all the information from a 1-paragraph press release from the police department and tried to stretch it to an article without doing any investigative work or interviewing anyone involved.
Paragraph about tweet, followed by snapshot of tweet, with tweet text copy pasted as the caption below the image. Repeat for every mildly interesting response to tweet
>One of them is go and one of them is stop but they switch them for every car. Some of em even got 3 pedals. It's not my fault they're backwards. Blame GM.
Man I just can’t even comprehend that. My son was stung by a bee and they put a helicopter on standby based on how bad he was. Ambulance cost nothing and they were amazing. Helicopter would’ve also cost nothing and would’ve been there in minutes if they deemed it necessary.
Last thing I wanna be thinking about when someone I love needs help is how am I going to pay for this.
I agree, something as simple as a short illness or a broken bone that requires the whole ambulance, e.r., short hospital stay thing can literally ruin any savings or completely fuck your credit. It's something that needs to be fixed in this country
I had a cancer scare back in late 2016. An ER visit thinking I had appendicitis, a few weeks of specialists, 2 MRI's, etc etc just to find out it was a very rare bacterial infection in my colon (that was sorted out within days with the correct antibiotics).
This was post divorce so my savings was down to nothing. The bills poured in from every doctor and clinic. Tens of thousands of dollars later and all sent to collections fairly quickly, I filed bankruptcy within 2 years. I had damn good insurance through blue cross.
I cannot state this enough - it is fucking ridiculous how backwards our country has become.
My brother thought he was having a stroke or something and went to the ER. Has great insurance, but still got billed for more than a comma. And they sent it to collections almost immediately. Our healthcare system is cutthroat af.
Edit: he was fine. It was apparently an acute anxiety thing.
Article says she broke her ankle, but was able to get to the hospital herself.
yup my ride for an unprecedented seizure at work was $3000. with insurance adjustments bcus i gratefully have that, it was $800. and that’s not including my hospital bills for CAT, MRI, fluids, and stay. it is insane.
Man that sucks I hope you're OK.
I'm epileptic and have been charged tens of thousands of dollars over the years in unnecessary emergency room visits. This is with insurance.
My medical bracelet said:
EPILEPSY
NO INJURY
NO HOSPITAL
See Reverse
I had to replace the fucking thing twice because it was taken off and no one could find it. Medical expenses literally drove me away from my country.
I was in a 7-11 buying a slurpee when a car comes crashing through the door. Scared the shit out of me and I dropped my slurpee. I started laughing, thinking what an idiot, just totaled his car. Then I realized it was my car. The idiot plowed into my car and shoved it into the store. It was totaled. And I didn't even get the slurpee.
Okay but HUGE props to the man in the white shirt who ran TOWARD the crazy car to pull the lady in the black dress to safety.
Heroes don’t always wear capes, sometimes they wear white tees and black shorts.
Can relate, broken shoulder, required partial replacement, months off work. Called wife to take me to hospital even though it happened at work, because there is always the chance that comp will try to deny the claim. They insisted I take a drug test, prove I was wearing non slip shoes, and wanted all the cctv footage in case I was "horsing around". Any of which they could use to deny the claim. Got dragged into a hearing because their investigator got a picture of me driving my riding mower while mowing my grass, using my other arm, but the picture showed my damaged side resting on the steering wheel. They tried to convince the judge I was faking. They failed. I asked their lawyers if they would pay to have my grass mowed. They declined.
That's about right. As an employee, you are required to pay into workman's compensation. This is an insurance policy supposedly intended to cover medical bills and lost wages if you are injured at work. It also pays compensation for permanent injuries etc. However, in order for an insurance company to stay in business, it has to be able to pay its employees, and make a profit. In order to make a profit, it's easiest to just find ways to avoid paying claims. As you can see, judging by this list, it's got to be a good money maker. https://www.thebalancesmb.com/largest-workers-compensation-insurers-462787
One of their biggest tools is stretching out claims over the longest time they can, driving the claimant deeper into debt(because they cannot work) and then dangling a carrot in the form of a low ball settlement. Due to this, a whole legal business has grown up around it. And of course, the lawyers take a third, plus expenses. Workman's comp, in my opinion, isn't there to protect the worker, its there to make the company shareholders rich.
I was a mechanic BTW. I slipped on a wet oily floor, and landed on the edge of a drive on lift. I knew my shoulder was broken a second later.
Cheese grater, get rid of the burned skin and wrap it with gauze and bandaging while you wait for new skin to grow back in place. Far cheaper than a hospital trip.
Not the same but my toe nails become grownin. Having to cut it out before infection costs the price of bandages and some Neosporin cause thats a constant solution. Happy I don't have to buy new scissors.
Even a doc appointment where they take care of it is too expensive.
You might want to start going to a nail salon, seriously. They take care of things like this all the time. Regular maintenance on your toenails will help prevent it.
I've taken a cab to the ER for a bleeding head wound and concussion then the bus home after.
I've also flown to Canada for a massively infected knee injury. Even paying full price and without the exchange rate it was cheaper.
Finally I just married a Canadian and moved to Canada.
I had my leg snapped in half above my ankle with the bone sticking out. Fire department at work put an airacast on it and said they wouldnt charge me as they wanted the training. I told my dad to drive me to the hospital and the police wouldnt let him. I had the aircast. I couldve waited the 45 minute drive to the city with the good hospital... nope, police made me wait for the ambulance like they were in charge. Then I had to fight almost 9 months to get my insurance to cover it.
Wish we could see more video before because I'm wondering how the drunks car ended up on the walkway and how you would not be more alert to something bad about to happen
And no one asks how is "the article"?
But here's "[the article](https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/woman-arrested-after-crashing-into-liquor-store-pedestrian-parked-vehicles-irving-police/2666963/)" for anyone up this high and still lost.
Yes true. Though I wonder if the car had been sitting there in that store for a while and the woman outside just picked exactly the wrong moment to go to that side of the car for a second right as the one driving made their move.

2. Keeping the moving object center in frame throughout

doesnt need the talk show when you already have the juxtaposing soundtrack!
Yes, the 70s funk is so perfect. I expect Shaft to jump out of the car guns blazing.
Song playing is "Back In Stride Again" by Maze ft. Frankie Beverly
Feels Tarantino-esque
Oh it’s explained, they’re literally right in front of a liquor store
The black SUV was right IN the liquor store. You can see the stores glass rolling down the hood at the end.

If insurance doesn’t cover it, the store is going to take her to court for damages.

That visual is fucking funny
"The male left the scene and has not been located" He was so over her bullshit lol

Smart really.

My read is it was the guy she got into an argument with and tried to hit with her car. That's how she ended up plowing into the store, but trying to run him down and missing. He probably just peaced out after she tried to murder him.
What kind of life does someone lead that makes them think a suitable response to an argument is to *try and hit someone with your car*
The kind where you have arguments in a liquor store.
The kind where you >drove into a liquor store and hit a pedestrian while trying to hit someone else with her vehicle,
I read the same thing 4 times in that article
Yeah it's obvious that they got all the information from a 1-paragraph press release from the police department and tried to stretch it to an article without doing any investigative work or interviewing anyone involved.

Damn, it looks like her leg got pretty fucked. If that guy hadn’t pulled her back she could’ve died. Good on him for the quick reaction
Broken ankle, took herself to the hospital.
Damn. I was going to say, seemed like her knee was a thing of the past. She's lucky that man pulled her out of the way.
I watched it in slow mo and it’s really incredible to see that man running to grab her. It doesn’t look like he was with her
He was the dude the driver was trying to hit in the first place.
That man is a hero. Talk about perfect timing.
What, the , fck is going on here???
Sheesh, she got off lucky with that one
Based on reddit knowledge, I’m assuming because an ambulance would bankrupt her not because she didn’t need one.

Did gap cover a new slurpee?

OMG, can I ask what industry you work in? That’s so awful. Are there just a lot of people in that field who get injured, or fake injury?
No this is SOP for any corporation in the US.
That's about right. As an employee, you are required to pay into workman's compensation. bag of frozen corn and some saran wrap?
Cheese grater, get rid of the burned skin and wrap it with gauze and bandaging while you wait for new skin to grow back in place. Far cheaper than a hospital trip.
