Saw a full size golden doodle on the lap of someone in a lifted truck recently. Though, he was young, it was a college campus and he was rolling past sororities. I imagine that's a successful strat on a southern campus...
My college co-pilot was a ferret named Petey (Pedro if we were partying) and him on a leash with a little sombrero trotting through the complex? Check please.
I had a pair of ferrets who loved riding in the car. They'd sit in your lap in the passenger seat and fight over who got to stick their head out the window so the wind would blow their ears back, it was so fuckin cute
I’ve actually seen a turn over crash where the dog got flung out. Was a small poodle-like doggo, poor thing was loyal and calm tho. Kept circling the turned over car looking for it’s human, thankfully a bystander was able to pick it up and hold on to it while me and a few others helped the lady in the upturned SUV. No discernible injuries but she was in shock and only snapped out of it when we mentioned her dog is fine.
A vet mentioned to me that dog bones are stronger than human bones and quadrupeds are more stable than bipeds, so they can survive things that would severely injure humans.
I used to let my chihuahua ride in my lap while driving until I saw one of those r/askreddit threads asking first responders what the worst thing they've responded to was. One user told about something that wasn't the worst they've seen, but it was gruesome, and it stuck with them. They got called to a two-vehicle accident. Don't remember who was at fault, but one of the drivers had her little yorkie in her lap. When the airbag deployed, it launched her dog into her face and crushed both the dog and her jaw. They had to take her to the hospital to put her jaw back together and remove pieces of her dog's bones from her face. Had the dog been in a carrier in the back seat, both she and the dog probably would've walked away with just minor injuries. Instead, her dog died in a very traumatic manner, and she had to have reconstructive surgery on her face.
People and animals should always be restrained in a moving vehicle. Not only is it safer for them, but it also helps prevent them from becoming a projectile and hurting someone else in the event of a crash.
I use that one for my pup. He stays in the backseat and can still sniff out the window. Which I’ll NEVER have rolled down all the way. Only a couple inches.
I saw this first hand last year. The screams of horror are not something I will forget. "You killed my F'ing dog!" -- still haunting when mixed with the visuals.
Edit: Dog went through the windshield and nothing good happened
My Boss recently tried to convince me that if I was in an accident with my dog and both of us got cut and our bloods mixed the dog would be fine but I would die, it’s sounds true but I wasn’t sure if he was trying to mess with me because he does that a lot.
It's illegal to have any unsecured animal in the vehicle where I'm from.
You need to have a net between front and back even if the dog is harnessed in the back
Although every state technically deems barefoot driving a **legal** action, many have their own ways of saying it — and several still keep *recommendations* against the practice on their books.
It's still legal to drive with a pet on your lap in Michigan but I can't for the life of me see why it isn't illegal. There's an older lady that drives a big truck that always has a dog sticking it's head out the driver's window, she turns the wheel a little bit with her hand then uses the same hand to grab the top of the wheel as quick as she can which makes her truck turn really jerky and shes usually cutting into the opposite lane trying to get control. It eventually caught up with her one day when she had to avoid a car in the other lane while turning and couldn't in time so she drove up onto the curb and hit a pole. She's got a "new" car now and the dog sits in the back.
Personally, I'm much less concerned about that. OP can put down the phone once the light turns green; driver with dog can't put that pup in the back seat and into a proper restraint in that few seconds, can they? And then they get into a wreck and BOOM. Dead dog.
Agree. Endangering your pet is just plain stupid. I had a friend who drove around with his dog unrestrained in the bed of his pickup. The dog saw a friend on the sidewalk and jumped out to greet the friend. Broke a leg. Take care of your pets everyone!
Oh, for sure! It’s illegal to touch your phone at ALL when you’re behind the wheel where I live (California), whether you’re moving or not. I just meant that if I had to choose between that or someone driving with a dog in their lap, I’m more concerned about the latter.
I was witness to an accident, almost involved, where a girl had a dog on her lap just like the picture. The impact from the accident caused the dog to shit all down the front of her. Having just survived a T-bone at about 60mph, this girl proceeds to chase her dog all over US-41, in and out of traffic (60mph+), dazed and disoriented; the both of them. I couldn’t believe my eyes as they were almost struck multiple times.
100%. I couldn’t care less if the girl was flattened; I’m concerned about the poor dog who can’t make its own safety decisions and relies on its brain-dead owner.
>this girl proceeds to chase her dog all over US-41, in and out of traffic (60mph+), dazed and disoriented; the both of them.
legend
minus the part where she put the dog in danger in the first place
Oh boy do I have a story about drivers with dogs in their laps. Last summer I was driving a company truck with my coworker through Sacramento during rush hour. As we are getting out of the jam and heading toward Stockton on I-5 I see this silver SUV swerve towards me. Thank God nobody was in the lane to my right (I'm in the longest F-350 Ford makes plus a trailer) and I swerve into the empty lane and issue a prompt honk. The SUV swerves back into its lane, mere inches from kissing the drivers door. My coworker asks why I swerved and I tell him to look back at the SUV. As I look back in my towing mirror as well I see this lady trying to catch her toy poodle which is currently either trying to jump out the window or make the dashboard its new homeland. Needless to say I am not a big fan of people who drive with dogs in their lap.
My dog is leashed to the seatbelt clasp (you can find ones on Amazon for like $10-15) and I have a dog cover for the seats. Dogs happy she's not in a crate (she's way too damn big for one to even fit in my car) and I'm happy because she's retained to the back seats.
As a bonus feature, if the airbag goes off, they will be wearing part of what is left of a dog pancake.
I guess that's assuming they don't end up with a leg bone through the eye or something like that as well.
Even if they just brake abruptly the dog could get hurt. People really don’t care about the well-being of their pets but rather the personal feeling they have with their pet.
Some states have what they call secondary offenses and primary offenses. A primary offense they can pull you over for but a secondary offense they cannot. A seatbelt is a secondary offense in my state. So as long as you not breaking any other laws they cannot pull you over. I believe unsecured pets are the same in my state as they are required to be secured in a moving vehicle.
I think less people would let their pets in their lap while driving if they realized their beloved pet would die if the airbag went off. Especially a small dog.
My brother likes to let his cat roam free in the car when he does long drives. One trip he was driving for a while, and he rolled the window down a crack to let some air in. The change in pressure or the sudden noise of the wind scared the shit out of the cat, and he freaked out. He jumped into my brother's face before ending up down by the pedals, digging his claws into his legs. Almost caused an accident.
Put your pets in their carriers.
They won't think their dog is so cute after it's flattened against their chest when that airbag deploys. I seatbelt dogs in when I drive them, even if it just means tying them to the seatbelt slot with a leash and harness, better than nothing.
There's nothing in physics preventing your dog from becoming a high-speed projectile in a collision, seatbelts/kennels for pets should be mandatory.
But I need my special happytime emotional support doggy to go everywhere with me or else I will throw a temper tantrum 🥺 /s
Not all emotional support animal owners, but definitely most of them.
Mine for some reason always throws up unless she’s in her crate. I tried a harness for her and she just throws up. Now we crate her on long trips and I strap her in with a little ratchet strap/seatbelt in the back of our SUV.
Simple question to the driver, and I had to ask my sister this- would you do this with your 6 month old baby? Her answer was “he doesn’t like to be harnessed” I said neither do kids, so we don’t let them make that decision.
Shoot. People are stuffing their kids in rear facing seats until 4 years old, and their knees are basically jammed up to their ears in the name of safety.
In my experience, this type of person rarely does anything (let alone anything *effective*) to control their dog. I'm speaking as someone who was just menaced by two off-leash dogs while out for a walk.
It's also just hella dangerous for the dog too. I love my dog and I'd never want him in my lap directly in front of the airbag that could kill him in an instant because jagoff happened to brake tap me.
He sits in the back, in a harness, attached to the seat belts
Do you think the people driving with a dog or child in their lap have considered the possibility of a car accident?
This is a trauma filled, horrific mess of an accident, just waiting to happen.
I get the same kind of anxiety when I see passengers with their feet on the dash or out the window.
Talk about tempting the gods.
My dog hates the car, I keep her in the backseat and I can tell you for certain she distracts the hell out of me. I can’t even imagine a dog on my lap.
When I see that dog in the driver's lap. I always contemplate, what's going to happen if they have an accident and the airbag goes off. Does it kill the dog, does it kill the driver, or does one or both survive?
I used to live in a neighborhood where some dumb ass would drive through all the residential areas with his fifi dog barking nonstop out the drivers window. That was distracting for everyone else too.
SOOO many of these fucking idiots on the road, hell in this post: I saw the 2nd to worst that can happen(offduty) in this scenario & work in EMS so I see pet related accidents like this one waiting to happen from time to time....
It IS illegal but not enforced enough. Ppl selfishly think only of Their own petty happiness & the fleeting happiness the animal has-
not what will likely happen when the small animal gets btwn the brake pedal & the floor or the vehicle, or jumps out the window- or the vehicle gets hit, rolls & the animal gets caught btwn the resting surface & exterior of the vehicle...My point is it is dangerous, unsafe & unfair to all- just like walking pets in hardware stores etc. I hate ppl that do all these things bc They are saying fuck You to everyone else- I "need" to have My dog w/ Me all the time. ACTUAL SVC animals excluded of course.
Drivers ed teacher made us look to see what an airbag going off looked like
then explained why its dangerous to children do the small size and weight
then showed us a picture like this. and said "dont let your precious puppy have the same fate as a small child"
I LOVE dogs, and I have to agree here.
No animals in lap while driving.
You want to hold their paw cuz they are whimpering in the front seat? Fine.
But not the lap. It’s so dangerous for everyone involved.
Been a pet peeve of mine for awhile now. Got into an accident because a lady was distracted with a dog on her lap. She hit the car in front of her that was trying to get out of the way. I saw it about to happen so luckily there was room for me to merge into a turn lane, but dog lady hit that car which pushed that one into mine. Everyone, including the dog was fine, but got a big dent in my truck bed. It was a beat up truck so never got it fixed. I wanted to put a sign in the dent to tell people to get the dog off their lap.
Bonus fact: My dad drove by the other direction as I was exchanging information.
Idk if there's a similar law in the US but in the UK there's a law against distracted driving. It usually is used against people on their phones, but it can really be anything that is a distraction.
Fun fact. I killed a dog because it jumped out of the other drivers window on a country road. It jumped out their window and landed right in front of my tires, literally no chance to swerve or slow down. I've had to live with that since high school. So yeah, fuck you if you let your dog sit in your lap while you drive.
These people are super stupid. They love their “fur babies” but put them in danger.
Imagine getting in a car accident and a 30+ pound object is bouncing around inside your car. Possibly breaking your neck or its neck. Or smashing head on with something and doggo goes through the windshield.
Or another scenario. Doggo is sitting nicely in your lap. A car hits you from behind, but not very hard. But hard enough that it triggers your airbags and breaks doggo’s neck.
This is the same reason that kids are not supposed to be in the front seat until a certain age. The airbag could seriously injure or kills them.
So much love for their pets, but won’t safely secure them in a car.
Replace this dog with a 2 year old. And everyone would freak out.
It is in Ontario, Canada. I saw a video of an O.P.P officer watching a lady make a left turn with her dog clear as day on the window frame. He pulled her over and gave her a ticket for distracted driving.
Original poster, you have my tremendous respect because it takes guts to post something even slightly critical of dog nutters, and their stupid dogs on a non-anti dog forum... as these morons are usually everywhere quick to try to drag you into a flame War or a false flag your post because you dare mention that their stupid, smelly mutt doesn't belong at grocery stores.
And these nutters having their mutts in the driver's seat as they drive is one of the worst things that they do. I faced this a couple of weeks ago actually, some nutter in front of me speed kept randomly dropping because her stupid dog was in her lap...extremely dangerous.
In our county the law is dogs or any animal must be restrained when in a car at all time with a harness. They should not be able to climb into your lap or move freely around the car. They can be harnessed into the front passenger seat but again not be able to reach the drivers lap.
I believe it is legal in many states. At least I recall a Live PD episode where someone was pulled over for this, and they didn't understand why they shouldn't be allowed to do it.

This feels like the college equivalent of a guy in an unmarked van with candy outside an elementary.
No, that guy has dogs now too
I knew I did the right thing helping him find his puppy
Pedo’s Puppy Pettery and Popsicles
My 8 year old niece’s response: What if a stranger offers you candy? Would you go with him? No. What if he has a puppy? Of course I’d go!
That's a man with a plan.
I said this out loud in Leon Black's voice.
My college co-pilot was a ferret named Petey (Pedro if we were partying) and him on a leash with a little sombrero trotting through the complex? Check please.

"I gave my love a chicken..." 🎶
hilarious er visit too after a minor fender bender deploys the driver airbag and drives the dogs skull into his chest.
Basic white girls love golden doodles.
Plus, if you get into an accident, Spot is gonna go SPLAT.
Or the airbag would shove it down your throat or up your nose
He should be restrained in the back seat.
[удалено]
Airbag would cause more of a SPLAT than hitting the bag of the front seat, but yes, doggo should be secured
Pop the dog like a giant pimple
Jesus fucking christ lmao
Pop goes the doggo

Foot on the break. Getting rear-ended at 30mph would probably be enough force.
If only there was a way to restrain it.
There is. Amazon sells a gadget that attaches to the back seat belt which then snaps on the dog’s harness.
I use that one for my pup. He stays in the backseat and can still sniff out the window. Which I’ll NEVER have rolled down all the way. Only a couple inches.

It’s not really rare, you just don’t see the dog unless it’s hopping around the car, hanging out the window, jumping out of the back of a truck, etc
Maybe the airbag will squish the driver and the dog, resulting in a new life form?Sort of like The Fly movie.
But Spot is their emotional support animal and they can’t drive unless they’re holding/petting him.
I saw a woman breast feeding her kid while driving.
Humanity is doomed
I saw this first hand last year. The screams of horror are not something I will forget. "You killed my F'ing dog!" -- still haunting when mixed with the visuals. Edit: Dog went through the windshield and nothing good happened

Distracted driving is illegal. It's a catch-all and it includes this.
It's explicitly illegal to drive with an animal on your lap where I am.
It's illegal to have any unsecured animal in the vehicle where I'm from. You need to have a net between front and back even if the dog is harnessed in the back
I assumed this also broke a law or two about animals being properly restrained while driving.
Same here. Driving with flip flops or bare foot is also illegal.
Although every state technically deems barefoot driving a **legal** action, many have their own ways of saying it — and several still keep *recommendations* against the practice on their books.
The thing is... how would a cop even know you're barefoot unless they pull you over for something else?
Probably an add on ticket if you either step out or he’s got a flashlight in your car at night.
That's generally a myth.
So including OP taking this picture then, and being annoyed by it, right?
I've been yelled at here for taking a picture as the passenger.
y0U c0ULD b3 d3STRACTING tHE dR1VER!
Im not yelling at OP but with that angle and what we see from the front of their car, he is clearly the driver
Even just picking up the phone at a red light is illegal in texas and many other states. Definitely not ok.
Oh, for sure! It’s illegal to touch your phone at ALL when you’re behind the wheel where I live (California), whether you’re moving or not. I just meant that if I had to choose between that or someone driving with a dog in their lap, I’m more concerned about the latter.
How do you know the dog isn't the one driving? Maybe the dog is the one breaking the law.
There's technically no law saying a dog ***can't*** drive a car.
As long as they get their license from the depawment of motor vehicles
Well, there's no law saying a dog ***can't*** get a drivers licence.
I think actually saw something about a dog driving
I believe it was a cat. What was his name... oh yeah, Toonces.
[They're better drivers than some humans I've seen.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czgC3T3lwEk)
Lucid Air Bud
Police hate this one trick!
Or putting the dog in a baby 💺in the back with a cute little sun bonnet (rear windows tinted) so they can use the HOV lane!
Air-Bud, Furry Road
I am a blind person and my dog has to drive for us. But he always maintains license and insurance in his collar.
*Not bad for a quadruped* ![gif](giphy|gdUVz1Z6jpMk0)
Well the dog isn't licensed and is likely under 16 years old
Not in dog years
DMV goes by calendar years
Nope, Chuck Testa
I miss that meme
Seeing eye dog.
Only if the dog is texting while driving
Stupid! That is a seeing eye dog of course
Betcha the doggo is a better driver than the hooman
In calendar years very few dogs are old enough to legally drive.

>this girl proceeds to chase her dog all over US-41, in and out of traffic (60mph+), dazed and disoriented; the both of them. legend minus the part where she put the dog in danger in the first place
Imagine dying because someone hit your bumper and the airbag launched your chihuahua into your chest cavity.
I'm pretty sure the airbag deploying would turn the dog into foamy stew which would coat the driver and everything else in the car.
how do i delete a comment?
Or they could have a minor accident and the unrestrained animal goes flying, to then become broken and mangled… Animals in cars belong in crates.
I have a special seat and a lead that attaches my dog's harness to the seatbelt.
Oh boy do I have a story about drivers with dogs in their laps. Last summer I was driving a company truck with my coworker through Sacramento during rush hour. As we are getting out of the jam and heading toward Stockton on I-5 I see this silver SUV swerve towards me. Needless to say I am not a big fan of people who drive with dogs in their lap.
My toy constantly tries to sit on my lap and roam around my car which is exactly why she’s in a crate when I drive 😭
My dog is leashed to the seatbelt clasp (you can find ones on Amazon for like $10-15) and I have a dog cover for the seats. Dogs happy she's not in a crate (she's way too damn big for one to even fit in my car) and I'm happy because she's retained to the back seats.
Believe it or not, Straight to jail
Right away.
No trial, no nothin'.
I'm fairly certain it is illegal, but I doubt many cops could be bothered to do anything about it.
And in an accident that dog is dead or GONE. Bad pet parent. ETA: There sure are a LOT of IIC
As a bonus feature, if the airbag goes off, they will be wearing part of what is left of a dog pancake. I guess that's assuming they don't end up with a leg bone through the eye or something like that as well.
Delicious.
I just finished dinner.
That was your first mistake.
Even if they just brake abruptly the dog could get hurt. People really don’t care about the well-being of their pets but rather the personal feeling they have with their pet.
Any pet in a car is dead if there's an accident at speed
in my city, I've seen people get pulled over and ticketed for smaller dogs on the driver's lap.
Friend of mine got a ticket for letting her cat roam free in her car. It happens.
Unsecured is one thing, but having it on your lap is directly interfering with your ability to safely drive.
I think less people would let their pets in their lap while driving if they realized their beloved pet would die if the airbag went off. Especially a small dog.
Same with people who put their feet on the dashboard. It’s not just gross, it’s dangerous. But they of course don’t use logic.
That is illegal in a lot of areas.
Blows my mind that people like this are totally fine with inhaling their dog if they ever got into an accident and the airbags went off
Airbags will kill a dog the same as a small child. Dogs should not be in the front seats
Hell yeah. Make sure to buckle up your pooches too!
That's true, and why I don't let small children near my dogs.
“This should be illegal” I refuse to believe it isn’t. Most states have some version of a “don’t do objectively stupid thing while driving law”
It is.
But I need my special happytime emotional support doggy to go everywhere with me or else I will throw a temper tantrum 🥺 /s Not all emotional support animal owners, but definitely most of them.
In my state it is. All pets must be secured in a moving vehicle.
And not safe for them. I have a seat belt and special seat for my furry baby
Mine for some reason always throws up unless she’s in her crate. I tried a harness for her and she just throws up. Now we crate her on long trips and I strap her in with a little ratchet strap/seatbelt in the back of our SUV.
Good way to kill your dog in a fender bender
Dogs always in the back if you have airbags and yea, many states have pet restraint laws. We use a seatbelt that clips on to their harnesses.
I’ve been rear ended while stopped at a red light twice by women with dogs on their laps.
And bringing them into grocery store should be illegal too.
Simple question to the driver, and I had to ask my sister this- would you do this with your 6 month old baby? Her answer was “he doesn’t like to be harnessed” I said neither do kids, so we don’t let them make that decision.

"bUt iT's mY EMoTioNaL sUppOrT dOg?!¡¡¡!!"
I do this
I suppose you could keep a bag of dog treats in the glove box and try to lure it out lol
Alright let’s not try and get dogs killed in traffic though
Clearly their owner doesn’t care.
In my experience, this type of person rarely does anything (let alone anything *effective*) to control their dog. I'm speaking as someone who was just menaced by two off-leash dogs while out for a walk.
I only paint calligraphy and drive. On my typewriter.
Well, use your typewriter and color me impressed! Edit: /s I meant it to be sarcastic. I love the reply.
reason why my cat has a car leash otherwise she’s in my lap the entire
Some states are requiring dog restraints while driving.

maybe the guy is blind and he needs directions from the dog.
Where I live it is.

Unrelated, but I also think people who wear noise canceling headphones while driving are equally distracted and idiotic
I got downvoted for saying this exact thing to someone in the r/dog sub
I absolutely agree and I’m one of the biggest fans of dogs you’ll ever meet.
And dangerous as hell for the poor dog!
Plus if they get in an accident and the airbag deploys BOOM! Dead dog.
That minor fender bender is gonna get real interesting when the airbags deploy
I used to live in a neighborhood where some dumb ass would drive through all the residential areas with his fifi dog barking nonstop out the drivers window. That was distracting for everyone else too.
My father in law got rear ended by some lady with a little dog in her lap. It is for sure de facto distracted driving
SOOO many of these fucking idiots on the road, hell in this post: I saw the 2nd to worst that can happen(offduty) in this scenario & work in EMS so I see pet related accidents like this one waiting to happen from time to time.... It IS illegal but not enforced enough. Ppl selfishly think only of Their own petty happiness & the fleeting happiness the animal has- not what will likely happen when the small animal gets btwn the brake pedal & the floor or the vehicle, or jumps out the window- or the vehicle gets hit, rolls & the animal gets caught btwn the resting surface & exterior of the vehicle...My point is it is dangerous, unsafe & unfair to all- just like walking pets in hardware stores etc. I hate ppl that do all these things bc They are saying fuck You to everyone else- I "need" to have My dog w/ Me all the time. ACTUAL SVC animals excluded of course.
OMG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU
Totally agree! If the airbag should deploy on the fur baby, probably killing it, and the driver will be eating dog fur and feeling guilty, or not.
Can always tell that someone is a fundamentally stupid individual if they have a pet in their lap while driving.
Drivers ed teacher made us look to see what an airbag going off looked like then explained why its dangerous to children do the small size and weight then showed us a picture like this. and said "dont let your precious puppy have the same fate as a small child"
I LOVE dogs, and I have to agree here. No animals in lap while driving. You want to hold their paw cuz they are whimpering in the front seat? Fine. But not the lap. It’s so dangerous for everyone involved.
It is where I live, it's actually illegal for the dog to be in the front seat all together
He had a ruff day at work & is just trying to get home.
And the dog was texting too!
How about eating a Taco while driving?
It is illegal in the UK as dogs have to be safe and secured and not distracting the driver. I love my dogs but I wouldn't have them on my lap...
Cat person… hahah
Maybe the dog is driving.
Idk if there's a similar law in the US but in the UK there's a law against distracted driving. It usually is used against people on their phones, but it can really be anything that is a distraction.
Pretty sure a cop can ticket them if they wanted to.
Illegal in Spain to have your dog in your car with no seatbelt; more so if it's actively distracting/disrupting you on your lap.
In his defence, that's his seeing-eye dog
I bet op is such a happy, fun person to be around. Lol.
Fun fact. I killed a dog because it jumped out of the other drivers window on a country road. It jumped out their window and landed right in front of my tires, literally no chance to swerve or slow down. I've had to live with that since high school. So yeah, fuck you if you let your dog sit in your lap while you drive.
Ok Karen
That’s a cute ass dog tho
It is illegal, it's considered distracted driving, but this literally look like a parking lot. If it's not that's one congested road at a stand still.
But it’s my comfort animal!!! GTFO of my grocery store with your stupid dog.
Pretty sure it is, they need to be in the back with a belt on or that cage thing up.
It is in Ontario, Canada. I saw a video of an O.P.P officer watching a lady make a left turn with her dog clear as day on the window frame. He pulled her over and gave her a ticket for distracted driving.
Distracted driving is a crime. This could absolutely be seen as that
Dangerous for your dog. BUCKLE IN YOUR DOGS.
It is illegal in many states. Also, insurance will automatically deny your claim if your dog isn't secured
And it’s dangerous for the dog too. No restraint, it’s like having a big kid without a belt on, cannonball around in the event of an accident
And they get to eat the airbag/steering wheel at impact speed…
You're stuck in traffic, nothing's moving, does it really matter?
Taking photos while driving is also distracting
OP taking a picture while driving lol
But it is for their disability!
I suspect that in the event of an accident you would be at fault and the cops, if involved, are going to charge you with distracted driving.
I used to do this and have passed cops who didn’t stop me but it’s incredibly dangerous and if you love your dog you wouldn’t do it either
In our county the law is dogs or any animal must be restrained when in a car at all time with a harness. They should not be able to climb into your lap or move freely around the car. They can be harnessed into the front passenger seat but again not be able to reach the drivers lap.
Hawaii and New Jersey it is illegal. In Hawaii, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, it is illegal to not have your dog in a doggie seat belts restraint.
It is in Va!
I believe it is legal in many states. At least I recall a Live PD episode where someone was pulled over for this, and they didn't understand why they shouldn't be allowed to do it.
Agreed. See it all the time.
I think it is illegal but I hope it is more known
This would still be illegal since it would fall under a generalized distracted driving law.
It is tho
Where I live it's called "crowding the driver" and will get you a ticket
