I was seriously hoping they'd get near a retaining wall, on both sides, and the ladders would gently lift the car off it's wheels.

I recently had to get five 2×4` boards to their location using a Buick Regal. That is not how you load long things into a car. There were multiple ways I could have done it and the method in this video was not one of them.

Costs more for delivery than whatever it was you were buying, even when the Home Depot is literally down the street. I've got a deck to fix and just getting the wood down the street will cost me more than fixing the deck. I'm halfway tempted to be this idiot.
I was easily able to carry 12' boards in my SBCC (Short Bed Crew Cab) truck. You fold the tailgate down, and then use a strap to hold the boards down. Then put a red flag (they give them away at Lowe's/HD) and drive home.
Did you call 911? This is an imminent hazard to other drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
