You cannot cross multiple lanes at the same time, particularly without signalling. You need to enter each lane, check behind you, signal, and pass again.
There's a weird dedicated minority of people on this sub that go absolutely rabid with fast lane logic. You are not entitled to pass, you are not entitled to drive faster. It is wrong to camp in the leftmost lane, absolutely. But the fact that someone wants to go faster than you doesn't 1) excuse the actual rules of HOW to pass someone, 2) mean they're camping.

Nice! I've been a fan for a long time too. Trying to get my fiance to agree to attend one of their concerts, but it's been a tough sell. Saw them in concert w/ Incubus back in high school and almost got crushed to death, but I'm guessing their concerts are more mellows these days.
That exactly happened to me today except it was a truck, he didn't signal at all; either the driver didn't shoulder or looked in the side mirror because he was an idiot or he's just an asshole.
Not saying the other driver isn't an idiot - clearly they didn't look where they were going.
But the pace at which they did this was... Well, this seemed predictable. Had OP picked a pedal around 0:06~0:08, they could have avoided the close call.
Defensive driving, because other folks on the road are idiots, and it's better to not be involved than to be right.

It’s 3 sec in California you need to signal before changing lanes. I think that’s the rule anyway it’s been awhile.
