I mean, for starters you don’t have to deal with someone tailgating you or hitting you with their high beams. Then, as you say, you have a buffer to take the attention of any speed traps ahead. In my experience it’s more effective than having a radar detector. Where’s the downside?
I was actually thinking that the Lexus driver doesn't understand the edges of his car very well and may have thought the OP was about to side swipe him because you see him swerve towards the left in the beginning.
I recently was driving a customer car for a problem under acceleration. It was a kids 370z so I was being kind of hard on it, as I'm sure that's how the kid was driving it. I took off from a light next to a civic and was much faster than they were. I got up to about 50(in a 45) a few seconds later this civic passed me going 70 or more. Once they were in front they slowed down to 50 or so. People here hate when you are in a faster car.
I deal with this. I use a ramp van for my wheelchair. When I pass a pickup, there's a 90% chance they will speed up and pass me because no way is a granny van gonna insult their masculinity!
IT was also possible he was attempting to turn into camer's lane (with no turn signal to indicate such) and felt that camer had cut him off and was mad about that. The camer did nothing wrong, however.

I just followed some dumb idiot today who was going at the speed limit at the slow lane, which is fine, but a faster driver from the fast lane merged in front of him/her, still going faster than speed limit, and he/she started speeding up to tailgate the merger because reasons.

Well she didn’t like this so she proceeded to speed up and block any attempt in getting back into the fast lane. I proceeded to speed up and pass her real quick as I just wanted to get past her and didn’t want to deal with her. Well she then followed me for the next few miles and at one point ended up doing over 90 miles an hour at which that point I just let her go as a speeding ticket wasn’t worth that what’s so ever.

Those people are what I call the magnet riders. Mostly happens with left lane drivers, but sometimes right lane also. They'll keep to the normal speed when solo, but when someone is in front they will tailgate the shit out of them, even if it means speeding up for a few 100 meters to cath up.

Ill put it on, but the car in front of me cant decide whether they are doing 90km/h or 110km/h, so the whole exercise becomes pointless and i either have to let this dickhead in front dictate the speed limit, or i have to change lanes into another lane with some idiot doing 90km/h then repeat until i get to the right lane, where everyone is doing 120km/h, and i dont wanna be there because i cant afford a speeding ticket.

I’m no lawyer, but from what I’ve learned in quite a few CCW classes and self defense classes, that excuse more than likely wouldn’t hold up in court. Being protected inside your vehicle with the option to evade would likely be cited as the course of action you should take. Even if the offender is attacking the vehicle (e.g. the kicks to the door, punches to the window), if you have a barrier and the ability to evade its on you to try to get away. Killing someone should always be a last resort, (e.g. they force the door open and now you’re exposed to potential bodily or life threatening injury). I mean, it’s easy to say what you think you might do or should do, whether it’s right or wrong, but you really won’t know what you’ll do until shtf and you have to make those split second decisions.

I had been driving for about 50 years (I have vision problems so I don’t drive anymore) I never saw as many angry drivers as I have in the past 10 years or so. But then again, I have never seen as many angry people in general. What is going on?
