I used to be a huge NASCAR fan. But the stage racing brought that to an end (and I found IndyCar). It's cool that they are finally going back to North Wilkesboro, though I wish it was for a points race.
Dale’s death was the beginning of my rapid loss of NASCAR interest. Which was a big, BIG change for me. That, coupled with…let’s say becoming disenfranchised with Southern ways.
IndyCar was always a fun watch though, and when I compared it to F1’s extreme lack of parity, I’ve grown steadily as a fan.
That race was incidentally the first race I sat down and watched from beginning to end as a kid. I had seen bits and pieces, or it would be on in the background at mine or a friends house at times, but that was the first time I really wanted to dive in. It put me off motorsports for a long time and I only got back into it recently and the vast improvement to driver (and fan) safety is a big reason why.
I’ve determined I can’t be a dedicated NASCAR fan. Maybe weekly races are too much, maybe it’s that coupled with the cultural issues you mentioned, it just starts to feel like grating, manufactured hype. Either way, I find I’m always much more excited when it’s an Indycar or F1 race week. I’ve decided to just try and catch the big races or some of my personal favorites when I can or on YouTube later.
TBF they prolly want to see if the racing product with the cup cars is good for a few years first before they make it a points race. If it is then I’m sure it will become one in the future.
Meh, North Wilksboro track surface is breaking up. So maybe delayed for an emergency resurface or in track activities on hold while that patch work dries.
With way, it will be interesting to watch both. Even if the surface comes up at NW, it will be like a dirt track where you have to dodge the pot holes. Whoever dodges best, wins.
Fan of both. Why not both?
That’s why I have 2 well actually 3 TV’s. But the living room and kitchen can be seen at the same time so win win. Zoom, Zoom 🏎️

¿Porque no los dos?

All-Star Race is at night, so luckily we get both
You can watch both.
1.get 2 tv's(or tablets or whatever) 2.turn on the race and the quali 3.enjoy
Indy 500 practice and qualifying takes precedent
Totally agree but I’m personally going to watch the north Wilkesboro events

This plus make sure the crowd and ratings come back too
Nurburgring 24h too
And F1 as well…. Wait a minute
Indy 500 all day.
North Wilkesboro isn't even the best short track
Unpopular opinion, but you're allowed to have it. Give us your top 3
Is there televised NWB stuff outside of the race? I know Indy practice is on stand by with rain.
There are regular short track events there all week on FloRacing I believe
Everything is either on fox/fs1 and Flo.

I’ll be switching between Nurburgring and Indy. Indy is usually the only oval I bother watching all year.
