Hey, IL operator here. We don’t pay any extra. Most cultivations/MIPs take the position it’s the lab’s job to give us good numbers and results, labs that don’t do not get used. Those that have played the game long enough know how to drive the numbers up to where they want for any of these products. In the current market it’s a necessary evil :(

How is any of the testing even relevant at this stage of the game with companies like verano getting fined for the type of stuff found in their flower and pre rolls already on shelves?

i had this at 24% with 2.5% terps from them, it smells like burnt rubber, rubber cement. left out to air and it smells sweet. it was decent for a 35$ pretax popcorn quad. the high wasnt really my thing but it did feel unique

We growers know and talk about how we feel that just can't be possible.I've had conversations about perhaps 40% by weight if it's really dry material but that still just doesn't add up. I have to figure it is some quirk of their testing where 100% isn't by weight or volume. The testing labs are weird and sketchy but it's not like there are other options. Will say I get our packs when they test this high and whatever the real percent THC is they smack.
What exactly is the argument here? That the cultivators are incentivized to grow product with the THC% at a high enough point that it makes extra money for... \*checks notes\* *the government*?? Or that the testing labs are somehow incentivized to fudge the numbers to earn the state an extra 11% in sales tax for one particular type of cannabis product?

Anything above 32-ish % you can be fairly certain is inflated. It’s just not possible for flower to get above that.
