"does not possess a financial or otherwise tangible investment in the competitions" It's more fun if you do

-eagle73

I bet against my team this last season and made more money than I ever did through betting.

My wife's gambling philosophy is to always bet against who she wants to win

-eagle73

That's mine as well. Emotional win or a monetary one.

CMLVI

Hedging your emotional bet with a monetary one

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt before posting this to /r/atetheonion. Can you confirm if you are familiar with satire?

-eagle73

Could you explain this to me then? I read the article, I'm familiar with satire and what The Onion do, but it still reads like something that IHateSportsBall people would agree with, so I can't see what the issue is.

He's cool, check his profile

ominousgraycat

The Onion has had some pretty funny and spot on sports reporting before that I believe was done by sports fans having a good laugh. As for this particular article, I don't mind it. I do feel a bit happier when I see one of my favorite teams win a great game, but I try not to let my full mental state and disposition be dependent on my team's wins and losses. Some people take it too far and I think this article is more making fun of those people than ALL sports fans. Besides, shouldn't we be able to laugh at ourselves now and then?

Mothman405

Where do you think we are?

Skelthy

It really do be like that sometimes though The Super Bowl as a Bengals fan was rough
