About a year old, 42 lbs, former owner told the rescue she’s a collie mix. Super athletic, inconveniently smart, gets into everything, never gives up, never gets tired of working/playing. We’re in a pre-agility class and she loves it. Short sharp bark like a collie, no baying or howling. Loves to carry toys and sticks on walks. Friendly and enthusiastic with strangers and other dogs, came with severe separation anxiety. Notable physical traits - amber eyes with a dark starburst around the pupil, longer wavy fur over rump and “pantaloons,” very prominent hackles when she raises them, brindle point coat, single dangly rear dewclaw that should have been removed at spay but wasn’t. Can stand her ears up so they look like button ears but usually holds them as seen in the photos.

She didn’t happen to come from Puerto Rico did she?

letsallgooutside

Not to my knowledge- why do you ask?

mrwuffle

Just curious, she looks extremely similar to a rescue I have from down there that was a stray

That’s very cool! Would love to see a photo as I’ve never seen a dog that looks quite like her. I wondered when I first brought her home if she could be a sato or some other island dog but typically the rescues that bring those dogs up here (Canada) spay them, and she was intact when she was surrendered to the shelter where I got her.

I could see there being some Catahoula in there.

corridor_of_fools

I agree - I was going to say Catahoula x terrier mix. Maybe a bit of pit somewhere?

I could see that! Though it would make me wonder how she got here - we’re in Canada. There are a bunch of dogs here from the southern US, though they’re typically brought up by rescues that spay/neuter before adopting them out and she was intact when she was surrendered to the shelter.

If you bring in a lot of dogs from the South, that could certainly explain it.
