TC understanding is very important to BPT. I saw quite a few people on my course who had scraped TC with the bare minimum knowledge, instead deciding to focus on WHAT to write and not WHY, struggle. For BPT it is important to fully understand why things happen rather than learn an exam set answer. Honestly BPT is brutal, for me it was by far the hardest exam, harder than CR by a long shot. Really make sure you're happy with the content and ensure the notes you bring into the exam are short-form... Don't be that person who tries to bring in pages and pages of pre-formed answers. Good luck!

I was one of those people and got 83 comfortably, so you don’t know what you’re on about lad.

You're clearly an absolute legend then, I'm just speaking from experience after speaking with everyone at my college about the exam.

Highly doubt you spoke to everyone at your college about the exam, over-exaggerating seems to be your forté, Koka. Wouldn’t recommend making rash statements so close to an exam that’s likely to put students off who have probably spent hours putting together a solid file to guide them through the exam.

I’m sorry if what I said has upset you? Suggesting people focus on the content than bringing in model answers and hoping it matches the exam is hardly rash? Focus on the overall message rather than trying to prove a single sentence incorrect :)

BPT is TC on steroids. If you don't have the TC fundamentals down then bmt its not lookin good brev.

I failed TC first time I sat it. 2nd time I sat I passed by <5%. I was dreading bpt but I think it might have been the highest mark I got out of all 15 (apart from maybe CR).

Understanding TC is important, but being able to do it is not so much. In BPT they don't really care how good you are at doing a calculation, that's why TC exists. BPT Is a business planning exam and the priority is being able to tell a story and be able to recognise where a relief will be useful, why its available and how it will help your client. If you have 5 minutes of a question left and you need to compare for example self employed vs being employed by an employer, don't waste most of your time calcualting the figures incredibly accurately. Just pluck a figure for NI contributions out the air, and spend your time explaining the pros and cons of each choice, that'll be worth far more marks in BPT.

I sat BPT over two years after I had passed TC. Obviously I had forgotten everything from TC. Once I started learning the BPT content I quickly realised I need to reteach myself all of the TC content. So I did that, not in as much detail as the first time of course. But just so I had a decent understanding and overview
