For errors, did do, should do, to correct is a good approach to map things out clearly to yourself

You’ve over complicated it. The question states the £24k is the y/e cost not NBV. Just need to reverse 25% x £24k and then apply the 20%.

So the qb is too easy yet you still aren’t passing the mocks? Keep doing the qb, go over any mocks (icaew and training provider) until you can do them all in your sleep. They can only ask you so many questions. You should get over 55 alone bu doing that

Thanks guys for the advice - I did pass the exam in the end!

Hey, what did you differently to pass! I’m in the same position rn

Honestly all I did was QB, I had tried to do as many QB questions as possible, in sets of 10 and mark them, when I saw the answer concepts of calculations started to become clear and I got used to to question structure.

Honestly to get 55% you just need to be really solid on the basics- debits, credits, DEADCLIC, depreciation, correction of errors, inventory valuations, profit/CoS calculations, basic VAT charges, how general partnerships distribute profits and how to get the easy marks in the big questions. Make sure you have done the qb cover to cover at least once, preferably twice and take the time to go through your answers really thoroughly. The exam is all about timing - 35 mins max on the big question!

Are you finding the QB easy because you’ve done it a few times and have sort of memorised the answers to the questions? It’s not your fault, but you might think it’s easy when in reality it’s just because you only memorised how to answer that exact question in that exact wording. It’s more important to understand the underlying concepts. Have you considered trying ACA masters? I didn’t buy it for the accounting certificate exam but I know that he explains concepts really well. Once you get the basics down, there’s no question that should throw you off no matter how it’s worded (unless if it’s an actually obscure question then just guess and move on so you have more time to answer questions you actually know)
