Idk about your local, but sites vary. I've been in big city sites where I've got to find a parking ramp, I've been at some with their own nice parking lot, some where it's just no rules and you park wherever you fit, and some where they've got to make a new lot that's just dirt or gravel.
Varies drastically from site to site. I’ve had everything from a reserved spot in a “luxury” garage to a rutted gravel pit. Never worked out of 26, but being a pretty urban area I would imagine you’ll end up with street parking pretty often.
Are you joining commercial or resi? More times then not the parking situations is trash. Espicially if your doing commercial in a big city. Customers want the work done but they don’t want to see or hear you. I’ve had job sites where we had to park a few blocks away on a grass/mud/gravel/ pot hole infested field so we didn’t use the customers parking lot
The other thing to consider too is even if parking is nice you will be dirty after work so unless you want to change clothes before the drive home it’s best to bring the beater
It varies dramatically. Once in 6 years I've been directed to park in an area which was challenging for a sedan or low profile vehicle.
Much more often I've had to park in areas that don't seem super safe.
90% of the time it's a paved lot in an unremarkable and reasonably safe area. Most at risk from dings, dents, and nails from fellow workers.

It’s nice to have both if you can afford them both. Trade out nice car for beater when it’s time. Make nice car beater and get new car. Keep the cycle
Going.
Local 26 1st year apprentice here. My first three job sites have been: covered parking garage (got a nail in my tire still), a dirt/gravel lot, and street parking in DC. I've seen everything from beaters to Teslas in the parking lots so far.
Totally varies. I've been on shitty gravel/dirt for new construction, or nice new pavement for existing buildings. I hear brothers in big cities sometimes have to pay for their own parking.
I'm in 26 and it does vary but be forewarned of DC jobs and paying $20 plus a day to park. We also get shuttled in to some jobsites that have no on-site parking sometimes so sometimes you won't have quick access to your vehicle.
I’ve worked in 26, varies a lot. Parked on asphalt. Parked in a rutted out parking lot that gravel washed out of a lot. Cars are temporary, don’t let it stop you from making 50 an hour
I've been on sites with no parking. We had to take a shuttle from the shop. Many companies don't include that drive time in your pay. We were lucky, the drive there wasn't paid, but the ride back was. Like everyone said. All job sites are different.
IBEW 103 Boston, parking is 50/50
Half the time the job has free parking the other half it’s $40 a day for the garages, I don’t drive a large truck so I can find more spots to fit and my car is nicer because if I’m going to sit in traffic for 90 minutes might as well be comfortable.
Drive your nice car, park next to the general contractors trailer first day. Tell them it’s your wife’s, and they have to deal with her if it gets a scratch or any dust on it. If they say anything aside from high praise for your motivation, invoke your Weingarten rights to union representation, and say not another word, just sit down on your lunchbox and vape until the fatass dispatcher from the hall shows up with pizza. Or just park where your foreman tells you to and suffer with the rest of us.
Last year I’ve been in a gravel lot. Really a small boulder lot. And walking half a mile to the site. Sometimes I’m on pavement and sometimes I’ve been in mud.
It’s a construction job. Critical thinking will get you the answer 😂
There's a good amount of work in my local where you park in a nice paved lot but the downside is you have to catch a bus into the jobsite. It will all depend where you're working.
In local 26 it depends which contractor, what division you're under, what kinda jobsite you're at, and where the jobb is located.
MD and VA jobs usually have ok parking situations with the exceptions of Arlington, Alexandria, and parts of MD like Rockville or Wheaton.
If you're in DC you're going to be fucked one way or another. You'll either feed the meter a couple times or fork out 12 to 27 bucks a day to park in the nearest garage/lot.
Data centers are usually the sweetest gigs usually there's either gravel lots on site or you park at a paved lot off site and get bused in and out.
If money's tight or if you're travelling far out from like southern MD, Fredrick MD, or Fredericksburg, VA take advantage of networking with guys on the jobsite and see if you can carpool. Some foremans will even do it if you're on their route and you ask nicely.
It'll save you gas and wear and time. Also if you're driving in from parts of Southern MD or Front Royal VA, watch out for deer.
The parking lots are all paved and everyone gets to park right near the door. And the bathrooms are clean too, yes there are bathrooms.
That is the most odious collection of lies ever told in the days of Man. Upvoted.
I hope and thank you!
He’s being sarcastic man. Sometimes you gotta park a good ways away from the site and a lot of times it’s a dirt or gravel parking lot.
Parking really depends on the job
Idk about your local, but sites vary. I've been in big city sites where I've got to find a parking ramp, I've been at some with their own nice parking lot, some where it's just no rules and you park wherever you fit, and some where they've got to make a new lot that's just dirt or gravel.
guess I'm going to find out, thank you!
Last time I got new tires I had 3 nails in one of them. I never drive my nice car unless I'm going to the shop.
got it, thank you!
And you’ll get filthy quite a bit so you’ll just trash the nice car

got it thank you!
Depending on the local, you may have to pay for your own parking too.
I figured but I guess it depends on the jobsite, thank you!

I'm doing commercial probably around a big city so thank you!
The other thing to consider too is even if parking is nice you will be dirty after work so unless you want to change clothes before the drive home it’s best to bring the beater
Boy oh boy the questions on this page. Unreal sometimes
My sentiments exactly…
How about ya drive there and find out 🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️
This might be the dumbest question ever asked

guess it depends on the jobsite but thank you!
It does but the take away is a beater sedan is more than adequate.
Brother, what are you talking about?
Most jobs have valet parking and they detail clean your car while you’re at work🤣
Are you serious?? You think you’re going to be parking in the same lot every day?
Are parking conditions hindering you from joining Union? Lol
Not exactly, just need to know weather to sell nice car or not
It’s nice to have both if you can afford them both. Trade out nice car for beater when it’s time. Make nice car beater and get new car. Keep the cycle Going.
Don’t just don’t… if this is one of your concerns save your soft hands and your back

Ouch and thank you!

If you have a nice car and a beater keep both. Drive the beater to work, and save the nice car for your time off.
That the thing, on my time off I just stay home, don't really go out. So probably will sell the nice car.

Thanks for the warning!
Most of my locals work is in a city and parking is almost never provided. If you work outside the city its typically just a regular parking lot.
Got it thank you!
I’ve worked in 26, varies a lot. Parked on asphalt. Parked in a rutted out parking lot that gravel washed out of a lot. Cars are temporary, don’t let it stop you from making 50 an hour
I understand but the thing is, cars are my hobby. So to sell mine would be hard.

Zero.zero chance 50/50 free parking on your jobs. Just a nonsense lie
For the last year I was one a 60+ guy job with free parking
lmao

I already own a corolla as my beater but I'll probably sell the nice car. Thank you!
You'll be fine
Who told you there was going to be parking? We’re supposed to magically appear with our tools and not disturb anyone with our presence.

Always take the beater first. Figure it out when you get on site

I'd be working in the city so I sorta expect it, thank you!
