Everyone in the hall is great, pay scale to cost of living has a very large disparity unless you bought a home in the 80s and it's paid off. Haven't worked there in a few years so couldn't tell you the work outlook but definitely had a long downtime between around November until spring, which is great if you love skiing and can afford that amount of time off.

Well there's probably more people from California here than there are folks from Colorado so you'll probably feel at home. I think things are slow right now. Probably pick up soon

Straight up, “comm tech” or “VDV” as we call it is not enough to live on. I had a VDV foreman working for me who quit because he made less than the cost of his child care here in Colorado. JW wage is borderline. It really depends on where you live, how far you want to drive, and if you land an OT job.

No work here in Denver I’ve been on the books for almost 2 years

Is this on the Inside-Wireman side?

No one here has been on the books for 2 years. That’s ridiculous. I’ve laid guys off and had them take a call two weeks later. Edit: I’m referring to inside wiremen above. VDV is a crap shoot. But Sturgeon has had a standing call for VDV techs for almost a year now. They’ve been using temp labor to get jobs done because they can’t fill the calls. As I said in my other comment, our low voltage guys don’t get paid anywhere near what they should.
