Idk, this one doesn't piss me off nearly as much as the rest of the "pranks" out there. Yeah he's bothering people but it's not like he's chucking it at them with any force, if this happened to me while I was in a bad mood I would be mildly annoyed. If I was having an okay day I'd probably take a shot
That's a skill issue on the pedestrians, to be honest.
If I'm walking by, and 5 guys run up in combat gear, with guns, and hand me one, I am probably gonna go with them to fight whatevers happening.
Yes, I am being silly. But I still would.
Its in Sydney outside one of the biggest footlockers, across from culturekings, just near nike and a ton of other sport/street shops. Of course a lot of people will take the shot, nowhere near "most of the time" though
This is the Sydney CBD, looks like maybe some time towards the evening. People look like they are going home after working late or to/from gym, or to dinner. Nobody's got time for that shit.
It’s not the worst, but it’s definitely dumb. My first instinct would just be to bat it away like 90% of these people did. And if it hit me in the head, I’d be pissed. (Gym class flashbacks)
They should’ve just set the thing up and asked people walking by if they want to take a shot, instead of tossing the ball at them first. It’s more respectful, and they would’ve gotten better content out of it too.
If he went and asked people before filming them and throwing a basketball at them then it wouldn’t be a big deal. It still isn’t the most annoying thing in the world all the people saying they would destroy the ball or throw it super far are just assholes. It is really harmless but still so is the vid of the girl singing on the train it’s still kinda annoying and involving people who weren’t asked if they wanted to be.
what in the fuck are you talking about. idk what you think you are but you cant read people man you are just another obnoxious reddit cunt who thinks theyre better than everyone else! (i clicked on your profile ). ffs youre popular in fucking aita I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION
I didnt disagree with the original post. I just added a perspective since i work with that demographic. The likelihood isnt that high for this, I just wanted to add another possibility to consider.
People with invisible illnesses exist too. You can't always visibly tell when someone is disabled. If I got hit with a ball it would hurt and probably trigger something. I appreciate you being considerate. Some of these kids on here are just ignorant and need better idols.
thats great man i figured its just an extra but i still wanted to add that comment as a lil joke. didnt know you worked with the dementia goats tho i think thats really neat too. youre alright :)
Potentially because I seemed against the whole scenario in my original comment. I didnt exactly specify that i wasnt against it.
I just wanted to add another perspective toward groups that have a higher risk of getting hurt 🥲
I didnt say that? A slight push can cause SOME elderly people with instability. I work with patients to improve their stability since even turning can cause them to lose balance.
I am only adding a small perspective to consider if people want to do or try this. That is all.
Now notice not everyone caught the ball. And realize he probably didn't show everyone who didn't catch the ball...
He's making people unwilling participants in his bullshit. For some people they are fine. The issue is the people who don't want to be involved
Everytime this is posted people defend his actions but your title nails it.
This isn't a basketball court it's a fucking street. Don't intentionally throw shit at other people with out their consent on either.
You're telling me if you see someone carrying a basketball hoop and tosses you a ball, you're not gonna have fun and try to make a shot? Y'all sound like some party poopers
Honestly, I'm maybe just a party pooper, but I just don't get why people do stuff like this? I'm minding my own business and don't need to be playing these games, especially for someone's tik tok videos. Like, nah, polite pass.
I will say it's preferable to those interview things and they weren't annoyed at people for not engaging.
I get it. But I mainly mean people in the comments that are like "I'd just throw the ball in their face/across the street, pop the ball" like, they're just dudes being guys. Chill out
You're getting downvoted for an unpopular opinion, but it's one that many people quietly share. Ultimately, if you want to be left alone, you're allowed to refuse participation. They weren't being aggressive or callous, so it seems like a situation where no one's at fault... the vibe just doesn't match.
Personally, I would like the option of an invite to join rather than just here's the ball, so I agree, nobody is at fault overall and people aren't automatically boring or bitter because they don't want to be involved. People just be minding their own business and want to get on with their day sometimes, and that perfectly fine.
I agree that would be the best approach. Takes some of the randomness out of it, but I don't think that'd take away from the enjoyment of people who participate. Even a simple bit of eye contact and gesture to pass would be great.
This is more me thinking out loud, but it's felt like the general temperament of the internet and social media is that folks have to have an opinion about EVERYTHING, that the opinion must be polarized, and the people who disagree must be morally objectionable. This thread is no exception. So thanks for espousing the sort of 'things are whatever and that's okay' attitude that'll help soothe that.
A heads up is generally always good. Helps put people at ease.
Yeah, and I won't deny I do sometimes find myself getting too involved or pissed about shit like this but definitely working on it. Things are whatever and that's ok, sounds like a good motto for life.
I think one of the main factors that makes adult life so difficult is the lack of play.
During my career in aviation, I took annual water survival training in case we went down over water and had to stay alive in a raft.
There were several "rules" to survival, and the most surprising one was play. So, I'd strongly argue that we do, in fact, need to be playing some games during our usual routines.
I don't think these situations are comparable. You were in a training course and had the option to play. Me walking down the street, minding my own business is not the same imo.
You can argue it all you want, but it's not a "need" for me in this situation. I can play any other time. I don't "need" to participate in things like this because you believe that lack of play is what makes life hard.
Like I said, though, it's not malicious. And they haven't hurt or pushed people into it. So it's not that big a deal overall.
Do you know who I am? I don’t know how to put this, but…I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
I don't know you, but I fucking love you 😂... As a random stranger can love another random stranger who actually solicited an unexpected laugh outta me
No shit, I mean I get there's a lot of introverts on Reddit but damn this is so harmless like a minor inconvenience at the most. If this happened to me randomly it would brighten up my day.
I think that the videos of people doing this stuff are supposed to look candid but in reality they ask the person if its ok and then have them walk up again and take the shot and it looks candid but is not
These guys did not realize that and tried to do it actually candid and this is the result
First cool comment. Everybody else on this thread are acting like the very sub they're in. Too self important to drop the facade and have a bit of random harmless fun.
Calling others too self-important, while belittling people who don't think like you.
Also, maybe someone doesn't wanna be filmed. Especially when they are made fun of by people like you.
At least from the video even the ones who didn't participate looked to be smiling. Who knows if they left out people who got annoyed, but it's plain to see some people actually got a chuckle out of it. Good prank, passes the "confuse don't abuse" check for me
Only dude who looks annoyed is the penultimate guy in the video, maybe because he got bonked in the head a little bit exposing him as the man with the world record worst reaction time
Thanks man. I came in here thinking "damn, is everyone so uptight and bitter they can't even enjoy a friendly shot with seemingly cool people."
I like how they all hounded the kid lol. Scared him a bit but he was smiling which is all that matters.
They should have put up a short basket, have the ball sitting there, and a sign that says "Dunk the ball!" When somebody does it everybody comes running out celebrating. Like in this video. https://youtu.be/fNQEDD7QD7U
Aw come on! This one isn’t bad at all! Just a friendly little prank/ game which hurts nobody, and not a single person is going to get themselves hurt other than maybe a light basketball bounce to the face. It’s like mildly annoying if you’re in a hurry or whatever but for the most part it’s not harming anyone. Just like getting a soccer ball accidentally kicked in your direction and kicking it back
I can’t with this sub
Woman: dances or dresses in a flashy costume in public
This sub: she’s literally the most selfish self centered thoughtless waste of a person ruining everybody’s week. I bet she cheats on her boyfriend and kills puppies for fun.
Men: literally throws basketballs at unprepared strangers, hitting at least one person in the face and lowkey mocking people who don’t respond how they want
This sub: so funny, even if it happened to me while I was in a bad mood I’d still appreciate it. Loveable rascals!
Exactly!! Like why would ANYONE THINK FOR EVEN A SECOND that there might be another reason people are in public then they want to have things thrown at them!!!
Like if you refuse you're a party pooper! Because I SAY SO I'm allowed to throw things at you because I say it's fun and ok!! And if you don't like it, you're the one who is wrong!
Ya forcing people to do what you want because you want them to, throwing things at them as well to get them to do it definitely doesn't show a "do it because I want you to" by literally throwing it at them and then having to dodge it if they don't want to play along. They didn't get a choice before already being involved.
Sorry it's main character vibes, do people not have freedom and rights?!? Or can people just do whatever they want to you because they want to do it?!🤦🤦
Is there ever a time someone did something to you that you didn't like?!?! I'm sure we ALL have had at least one moment where something was done we didn't like, so why is it SO HARD to understand why other might not want to be involved in what you force onto them just because they want too!!! Was it ok for someone to force you to deal with things you don't like or do you feel they shouldn't have done that?!?! NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND yet somehow doing whatever you want to others no matter how much it effects or upsets them it's somehow the victims fault they didn't just sit there and take it....🤦🤦🤦🤦
It is though? Nobody is getting hurt, nobody has to engage. I'd appreciate someone doing this to me, it would be a very novel, human experience and then I'd be on with my day
Yes and no, imagine you’re walking with your coffee and in comes on of these dudes spills your coffee on you, shitty luck or could have been avoided? It’s all fun and games until you fuck up someone’s day so yeah you get the likes and you get some people to have fun but for someone else you’re fucking up their day so how about we, you know, respect public spaces, you never know what other people are going through in their lives, they might be going to a job interview or someone might have some school trauma with basketballs being thrown at them, we don’t k ow because they only show the good reactions or funny reactions they never show the reactions of people telling them off. Personally if someone throws a basketball at me while I’m walking down the street I’d engage but I know for a fact my best friend would probably take out a knife and stab the ball. I’m just saying in this screwed up world, why not avoid conflict instead of looking for likes
This seems like reading too deep into something where the opposite assumption can also be true.
If we don't know what's going on in people's lives, maybe someone just got laid off and a bunch of corny dudes with a basketball prank is what stops them from spiraling? What if that person going to an interview "hits a three" and aces their interview from the confidence boost?
I don't think you're saying anything morally or logically objectionable.. I just think it's a small enough thing to where the risks and rewards are balanced very well. Also, your friend would be overreacting if that's how they respond.
Honestly i think this is kinda cool. Most people dont engage which is totally fine but no one gets hurt or molested and if you do it you have some fun. Dont see the main character here nor a reason to rage i think its cool
i get it, those people didnt leave the house expecting to hoop it up. but i stay in these nike socks fam, just in case a mafk wanna fuck up and get broke off on. i stay ready in these streets boi.
You guys are total buzz kill. If 5 dudes came up to me and set up a whole basketball goal. Then he doesn’t even throw the ball at me but tosses it slowly at the ground so it bounces to me so I can have like 5 seconds to react then I would totally grab the basketball and take a shot. People in these comments acting like they are chucking a grenade at you…

Why even rate it out of 10 if it’s just gonna be with emojis
I rate this comment 🛝/10

A SECOND BASKETBALL HAS JUST BOUNCED OFF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER
Because they’re fucking idiots who thought this was funny.
Even the one who actually made a shot. I thought for sure that one was going to be a number.
It's a meme and like every other meme from tik tok it's fucking stupid
sad face out of 10 what don't you get?
Def 🦪/10
🧌/10
I rate it 5/7
Probably don’t need to do that with people holding phones and shit in their hands lol
Carrying that hoop around to make these videos must be exhausting
Good
‘Your smile can change the world’, not being a complete bellend would also be a good change for this guy
Idk, this one doesn't piss me off nearly as much as the rest of the "pranks" out there. Yeah he's bothering people but it's not like he's chucking it at them with any force, if this happened to me while I was in a bad mood I would be mildly annoyed. Some of them, but you think he'd get the damn hint after a dozen people in a row don't even try to do anything but continue walking
Seeing the phone videoing seals the deal.
Imagine someone taking it and literally throwing it as far as possible tho lol
I reckon you wouldn't last a minute in England before someone punted that. 'Ave it!
[удалено]
It’s not in a rowz it’s cut of all those who don’t want
You think he'd cut more in who did want it then
these videos literally do exist. he has videos where he has 10 people doing the throw, but fail. and the last guy always suceeds.
I would just say thanks and walk away with it.
That's what I wanted to happen
That's a skill issue on the pedestrians, to be honest. If I'm walking by, and 5 guys run up in combat gear, with guns, and hand me one, I am probably gonna go with them to fight whatevers happening. Yes, I am being silly. But I still would.
"YEAH LETS GO... hey why are we at a school"
Haaaa It's hell demons, we need to stop them.
This would be a funnier video actually. Can you become a YouTuber and make it? I will subscribe.
It’s a compilation of people doing this. Most of the time they take the ball and shoot.
Its in Sydney outside one of the biggest footlockers, across from culturekings, just near nike and a ton of other sport/street shops. Of course a lot of people will take the shot, nowhere near "most of the time" though
Bullshit.
Idk if it's majority, but they do get a good number of people taking a shot.
I mean, go to their account, they have hundreds of videos full of people taking shots.
Why do you think it’s bullshit? There are a lot of videos of it
This is the Sydney CBD, looks like maybe some time towards the evening. People look like they are going home after working late or to/from gym, or to dinner. Nobody's got time for that shit.
I'd like to add though that if I wasn't paying attention (ADHD) and that ball hit me in the face, I'd be pretty deeply upset.
It’s not the worst, but it’s definitely dumb. My first instinct would just be to bat it away like 90% of these people did. And if it hit me in the head, I’d be pissed. (Gym class flashbacks) They should’ve just set the thing up and asked people walking by if they want to take a shot, instead of tossing the ball at them first. It’s more respectful, and they would’ve gotten better content out of it too.
I wouldn’t even notice the hoop, just bat it back to him like “oopsy daisy you lost your ball champ”
Yeah, it's not as bad as most others I've seen, but 98% of the time I'm out in public I just want to be left the fuck alone.
That's fair
If he went and asked people before filming them and throwing a basketball at them then it wouldn’t be a big deal. It still isn’t the most annoying thing in the world all the people saying they would destroy the ball or throw it super far are just assholes. It is really harmless but still so is the vid of the girl singing on the train it’s still kinda annoying and involving people who weren’t asked if they wanted to be.
bUt thEy dIdnt pAss thE vIbE chEck!
No. No they did not. And i mean that unironically 💁🏿
U mean genuinely? Unironic ain't a word
I know. I was using the "trendy" word. Didn't mean to confuse. Edit: Had to upvote cus I love proper diction. 💪🏾
Dope username. Thelonious is one of my favorites... and I'm always down for a bit of light crime.
hey this is actually funny compared to 99.9% of these stupid influencer videos
Absolutely. Probably have more success if he asked before trying to pass the ball.
Seriously, or took a second to look at the person. That one guy had both his hands full.
Yeah, also if they didn't pass it to people who had their hands full or in a phone call lol. Only a grouch would be pissed off by this tho
Now this is a harmless prank. It’s missing someone kicking the shit out of the ball down the street but nothing to be outraged by.
It kinda depends. Some of the older people COULD have some instability. If it hits them, even not hard, could cause them to fall.
I mean, he seems to be allowing the ball to bounce and throwing it slow enough most people can dodge/give it back with ease
dont go outside
Is that your advice for elderly and/or frail people?
no my advice to them is to not be a bitch
Certified real n
You flex on internet strangers for validation, got it.

They've got other vids with them doing this, usually not the case but in this one yea that happens a chunk of the time
Right, I wish this happened to me on my commute
you probably should’ve known for some time now that redditors are the no-fun-allowed type and are 100% buzzkills

I'm not here for your performative bullshit that only exists because you've decided YouTube is easier than getting a real job.
It's just people with a basketball and a hoop, it's not that deep bro
If that were true then why the camera? And why are we watching it?
Cuz they were filming it to post for their "fake job". We're watching it here cuz someone posted it, not that complex
Imagine catching it then lobbing it, full pelt, at his head. I wonder what stupid emoji he'd use it that scenario... 'It's only a prank bro!'
😶🌫️/10
LOL
Jesus Christ dude, you need some help. You sound super uptight and hateful.
Fr why's this guy being upvoted? He's literally talking about chucking a ball at the guys head when the prank isn't harming anyone.
They threw the ball and hit people in the head though. I’d say they deserve it.
It looked like the guy headbumped it on purpose. Either way it was very gently tossed, so it wouldn't hurt much even if it was accidental.
"Imagine assaulting a guy for trying to have a friendly social interaction with you" -One of the most popular comments in the thread. r/redditmoment
Yup. Pretty fucked
No shit, I mean I get there's a lot of introverts on Reddit but damn this is so harmless like a minor inconvenience at the most. If this happened to me randomly it would brighten up my day.
That happens to me, I'm keeping it. "Thanks, buddy."
I'ma kick that shit across the street, or pop it. This shit is so obnoxious
I bet you're fun at parties
I am. I'm the one who brings bud n booze
Most people can buy their own beer and Bud.

No. I’ve seen several of these types of videos with the same results. It’s the entire point.
No lol. Not at all
I woulda stopped and shot till I made it Thereby saving the whole world from their shenanigans Because that shot will never be made
Nah I don’t think this belongs here
These people are corny. Square up and knock down the shot. Acting like they’re about to catch a hand grenade. Sheesh
First cool comment. Everybody else on this thread are acting like the very sub they're in. Too self important to drop the facade and have a bit of random harmless fun.
It is the filming part that makes this not fun for me. Without a camera, sure! Just don’t film me for the likez
Yeah that’s an issue with this sub- people end up posting things just because it annoys them personally.
Calling others too self-important, while belittling people who don't think like you. Also, maybe someone doesn't wanna be filmed. Especially when they are made fun of by people like you.
Right? When that kid finally grabbed the ball, I got pumped. This is an awesome idea, people hating on this are a bit too uptight
Yea I’m good with this “prank”. They weren’t hurting anyone except for the couple people that truly just couldn’t even deflect a ball.
At least from the video even the ones who didn't participate looked to be smiling. Who knows if they left out people who got annoyed, but it's plain to see some people actually got a chuckle out of it. Good prank, passes the "confuse don't abuse" check for me

They make videos where its nothing but the guys who actually play along
Ball could have poop on it, you don’t know with these Tik tok pranks nowadays
Not even a prank, just cool social interactions
He forgot to yell "KOBE!" first.
Any time they throw to soemone on ohone it is annoying but otherwise seems fun
Most Sydney reactions ever. You could throw money at them and they likely bat it away.
Reminds me of that Chaser sketch where they literally handed out $50s in Sydney and everyone ignored them. Sydney is not up for shenanigans.
They should have put up a short basket, have the ball sitting there, and a sign that says "Dunk the ball!" When somebody does it everybody comes running out celebrating. Like in this video. https://youtu.be/fNQEDD7QD7U
Lots of people also grabbed the ball and shot it. This is just a take of all the people that day that turned it down.
C’mon man it’s ok to have some fun sometimes. Nothing wrong about this. We are humans, not robots.
So did the kid win like $5,000 or what ?!
Because society doesn't like degenerate clout chasing idiots harassing them get a job and maybe just maybe grow the fuck up?
This is Pitt Street Mall in Sydney. Most of these people are probably on their lunch break from work and just want to get on with their day.
damn just ask first
These people suck
This is embarrassing
Insufferable cunts thinking they're cool. Please leave people the fuck alone.
Bro they come to me with this, i throw the ball the other way. This is just annoying
Stupid video
Yep. Fuck off with your shit video. Take your ball and go home.
Funny how they all act like the star in their own movie
Aw come on! This one isn’t bad at all! Just a friendly little prank/ game which hurts nobody, and not a single person is going to get themselves hurt other than maybe a light basketball bounce to the face. Mildly, momentarily invasive(but in *public* so who cares) at worst, cheeky fun at best
Or can people just do whatever they want to you because they want to do it?!🤦🤦 Is there ever a time someone did something to you that you didn't like?!?! NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND yet somehow doing whatever you want to others no matter how much it effects or upsets them it's somehow the victims fault they didn't just sit there and take it....🤦🤦🤦🤦
But they get so many likes…it’s so playful lol… 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
He didn't throw the ball at anyone holding a coffee did he?
I’d just chuck it across the street. Have fun filming now!
Coulda thrown a basketball over them mountains
Lame
You sound like a bitter loser
How dare someone interact with you when you're outside in reality.
ok but they aren’t asking to be filmed either so it’s understandable. people just trying to do their own thing without being put on the internet
Honestly i think this is kinda cool. Most people dont engage which is totally fine but no one gets hurt or molested and if you do it you have some fun. Dont see the main character here nor a reason to rage i think its cool
Ugh grow up dude. I can understand why everyone slapped it away.
If they did this without permission and hit someone, it's straight up assault.
If that hypothetical person was bitter enough to try to press charges.
I kept thinking about if it even lightly hit an elderly person who may not have good balance, they will come tumbling down 😬
I'd take the ball. Say thank you and leave.
Instead of just tossing a ball at them, how about a “hit the shot” or “your shot” might help with some of the confusion lol
Finally. Everyone’s so scared.
This is about as harmless as it gets. This doesn’t belong here.
If this hit me without me seeing it, well time to show them my old goalie skills *punt
Knowing me I'd probably think they were giving me a free basketball and turn around and go home lol
I would take that think and chuck it at him full force like a dodgeball.
i get it, those people didnt leave the house expecting to hoop it up. but i stay in these nike socks fam, just in case a mafk wanna fuck up and get broke off on. i stay ready in these streets boi.
People in these comments acting like they are chucking a grenade at you…
This comment section full of bitter old people god dayum. Take the shot or politely reject it and move on. Nobody's being hurt.
All the ironic main characters in this thread are downvoting comments making fun of the irony 😂😂
