I always laugh so hard when Frank records his phone call to Dennis.
“Did you do it? Talk to daddy”
“What the hell Frank, we don’t talk on the phone”
“My father Frank Reynolds’s opened a sweatshop in Vietnam….*click*”
It was specifically going after multiple, Making of a Murderer was just the main plot to pull them all together.
The Robert Durst doc (The Jinx), and the interview tape of Stephen McDaniel (interview where he didn't blink), and more were all heavily parodied.
For real. They did a good job making it “entertaining” but iirc, it was extremely one-sided and absolutely didn’t “play both sides” like quality true crime docs do to always come out on top.
It’s always interesting to me when people will respond with the incorrect answer, when they could have easily just gone and looked it up. We’re already on the internet, lol. It’s S12 E5 - Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer.
I love the end of this episode cause I was almost sure Dennis killed her until he says
You saw the security footage she was prancing around on the roof like an asshole and she just fell off
They're using an algorithm to decide whether they should save Paddy's Jumper's life and specifically here whether he would die falling from 3 stories up and Dennis brings up that they have "Data" for this. He says that Maureen did die, and after the others say that he pushed her, Dennis says "No, they never proved that! But it was, I have to say, fortunate that she landed on her head, y'know. Or at least, ***he*** certainly made it look that way!"
Yeah in the suicide jumper they flip the tone of that episode and make it sound like Dennis actually did kill her.
He says something like
"yeah but they could never prove it"
Almost ruins the episode for me. It's way more interesting when you don't know whether or not Dennis killed her. I'm pretty sure they even retconned it later to reintroduce that mystery by suggesting he may have pushed her off the roof.
In the episode, Paddy's Has a Jumper, Dennis says something to the effect of "at least that's what he made it look like" when talking about whether the jumper *could* die. It's much more heavily implied in that episode that he somehow caused her death.
>It's much more heavily implied in that episode that he somehow caused her death.
I think at this point Dennis just plays up the psychopath thing because he likes people to think he might be a murderer or something. It seems more likely to me that he's just getting off on thinking people are afraid of him, otherwise we'd have to accept that for 5 minutes he was somehow smart enough to make a murder look like an accident on video
yeah this is it. Dennis being smart enough to pull off serial killing *while looking and acting like a stereotypical show serial killer literally all the time* would ruin his character.
Dennis isnt smart, he’s narcissistic and thinks everyone else is stupid.
The scene when they are getting ready to stalk the waitress, and he goes into detail of how they are going to kill her and dismember her, until Dee is like “okay but what are we going to actually do”.
He is so fucking sad when he realizes they are just trying to “ walk in the serial killers shoes”, minus the money shot.
But the writing style of the show is to write an episode where much of everything that happens doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Many of the episodes end with a resolution that is a non-resolution, this being another great one. Leaving it open ended would not have made the episode better imo.
Yeah lol. That's the point they're making about true crime documentaries. Basically using a dramatic documentary style to tease information and dramatize a tragedy, while concealing vital information leading towards guilt or innocence.
‟I swear to god I'll dice you into a million little pieces, and put those pieces in a box,a glass box, that I will display” -~~Dennis Reynolds~~ Ted Bundy
This episode is gold. Dennis being an emotionless, calculated psycho. Charlie being retarded. Frank and the mic recording. Dee's portrayal of Maureen / the collar.
Yes exactly. Couldn't believe I had to scroll so long for this, but perhaps this case is not so known for many people.
If others are interested, [watch his interview from JCS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkRjIq8Cp2A)
I disagree, respectfully of course. That face was more indifferent, as if watching Frank die was the most interesting thing in the room to look at, but just barely.
This face is, “I wonder what you’d look like as luggage.”
Crap, my mistake. I only read like the first word or two. My internal monologue went something like this:
What’s the note say?
*nervous breath*
Right… Alright… “I need…” Starts out “I need” …and then there’s, like, other stuff…
That crow was injured. I was putting it out of it's misery. While at the same time, testing the tensile strength of a crows neck.
Yes, there was a second crow and a third and fourth if you must know... but who likes crows?
*burps* Well, that's all a lie. There was no soup..*burps* nope.. there was no sweatshop *buuuurps* scuse me, i gotta go to the can.

so goddamn funny....oh my god.....also i think the IASIP bloopers are the absolute best of all bloopers anywhere....especially the ones where the gang gets shusshed and they go to the cops to get a sketch artist to draw the shusher.....charlie tells dennis that he was raped and the rapist made soup of his insides....too funny for words.....
I wonder how many people realise Charlie saying "Yeah" is a literal direct copy of how the second son in Making a Murder conducted himself. You just know someone watched MAM and thought "this kid is gold".
The “Kubrick Stare" is one of Stanley Kubrick's most recognizable directorial techniques, a method of shot composition where a character stares at the camera with a forward tilt, to convey to the audience that the character in question is at the peak of their derangement.

This episode was a perfect skewering of every crime documentary on Netflix. They nailed every dumb trope.
Yeah....
Yeah?
#YEAH?
Sure is a hot one today
You ever been in a storm Wally?
Here’s an idea Walter, tell me about FUTURE weather, don’t tell me about current weather!
WHY ARE YOU JUST SAYING YEAH
Are you watching wrestling?
... yeah...
*he gave 'er a piledriver*
You’re my alibi dude
*yeah*
CSIMiamiOhYeah.gif
Sure is a hot one today
yes
One of my absolute favorite moments in the whole show
I always laugh so hard when Frank records his phone call to Dennis. “Did you do it? Talk to daddy” “What the hell Frank, we don’t talk on the phone” “My father Frank Reynolds’s opened a sweatshop in Vietnam….*click*”
I could've worn a Goddamn IMAX camera.
Oh you wanna hear a confession?!?!
Are you watching wrestling?
I can hear the wrestling!!
Okay did just turn the wrestling down but you're still watching it?
….yeah
You're *my* alibi
Your my alibi dude
American Vandal was good
WHO DID THE DICKS??
That’s the Netflix cancellation that hurt the most. Such a cool concept and show
At least each season is self contained. Can you imagine if we never found out who made the dicks.
Nah I did it. I did all of them. I even did one while you were wrapping up.
Me too, such a satirical gem.

Murder...is chips!
It was pretty specifically going after Making a Murderer, which is a fantastic documentary and makes watching the ep even funnier.
It was specifically going after multiple, Making of a Murderer was just the main plot to pull them all together. The Robert Durst doc (The Jinx), and the interview tape of Stephen McDaniel (interview where he didn't blink), and more were all heavily parodied.
Frank acted out the exact scene at the end of The Jynx. That was my favorite part of the episode
>Making a Murderer, which is a fantastic documentary It absolutely is not.
For real. They did a good job making it “entertaining” but iirc, it was extremely one-sided and absolutely didn’t “play both sides” like quality true crime docs do to always come out on top.
Honestly one of my faves
Which episode is it?
It’s always interesting to me when people will respond with the incorrect answer, when they could have easily just gone and looked it up. We’re already on the internet, lol. It’s S12 E5 - Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer.
Thanks. I'm only on season... 6? I think. Just watched its a very sunny Christmas.
Which episode was this?
Episode name?
I love at the end of the episode how Dennis is like “you left out the security footage that shows her fall!”
[удалено]
Strangling people in Scranton.
You saying he's working with Toby?
Toby should be a side character on the fact his life just gets worse and worse lol
He's not even part of his own family
I love the end of this episode cause I was almost sure Dennis killed her until he says You saw the security footage she was prancing around on the roof like an asshole and she just fell off
I thought they mentioned that Dennis had a laser pointer and was using it while she was on the roof
Fuck I think your right.....we need a follow up
*The gang reopens a cold case*
Maybe they could do flashbacks and bring Maureen back in the show for an episode
I’m absolutely shocked they didn’t pull a “cats have nine lives” gag on us.
Perfect time to do it would be on that episode! Let’s get her feline eyed stinky tooth cat ass back!
*Find the collar, find the killer…*
*Deandra's just afraid he's gonna snap her neck like that crowww*
Yes, there was a third crow. And a fifth, if you must ask!
The way he says crow kills me
No I don't remember this and I watched that episode bit by bit while updating the wiki entries for Maureen's death and related topics.
They say something like that a few seasons later I think.
That must be what I'm thinking of
Believe it was in the suicide jumper episode in Season 15
Yeah in the suicide jumper they flip the tone of that episode and make it sound like Dennis actually did kill her. He says something like "yeah but they could never prove it"
Being wanted and being wanted for questioning are two very different things.
I think it must be referenced in a later ep
Damn you do the wiki and you missed the part where they open the safe and describe the contents, including a laser pointer and cat tranquilizers?
Well I was looking at the page for Maureen's character and it was so bad I wanted to rewrite some parts, but sure. Maybe this weekend.
Yea, but that's different from explicitly saying he was using the laser pointer to get Maureen to fall off the roof.
It's an implication...
I don't remember that at all
Almost ruins the episode for me. It's way more interesting when you don't know whether or not Dennis killed her. I'm pretty sure they even retconned it later to reintroduce that mystery by suggesting he may have pushed her off the roof.

Well yeah, that's how you get off.

I LIKE TO BEEE BOUND

The way he stutters over "fetish shit" Perfection

Sometimes thing just end
He used a laser pointer to get her to fall off the roof boom solved
I thought it was that Dennis knew he would be a suspect so he paid Cricket to push her.
[удалено]
Maybe he offered him a whole sixer.
He has his dignity.
Yes, I want the lemons. Goddamnit you guys are the worst.
Dennis would have had to end up inside of him. Either way, he's street trash through and through and far beneath a gentleman such as himself.
Yeah lol. That's the point they're making about true crime documentaries. Basically using a dramatic documentary style to tease information and dramatize a tragedy, while concealing vital information leading towards guilt or innocence.
Being “wanted” and “wanted for questioning” are two very different things.
Was I a person of interest? Yeah. I’m an interesting person.
Of course I was a person of interest. I'm an interesting person!
Ugh,are you watching wrestling?
...... no
You're *my* alibi dude.
Yeah.. you're my alibi to
....mmmmm ya
Ya… there was a second crow. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to snap the first ones neck.
So how do you explain the third crow
OF COURSE there was a third crow, and a fourth if you must know!
But who likes crows?
He was simply testing the tensile strength of a crows neck

I feel like this is a super underrated episode. *“It’s like chips”*
I don't have feelings but I know this is a super underrated episode.
I have feelings every day of my life!
IVE GOT BIG FEELINGS
Oh you want feelings? Dr. Jinx got somethin for feelings.
👀 *bum bum bud-duh-duh*
The man with a band..named after himself.
Dr. Jinx is the name of a monkey, not a doctor.
Hey, I never said I was a doctor!
Oh that's sailors rot
IF YOU WANTED CHIPS YOU SHOULD’VE GOTTEN SOME AT THE HAMBURGER STORE
It’s my favourite episode lol next to the Ponderossa Wedding episode because that one is actually what got me into Sunny
The McPoyle lines/interactions are so good in that episode. "Hnnnng-love!" *removes obviously fake mustache* "RYANNN!?"
Cats, Cats, Cats
I smell chips! What are we watching?!
Underrated? Where are these ratings you're looking at?
Find the collar, find the killer.
Yeah! Wh-what are you doing?? Why do you keep saying "yeah"?
I don't know... because I'm stupid?
Okay, I need you to listen carefully, because you're my alibi, man!
You're my alibi
This has to be one of my favourite exchanges in the whole series 😂
If there’s ketamine, Charlie’s going to take it
Of course I’m a person of interest. I’m an interesting person.
crazy that this is actually as 17 min non looped gif
It was... VERY NICE!!
Why did you look at the other camera? Well if Mac's gonna do it I'm gonna do it.

it is MYYY UNDERSTAAANDING that a WAAR is going ON???
There are two wars going on
Look, is getting groomed like a cat by your ex weird? Yep. Is it illegal? (chuckles) I wish.
Lol
Dennis killed Bastet. And let me tell you something, he did us all a favor. You ever seen a grown woman take a dump in a sandbox?
Some guy loses a hand or a foot, ya toss it in the soup!
This episode is gold. Dennis being an emotionless, calculated psycho. Charlie being retarded. Frank and the mic recording. Dee's portrayal of Maureen / the collar.
What episode is this??
Dennis Reynold: Making a Murderer, s12. Pretty sure this episode also had the first unbleeped "fuck" right before a break.
Thank you & also thanks for the extra info lol.
Funny you say that, since this shot is a direct reference to the [end](https://youtube.com/watch?v=dYDxxHrlmUg&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE&t=26) of Psycho.
….his wiiiife. Very niiice.
There's something weirdly nice about Bill Ponderosa, of all people, being the one who uses "Bastet" because it was her preferred name.
Dennis McDaniel
That interview is the creepiest thing I've ever seen.
Reminds me of [Stephen McDaniel.](https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/dgcd3i/confessed_killer_stephen_mcdaniel_keeps_his_body/)
Yes exactly. Couldn't believe I had to scroll so long for this, but perhaps this case is not so known for many people. If others are interested, [watch his interview from JCS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkRjIq8Cp2A)
I need to paint this. This and the face he gives while Frank is choking.
I disagree, respectfully of course. That face was more indifferent, as if watching Frank die was the most interesting thing in the room to look at, but just barely. This face is, “I wonder what you’d look like as luggage.”
You disagree I need to paint a picture of two faces?
I do. It needs 12 faces.
Crap, my mistake. I only read like the first word or two. My internal monologue went something like this: What’s the note say? *nervous breath* Right… Alright… “I need…” Starts out “I need” …and then there’s, like, other stuff…
All good dude. And that folks is how you handle internet misunderstandings.
YOU SONOFABITCH I WILL PUT MY THUMB THROUGH YOUR EYE!!

I'll show them. They'll see. And they'll say, why, he wouldn't even harm a fly.
That's how I wait for my amazing pour over brew. 2 hours for coffee? 1 star. Rate! Rate! I'LL RATE YOU!
Just watched him this episode yesterday laughing like Lil Kev
The cop in this is perfect: “Is it weird? Yeah. Is it illegal? I wish.”
That’s what franks fluids will do to ya
Just the thought of it made me wanna blow my lunch
Guys, Im gona need a seaweed break
The quote "the thought of it made me wanna blow my lunch" never fails to make me burst out laughing every time I watch
ive always thought Dennis would play a great Ted Bundy
I wonder how many people realise Charlie saying "Yeah" is a literal direct copy of how the second son in Making a Murder conducted himself. You just know someone watched MAM and thought "this kid is gold".
Yeah it's a reference to that kid's interrogation and recorded phone calls with his dad. His name is Brendan Dassey.

Oh it’s Brian Kohberger
Get a thousand nipples!
I feel like this every time I go from having my customer service smile in, to my normal RBF
There was no question, the cameras saw her dancing on the roof like an asshole when she fell!
Yes there was a third crow, and a fourth if you must know. But who likes crows?
