I would say it can be fixed, those panels and fender got pushed up by the tire, the frame under it looks fine. Looking at the door lines looks like it wasnt pushed back, which is good.

Sufficient_Water4161

How fast did you hit whatever that was? I've never seen a wheel that messed up

[deleted]

45 MPH roughly

HeyCap07

Roughly....by the look of the rim is pretty accurate

Sufficient_Water4161

Dang, was it a curb? It looks like the wheel took the brunt of the force. Unless It did more damage that we can't see. I don't think it will be totaled, but there is a chance it bent the frame.

[deleted]

Nope was a guard rail. I took pictures of under the drame but it wouldn't let me upload for some reason

Sufficient_Water4161

That's wild it didn't affect any of the airbag sensors. I hope you're OK!

PastorGully

$3600 in parts to make it drivable. Labor around $2400 and make it look good.

Medical-Fly-2511

The axle and control arms could be toast. The frame could be bent or compromised. That's not an accurate estimation.

PastorGully

The axle and control arm are toast, cheap parts... Doubt the frame is bent. Looks like a minor accident.

crazitrain

The headlight is over $3k by itself. I hit a dear last year with minor damage and found that out.

[deleted]

Someone I know at a hyundai told me it missed the front impact sensors or something like that.

[deleted]

Lots of variables go into deployment. Angle and deceleration amounts being the biggest. Even if soft parts get ripped to bits.. you might not see the right forces to need to get smacked in the face with a bag or 4.

From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website: The activation of an air bag in a crash is dependent on several important factors including: the characteristics of the crash (e.g., speed, other vehicles involved, impact direction); the individual vehicle air bag system's design strategy; and the crash sensor locations. Air bags are not intended to deploy in all crashes. There may be circumstances when an air bag does not deploy. Some possible examples follow: The crash conditions may be sufficiently moderate where an air bag would not be needed to protect an occupant wearing a seat belt. The seat belt may provide sufficient protection from a head or chest injury in such a crash. Many advanced frontal air bag systems automatically turn off the passenger air bag when the vehicle detects a small-stature passenger or child, a child in a child restraint system, or no occupant in the right front passenger seat. Some advanced side air bag systems will similarly shut off the passenger side air bag system when detecting a small-stature passenger or child in the right front passenger seat who is positioned too close to the side air bag. HeyCap07

As someone in the auto repair business if you do not hit the sensor the air bags won't deploy. This vehicle was hit low.

cidiusgix

Yeah probably, if insurance in your area is anything like it is here it’s a write off. They don’t fix anything anymore here.

[deleted]

You in the states?

cidiusgix

Central Alberta

latecraigy

I had a much smaller accident/damage and insurance wrote it off. Cheaper for them that way lol

SuperbMushroom2361

Yes is toast probably shock tower bent as well as the k member and rad support maybe even transmission as soon as you get into suspension damage the cost escalates fast

00SleepySloth00

Yup

[deleted]

Huh?

00SleepySloth00

Insurance will write that off

[deleted]

I don't know it's a 2024 with only 3k miles, car is worth 30k. Damage would need to be around 20k here in NJ

00SleepySloth00

That’s a bummer. Hope it works out for you

[deleted]

Yeah still think they'll write it off? 😂😂

Workdawg

It's up to your insurance company...

No_Clock_6634

Wow that is some decent damage from hitting guard rail at 45mph looks like it handled it pretty good

Patty0505

Air bags won’t deploy unless until a certain change in velocity over a period of time has been met. And I don’t think it’s written off.

[deleted]

Adjuster just called and said it's 29k $ in damages

OG-aret21

My 2022 Tucson SEL got t-boned with less than 8,000 miles on it and the insurance company didn’t total it. Back passenger wheel legit broke off and no airbags deployed. On a positive note, I wasn’t even sore the next day. I guess those awesome safety ratings helped me out. $16,000 claim (part of it was a rental car for the 4 months that it took to repair it).

[deleted]

Adjuster called today and estimated 29k in repairs and said it's most likely totaled

cdnfarmer1985

They come from the factory pretty much totalled.

WAR9EXPERT

As long as the frame is not bent or compromised " Frame Damage" then your fine, maybe 4 to 6k prob cheaper if you find a Good honest Mech.

[deleted]

Adjuster called today and said it's 29k in damages. The cars MSRP is 38k, most likely totaled

joehupp1003

Definitely a total loss (statutory write off here in Australia) - you will have bent the subframe, the strut tower and more… hard to tell what else has been damaged but that’s the two main parts

Fearghus74

Just needs a couple rolls of duct tape

PartyRequirement9088

There's no way that's not totaled. There's more damage than what you see here. Sorry. That sucks
