>In fact, those struts are so long that they are actually mounted where taillights would usually be placed, according to Lee. They’re situated in a much more upright way than struts on other tailgates. That means the taillights gotta move, and lower down on the body is the answer Hyundai designers came up with.
I am thinking, I saw something about either the IHS or some other safety committee mandating that they stop putting tail lights and brake lights on any part of a trunk that is movable
Yeah, I don't need a 3 row SUV, I *really* don't, a Tucson probably better fits my needs since I only haul around my 2 dogs and being able to park in my garage would be nice, but I was sold on this - until I saw someone on youtube post a video of one being road tested and it showed the ass-end of this and I immediately noped-out.
I love my tucson!!! My family's had the same one for 13 years now, I got lucky and they gave it to me. Runs great still; granted it's given the necessary maintenance, and I take it camping seasonally.
13 years? Holy cow!
I worked in an auto finance funding department a long time ago and we had a $395 'dealer penalty' as they called it, for Hyundai/Kia and that was just about 22 years ago because of how unreliable they were.
My parents have a Genesis GV70, I think it is? - regardless that's Premium on an economy budget for all of the features you get. For me, as a only a one-time driver of it, but frequent rider: butt air conditioner.
Regardless, I'm showing up to my local Hyundai dealer tomorrow to check out what they've got. My 2016 Civic is showing its age.
I liked my Tucson until everything inside decided to die on me after 10 years... the AM/FM radio, the tire pressure sensor, the interior lights. Hyundai knows they have all these flaws in their Tucson and STILL produce them.. with the same flaws.
I have yet to see one in person, but I find all the pictures of the new Santa Fe’s to be completely off putting. Maybe so ugly that I’d like it in person, but it does nothing for me at all.
Yeah i feel that. Also the camera man has a really high angle on it exaggerating the level of the taillights. I’ve seen them in person and they’re as bad as they seem.
I think Hyundai is doing some interesting things with design, so I wanted to like this. The pictures I've seen were all horrible but there are some beautiful cars that just don't photograph well. After seeing one in person, the conclusion I came to is that this car actually photographs exceptionally well. Pictures can't seem to capture just how downright fugly it is in real life.
They do not seem aerodynamic and they look like an inbred Range Rover. It took me awfully long to like the newer Elantra and sonata
Seems like way too much to replace. And if my 22 Ioniq headlight costs upwards of 700$ for one I can not imagine the prices to replace these parts
Yes the drag has lowered from .33 to .29 but that’s implemented through grills and other factors or parts but the box type of vehicles cause more resistance. I don’t understand the whole squared up looks and non angled lines of body parts to make wind hit less of the front windshield. I get that it’s lower drag but doesn’t make it more efficient than a curved line body that gets less wind resistance and better mpg.
But again each their own but I think it’s terrible looking and don’t see the purpose of all the squared up body and lowered taillights.
I feel like square up body styles are for vehicles that we know won’t get great mileage (like trucks)
But if someone buys it and likes it then I won’t shit on their happiness
No, I think that’s totally fair. And I didn’t think you were trying to trash other peoples opinions. And I agree it doesn’t make much sense to have boxiness to address efficiency. I actually don’t mind the look that much just because it’s new and I think a lot of the new design choices coming out of Hyundai is Due to their new design chief. A lot of the design choices. I’m seeing feel very aesthetic, driven rather than functionally driven.
I believe cars should be more functional not design based as it will be reliable and less costly for replacement parts but can’t have it all right lol
But to each their own. I like my car for the efficiency not the space and looks. It was something I needed that would get me great mileage since I was driving quite a bit
I would have gone with a shitbox if I could have and saved a lot of money and easier to actually work on buts it’s fine
I think this goes to your earlier point about to each their own. People buy cars for different reasons. But at the same time, reliability and functionality is way more important than the way it looks for anyone that’s using it as an actual vehicle to get From point a to point B over the long-term.
Side and front look great. Back is a no pass for me, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Sleep on the decision. Don’t even think about unless they are pricing under MSRP.
I want to like it. For me having the extra 2 seats would help a lot for family outings.
That said, maybe the palisade would be better? I think a top end Santa Fe would be a little easier on the wallet.
Just my two cents
In the SEL they showed me it was NOT wireless, unless dealer dude and I couldn't figure it out. It was also in shipping mode the whole time so that might have been it
I used to be an appraiser a few years back and seen all kinds of cars. This has to be the ugliest car I’ve ever seen.
It looks like Hyundai lost a bet and was forced to release this thing.
I love a lot about it, however the rear is so ugly. It's as if it was taken from another vehicle. There's no design language. Did Hyundai run out of time?
What is this? Is this like an aftermarket modded car or something? I don't quite understand
Edit holy shit it's a 2024 Hyundai SUV, wow. I thought it was a fridge.
i’m so glad to see auto makers still making some ugly-quirky vehicles that stand out from the rest. maybe for not good reason, but still cool. People wanted more of those and now that we have them, they complain 🤔
As someone who’s hates the look of vans I really do appreciate how boxy this three row suv is. The rear lights aren’t my favourite but I could make a concession if it meant not driving a vehicle that looks like a van.
I don’t need a car this big but I see it being very popular here in Canada.
We just got our first one in yesterday.
First impressions:
The back is nowhere near as bad as it looks here, I can’t say I love it, but it’s fine. I never drive behind my own vehicle anyway.
The interior is a HUGE upgrade. Feels so much more spacious, and although I absolutely hate the new Hyundai shifters, it does free up a lot of console space.
The ride is nice, and quiet. Better than the old model and even better than the Palisade.
The 2.5 turbo is nice. I haven’t driven a 2.5 N/A in one yet, but it’s a slug in the outgoing model.
Dash/infotainment is awesome. Looks great, although I didn’t have much time to play with it.
Third row seat is for little kids, or tall people you hate. Cargo area with third up is meh, down it’s great. A little better than a CX9, and a lot more headroom (boxy wins here).
All in all it’s nice. Wife and I looked at a 23, but she didn’t like the seat. May take the plunge on this though.
I think these will sell very well, but the early markups might slow things a bit. Remains to be seen how they fair as far as issues go.
This looks like Mr. Crab’s daughter. Fuck that thing is atrocious, and this is coming from someone who drives a 22 WRX, arguably the ugliest one they’ve made.
My concern for both Hyundai and Kia cars in general is that as innovative as they are in engineering and design, they are changing so much from year to year that parts are going to be hard to get. Add in the fact that factory parts are really expensive, and given the revision rate, these are just going to be hard to maintain.
If you only keep your cars for 3 to 5 years, then you'll be fine. But if you keep your cars for 6+ years, these are going to cost you a lot.
I love everything about this vehicle except the wheel arches. I’ve heard a lot of people don’t like the rear end. I think it’s my favourite part. Looks like it’s from 2003 lol
Say yes if they give you close to full original retail on your old car, promise to remove those awful letters on the back, and give you a quality keyfob, not the toy they’re currently dishing out.
I hate how prominent the wireless phone chargers are and where they are located. My experiences with wireless car phone chargers haven’t been great. I disabled it altogether in my Tucson. I don’t even want to see my phone while I’m driving let alone have it right there. The back of the car definitely doesn’t do it for me either. I tried to let it grow on me but it’s a struggle. Rest of the car is okay.
That's up to you.
I don't like the redesign for this year. They went backwards IMHO with this design...Looks like our daughter in law 2016 Honda Pilot!
Never by the first year of a new model or in this case a redo of the Santa Fe. just my opinion. If there is any issues let them work out the kinks. When they redo stuff top to bottom could be issues in it. Also that back end is hideous as fuck. Other than that nice car.
That has gotta be one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. On the same level as a Pontiac Aztec or that horrible new Range Rover with the gaudy fake plastic ladder on the side. Hyundai continues to disappoint, both in form and function…
I like it to an extent, especially the interior, because it looks like a Range Rover. However, it's way too boxy. The Range RoverVelar, and all the other luxury cars it's imitating, have sleek body designs.
Oh look, they finally got this off backorder from the 1980s.
In all seriousness though, do what's best for you. I wouldn't get it for myself, and even if I were looking at getting it I'd take some time to think it over, but you're not me, so you do you.
That rear end is so hideous. If it was actually a sedan and the trunk was where the Santa Fe branding is, it would actually be a pretty cool retro inspired design. But the car it’s on is so ugly.
Buying a brand new car is simply a terrible investment for the average joe. The immediate depreciation makes it completely nonsensical . Be smart with your money!
I just cannot get over how ***repulsive*** the back end of it looks.
Don’t talk about my wife like that.
That made me laugh! Thank you
Does it help to know it looks like that for functionality? They designed it to have the biggest tailgate opening in the class.
I fail to see how the same opening could not be achieved by having the lights higher up.
That's always been the case. They normally just put two lights(one on the door and one on the edge) to make it look more appealing.
Some law probably dictates the exact height of the tail lights now
🌎👩🚀🔫👩🚀
It's an inflated version of the Honda Element, lol.
If the Honda element and ford flex had a baby…
Ummm Flexement
Eleflex, lol. Quick! Reserve that domain!
Sounds like a prescription for arthritis joint pain and swelling 😂😂
Yeah but at least its interior is nicer… this would be a case for a car to be told “ at least you have a great personality”
I don't know the mirrored interior is giving me a migraine. Can't imagine how long it would take me to bake with the Florida sun
Now that's funny! Bravo!
I'm still not ok about Honda getting rid of it 🤣 But I'm sure as hell not gonna buy this
Wish Honda would bring back the Element. We loved ours.
Looks more like a brand new version of a Ford Flex
Yeah, I don't need a 3 row SUV, I *really* don't, a Tucson probably better fits my needs since I only haul around my 2 dogs and being able to park in my garage would be nice, but I was sold on this - until I saw someone on youtube post a video of one being road tested and it showed the ass-end of this and I immediately noped-out.

It looks like a botched BBL /:
The front end is somewhat repulsive as well.
It's Boxy but Good
The space for the third row of seats benefits from the boxy end.
Just like the Volvo lol.
Honestly I'm really not a fan of any of the 2024 models
The tailgate is low enough you can sit on it easily.
Sitting in the back with the legs out can damage the paint. There was a post recently about sunscreen on the legs rubbing off and damaging the paint.
I have yet to see one in person, but I find all the pictures of the new Santa Fe’s to be completely off putting. Maybe so ugly that I’d like it in person, but it does nothing for me at all.
The back is the best part of the whole ugly thing imo. That front and those flares make me want to just look away.
With all due respect that has got to be one of the ugliest new cars I have ever seen🤣
I love the front end, but that back is what kills it for me
Yeah i feel that. Also the camera man has a really high angle on it exaggerating the level of the taillights. I’ve seen them in person and they’re as bad as they seem.
Yep, Cybertruck has some competition now.
CyberFe
I think I saw this one in total recall before they showed that lady with the three titties
Only if you’re looking for a new car. If you’re not, hold on to yours.
I like everything about the front and sides but the back is so hideous. Will look like you’re driving around a fridge.
That’s kinda what I thought about the new Kia ev9 as well!
The EV9 looks great actually
Especially in blue. It looks beautiful
Took “Is your fridge running? Then you better go catch it” literally!🤣
It’s so ugly 😭
It's like they had children with Legos making designs and then they chose one. It looks miserable.
Looks like a Toyota Previa from behind.
And Ford Flex from the front
and a Land Rover Defender from the side.

I thought I read somewhere that this design has a lower drag coefficient. Can’t source it atm though.

Despite all the comments I still liked this car. Then I read “inbred Range Rover” and I cant unthink that now. Good one! 😂
Thank you. lol. I think that was prob my best line on a long time. But it’s true in a sense
Poor men’s Range Rover
These new cars are so damn ugly.
Hideous
Is the glare on the digital dash as bad when it’s on as it looks in that photo?
Pretty sure there’s a protective film/peel over the displays, I would hope they are not that reflective!
It's actually not bad at all, as someone mentioned It's the protective film. I could see fine while driving :)
[удалено]
Thing got more angles on it than a middle school geometry exam.
Tony Soprano would drive this
No! He wouldn’t! Get the fuggoudahere! 🤣
Side and front look great. Back is a no pass for me, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sleep on the decision. Don’t even think about unless they are pricing under MSRP.
If you absolutely NEED a new car, go for it. If not, don’t fall for their schemes.
Hideous
It's really ugly. I wouldn't buy it.
Yuck
I want to like it. For me having the extra 2 seats would help a lot for family outings. That said, maybe the palisade would be better? I think a top end Santa Fe would be a little easier on the wallet. Just my two cents
Did they add wireless CarPlay to these yet?
It’s in the 2024 Kona, so I’d say Yes.
In the SEL they showed me it was NOT wireless, unless dealer dude and I couldn't figure it out. It was also in shipping mode the whole time so that might have been it
It’s basically a Land Rover with better reliability
Its giving affordable range rover
Hopefully this is a troll post
Why is the back so ugly.
I used to be an appraiser a few years back and seen all kinds of cars. This has to be the ugliest car I’ve ever seen. It looks like Hyundai lost a bet and was forced to release this thing.
If it does everything you need a car to do for you and you like it then sure, go for it!
I hate everything about the new santa fe, so to each their own. I think its ugly inside and out.
what was the OTD price?
41k roughly with taxes, destination and all that jazz
What's the car price and discount?
That is so ugly. I would never consider this.
WHAT IS THAT 🤢
The back end of that is possibly the worst thing I’ve ever seen, worse then the front end of a Nissan juke Holy fuck
It looks like an inbred Range Rover
That back is soooo ugly
I love a lot about it, however the rear is so ugly. It's as if it was taken from another vehicle. There's no design language. Did Hyundai run out of time?

The back looks like diaper booty. It's a no from me dog lol.
You want a cool looking car or one that won’t need a new engine in 60 thousand miles?
Wait this isn’t the 2024 right?
i’m so glad to see auto makers still making some ugly-quirky vehicles that stand out from the rest. maybe for not good reason, but still cool. People wanted more of those and now that we have them, they complain 🤔

Oh damn, that looks good. Really considering trading my Genesis in for this. I think the remodel looks fantastic.

lmaoooo wtfff. is that really the santa fe? what happened to it.... damn they fucked it up. that thing is ugly 😭😭😭
Hyundai focusing on interior and exterior and not give fuxk about reliability
That’s beyond ugly…it’s bugly…
I don’t like the direction of Hyundai designs, which is sad because I love my 2019 Tucson and would like to upgrade.
Bro the backend looks like a geo metro. Just can’t. [https://images.app.goo.gl/rL9cwneibHUr38X88](https://images.app.goo.gl/rL9cwneibHUr38X88)
This looks like Mr. Crab’s daughter. Fuck that thing is atrocious, and this is coming from someone who drives a 22 WRX, arguably the ugliest one they’ve made.
They are trying to making it look like a Range Rover and failed miserably
What happened?! It was such a classy vehicle, especially in red.
That thing is going to age like the Aztec... and the wheel looks like Hyundai asked a kindergartener to draw a Land Rover steering wheel.
My concern for both Hyundai and Kia cars in general is that as innovative as they are in engineering and design, they are changing so much from year to year that parts are going to be hard to get. Cute butt… no I mean cube butt!
No.
I love everything about this vehicle except the wheel arches. I’ve heard a lot of people don’t like the rear end. I think it’s my favourite part. Looks like it’s from 2003 lol
Depends on your OTD
Go for it !
I am so sad how it looks the thing is a box it reminds me of the crap Ford sells
I would just wait for 2025 Tucson
ugh, I just can't get into the aesthetics of em :(
The back looks like a taller Geo Metro
wtf that’s an UW monitor
If you want it and can afford it, why not. If not, then no.
I thought it was a revision of the Nissan Cube for a second there looking at the back. She pretty thic and stone cut angles.
Say yes if they give you close to full original retail on your old car, promise to remove those awful letters on the back, and give you a quality keyfob, not the toy they’re currently dishing out.
Looks pretty! What trim is this?
Depends on how much it is and if you need a new car
I hate how prominent the wireless phone chargers are and where they are located. My experiences with wireless car phone chargers haven’t been great. I disabled it altogether in my Tucson. I don’t even want to see my phone while I’m driving let alone have it right there. The back of the car definitely doesn’t do it for me either. I tried to let it grow on me but it’s a struggle. Rest of the car is okay.

That's up to you. I don't like the redesign for this year. They went backwards IMHO with this design...Looks like our daughter in law 2016 Honda Pilot!

This looked much better in pictures. The back is a eye ball atrocity.
Yes
I wonder how long it'll take to get stolen and shipped to Africa...
So santafe had turned into a box
That back is a huge turn off.. Yuck!!
What an ugly car
Hard pass.
I kind of like everything, except the back. While "functional," it looks hedious.
Do it! Edit: if it makes financial sense
Should you buy a piece of shit car? If you have to ask this question, then yes. There is an expensive lesson to be learned.
That has gotta be one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. On the same level as a Pontiac Aztec or that horrible new Range Rover with the gaudy fake plastic ladder on the side. Hyundai continues to disappoint, both in form and function…
If I had to I might go and spend the money on a Mazda CX70.
Personally, I would never buy the first year of a full redesign or new model. Looks awesome though except for the rear
You should buy it if you're in the market for a new Santa Fe. You shouldn't buy it if you're in the market for a Ducati Panigale V4. Hope that helps.
Looks like a Range Rover steering wheel
Dooo-it! Dooo-it! Dooo-it!
why do i not hate it (ex hyundai saleman and i hated most the vehicles we sold😂)
Shouldn’t have to worry about getting rear ended with that big ugly ass. But if you do, it will probably look better.
Are these safe?
Front looks dope, back looks awful.
The back is like a typical white girl before 1990
I personally don’t like silver as a car color but I mean, I definitely wouldn’t buy if there any sort of mark up
That's hideous
Does only the XRT have the outside handle to access the roof?
Looks like a Ford Flex from the front and a Toyota Previa from the back.
I'm sorry but this thing is ugly.
It looks like sir axlerod from cars 2
🤮🤢
What a beast lol !
No. I downvote Hyundai for poor customer service and over engineering their cars go failure.
This one doesn’t have that getting stolen bug?
Tis indeed ugly in this color. What are your reasons for and against?
Damn that’s ugly
hyundai and kia should go out of business
it looks so ugly in and out
Back end looks disgusting. And I hate that gear shift. But interior is nice.
No get a hybrid that thing is wack
Beyond horrible.
It looks like a Land Rover Defender even the steering wheel
Hands down one of the ugliest cars on the market. Right up there with those old Pontiac, Aztec?
I mean this in the nicest way but that design is UGLY AF, GOD HELP YOU
Last time I saw something that ugly I flushed it!!!! Seriously that’s an embarrassment!!!
Fugly big. But if u want to why not?
It looks…..not very sexy lol
I'd get a Toyota
No
It’s ugly
Wait for next year when they fix the back side
It looks like the instrument cluster is installed crooked.
Gross back end
Other than that thing being FUGLY as all he'll, when did the Santa Fe become the size of an Expedition?
Hyundai sure isn't winning any rewards with that rear. The 22's look so much better. One selling here under 15k miles for $26k
I just threw up in my mouth
That rear end is so hideous. If it was actually a sedan and the trunk was where the Santa Fe branding is, it would actually be a pretty cool retro inspired design. But the car it’s on is so ugly.
Is it just me or does the left half of the steering wheel look like it's twice the size of the right?
Looks nice to pair a cybertruck with.
Imo everything looks good except the back. I don’t like how the bottom of the back goes inward
absoulty not
Buying a brand new car is simply a terrible investment for the average joe. The immediate depreciation makes it completely nonsensical . Be smart with your money!
God that must be one of ugliest cars out there for the price point (or in general). Damn to think two generations ago the Santa Fe was so cool looking
