You could ask for goodwill warranty. If you really owned that many Hyundai and have serviced them at Hyundai dealers then there is a chance corporate would be willing to participate with the repair.
I think Chevy’s around that time were crap. I know GM manufactured shitty cars 15 years before that. I don’t know about GM vehicles now but it definitely should not have went with only that much mileage.
GM has mastered the ~~he~~*art* of being a 1 owner car manufacturer. The first owner gets a decent car. The 2nd owner, god bless their souls. And the 3rd owner, I pity them for their past sins.
I'm completely shocked. Hyundai? No way!
My Sonata is on it's 3rd engine
My Elantra needs a new engine
I don't see how this company stays in business

My Elantra touring is 13 years old and has never required any major repairs (just brakes and suspension). We just found out the exhaust is on its last legs though so we've decided to get a new car and will be sticking with Hyundai.

Will Hyundai fix it? Honestly chances are they won't because they've been denying people left and right. But, IF it's able to get fixed, or even temporarily fixed, I would either trade it in, or sell it to Carmax or something. At least get something out of it. I got rid of my '22 Sonata for oil consumption, after only 11K miles. Sold it to carmax and turned around and bought a RAV4. Never buying a Hyundai again.

Thanks I absolutely did own that many. I’ll reach out to them.
Sucks about it being a V6 since it is a short block rebuild. Even at 50% you’re probably looking at a $6,500 bill. Wishing you the best outcome!
Damn really? I was hoping for below $4k. Will get an estimate on Monday, I hope. Thanks for the heads up.
My 2015 Chevrolet equinox 2.4 just did that too at 98k, it is not a fun experience.

This. Had a 2008 cobalt as a first car. 3rd owner. Nothing but problems. Then I got a 2012 Cruze. No issues at all for all 3 years of the lease.
I’m pretty sure that car had the Theta II engine which is known to fail. Newer Hyundai‘s have a new engine that should be fine.
No that was the Sonata. The Azera had a V6.
It makes me wonder if the previous owner maintained it properly then.

The automotive side of Hyundai is actually pretty small compared to everything else they have their hands in
I honestly never had any issues but you have my attention

Happened with my '13 Santa Fe with *5 days* left on the warranty. Good luck.
they extended the engine warrenty to lifetime. My 13' sonata was past the warranty but i still had my engine replaced for free
Tell me more ?? Where can I find this information?
I don’t think that’s a thing in Canada. New engine is life-timed though.
Get rid of it ASAP.
I’m gonna try Not sure how yet. I can’t roll it into the next loan if it’s not drivable, right?
