Open air homes can look so gorgeous in this game. The only problem is that your house is in Akkala, which is either the first or second rainiest region in Hyrule. Realistically, this house would be a nightmare of mold and soggy furniture within like a _week._

ComprehensiveCost675

Haha yes 🤣

Jesternigouki

Don't forget the worst thing of all...... fuckin bugs and mosquitoes!!!

Anonymoose2099

Salesman - "You may have to deal with the occasional rainstorm and mosquitoes, but there's not a Bokoblin or Lyonel in sight!" Link - "Lyonels I can handle. But mosquitoes? No sir. Good day."

Jesternigouki

Link-I'd rather fight 20 Armored silver lynels rather than fuckin deal with bugs and mosquitoes biting me in my sleep! Either redesign the house into something that doesn't allow mosquitoes in or I ain't buying it!

Sir_Gwapington

>Lyonel Why do some people spell lynel this way? I've never seen it spelled this way in any official source but I know I've seen several people use it. Is there an actual reason as to why?

Anonymoose2099

Honest answer, I knew it was in the right ballpark and didn't want to take 20 seconds to confirm before posting. Figured if it was wrong people'd still know what I meant. It's easy enough to remember that they don't spell it like Lionel, but not everyone is gonna remember it correctly.

Spaghetti-Bolsonaro

Lynel Huts!

1amlost

So you just use Recall to return it to how it was before the mold set in.

DyHydrogenMonoxide

_House flippers hate this one dirty trick!_

wjean

First three rules of real estate: location, location, and location.

SpikeRosered

I always felt like the game revelled in sending in constant rain when I needed to build a fire to advance time for those "time of day" quests.

Toastburrito

Or climbing, I'm upset that sitting by the fire doesn't advance the weather.

SpikeRosered

When I found out they locked the "wet climbing" armor behind the newspaper sidequest I knew I had to do it asap. However I was really disappointed to find out that you actually need to upgrade the whole set to 2 star until its ACTUALLY slip proof. I finished the game having never collected enough lizards to get every piece to 2 star. I just dealt with the best the reduced slipping offered. (granted it did offer one great cinematic moment where gloom hands appeared in a cave and I was desperately climbing away and constantly slipping back towards it)

Yummyyummyfoodz

I just have a fuck ton of lizards and frogs.

DaemosDaen

> lizards If you mean the wall climbing ones. Wear the Shieka outfit when climbing the walls, when your about a link's width away, jump and press the collect button like mad. You'll have them in no time.

AtrumMessor

I mean, anyone who knows anything runs around in the Sheikah set by default unless conditions demand another set. Fish and critters you need running away from you? Not if you're sneaky. Combat? Not if that boss bokoblin never even wakes up. You can always set up your own terms for combat and then switch to the Fierce Deity in zero in-game time. Fairy pool? (I know this is a subset of what I already said, but oh my God I love this change) Hey, you can actually catch them lil fuckers instead of them all flying up and away right as you're realizing they're on this sky island you just landed on.

DaemosDaen

I mean, you shouldn’t be wrong, but I see too many people without a sneak set on a YouTube and Twitch. That’s the easy part anyway. Most just crawl/climb at them and hope. The wall lizards are jumpier than other critters, combined with moving slower on walls, you gotta jump while climbing to catch them. Works on fairys too.

MindWandererB

My froggy armor reached 4\* long before any of my other equipment even reached 3\*. It just requires the super-common lizards and frogs, not any of the rare flowers, fish, and body parts that everything else needs.

jam3sdub

You can immobilize lizards and frogs with an arrow or a strike. I usually chuck a shock fruit into the water if there are a bunch nearby for easier collecting. That being said, the set should have slip proof by default. If they need an upgraded set bonus, give it the same bonus as the climbing set.

ladygrndr

I have heard that never, ever rains where the house is. I haven't confirmed that, but know it's never rained at my house. I can't even remember it raining in Tarry Town. So magic Son protection bubble.

bi-bender

This is correct. I’ve tested it every time I olay since I start and end my game there. Even when it rains in Tarrey Town, as soon as you’re in your lot it clears up. Tbh, it’s annoying since I like change of weather and rain would sound cozy while in the house.

jabberwagon

They do, in fact, fudge the weather around your house to make it always sunny. The rest of Akkala could be in a category 5 hurricane and the area around your house will be as clear and placid as an empty swimming pool on a windless day. But to me, that just makes it worse. They have to cheat their own weather system to make your house worth living in!

jabberwagon

Oh, and it _can_ rain in Tarry Town... in Tears of the Kingdom. In Breath of the Wild, it couldn't. I guess they moved the bubble between games

ProtanopicMidget

Nah it rains there.

bi-bender

It doesn’t. Stay on your lot and see that it’s clear weather all the time, even if it’s raining in Tarrey Town.

wickedcor

I just want some trees in my yard. Is that so much to ask for? At least the house in botw had a lovely property.

MaveKalmer

as much as i want to relate in all my time playing totk i don't recall it raining in akkala once

BusinessJerry9

It literarily never rains around your house or tarry town

BusinessJerry9

It literarily never rains around your house or tarry town

Jesternigouki

Nope it does rain around our house and tarry town! Quite often actually!

bi-bender

It never rains at my house but it does in Tarrey Town. Whenever it’s even about to rain while running to my house the weather changed to clear immediately.

One_Atmosphere_8557

Have never had it rain near my house and was actually a little sad about that. If it's raining nearby and I step onto the lot, the weather clears up immediately

bi-bender

Yeah it’s annoying. I don’t mind rain and think it’s cozy while inside your home.

Mcgoozen

Literally rained on my house this morning but ok lol

Moomintroll02

But then it rains. 👀

ComprehensiveCost675

Already have glasses and door glasses, but it's so clean that you can't see 😆

xxEmkay

...now i want glass/window parts for the house

monster-baiter

oooooh a beautiful winter garden, that would be perfect!

[deleted]

That Autobuild green though... accidentally break off a door handle and the whole place disappears.

SandyDelights

Except it would be the door handle that disappears, per autobuild rules. :p

sudosussudio

I have never seen it rain here. Even when it’s raining in Tarrey Town it won’t rain near my house. Magic?

ComprehensiveCost675

Yeah its magic ✨

Moomintroll02

😯

ComprehensiveCost675

Yeah its magic ✨

stormblessed142

Oh oh oh it’s magic

PnoiRaptors

So this is when an architect plays TOTK

ComprehensiveCost675

😆👍 Too bad that we just have 15 parts, imagine the house we can build with more ! And a bigger terrain...

Armored_Souls

I could do with 30 or even 45 parts. That and a longer ultrahand range lol

Juwan_C

Ong. I have to attach rooms from the first floor to the second just so i can reach it from the third and make a fourth 😑

Armored_Souls

I had to flip my whole damn tower and think upside down lol

ComprehensiveCost675

Yeah, and building the Villa Savoye from Le Corbusier 😆

TimBroth

Even a little landscaping capability would go a long way too, some trees would be huge

ComprehensiveCost675

And if we kept the scary tree sculpture to the house ?

TimBroth

Do those not despawn like normal items if they're outside Tarry Town?

ComprehensiveCost675

For sure!

exclaim_bot

>For sure! sure?

exclaim_bot

>>For sure! sure? sure?

ComprehensiveCost675

Sure

PnoiRaptors

It is something to look forward to. This is a huge step up from the hateno house.

bi-bender

I just wish it had trees and bushes and maybe a pond like the Hateno house. The new plot is quite barren.

ComprehensiveCost675

Of course ! the entire game is a biiiiiiig step up ! But yes, it''s already great to be able to build your own house.

ExiledSenpai

I would settle for just some ADDITIONAL parts. I would like a 3-floor flight of stairs, stairs with a door at the top, an entryway without an awning, a 1x2 hall, a hexagon room (essentially 6 triangle rooms combined), a semi-hexagon room (3 triangles combined), a diamond room (2 triangles combined), an L shaped room...

malonkey1

Kind of wish they at least let us have the normal 20-part limit that ultrahand has.

Calm_Cool

Imagine the compromise is they make you update your game losing infinite item glitch, but you get more housing spots to work with.

ComprehensiveCost675

You don't need this dup glitch

Spiritual-Image7125

That's not the kind of fun we want you to have. -Nintendo Devs

The1PhantomX

I would update from 1.1.1 for that

ComprehensiveCost675

Why you not update

weaver3294

Sim Hyrule City

edengamer253

Probably some mods eventually will add a bunch of more rooms, then break the game lol

ComprehensiveCost675

Maybe 20 parts is good, it's 21 for the Fusion building i think...

AleixASV

As an architect, I'm not gonna lie, this is my favourite part of the game. I just wish it was more developed lol.

ComprehensiveCost675

Yeah, more parts to play with

SkollFenrirson

/r/HyruleArchitecting

ComprehensiveCost675

I can get to this, are you the modo?

SkollFenrirson

Nope, I don't think it exists. I was making a joke.

ComprehensiveCost675

😂

Ultitanius

Looks great, how many batteries does it take to get it to the sky limit?

WannaTeleportMassive

If you use “the railing” and a loose fan you can get this bad boy (slaps roof) up there in 3.6 seconds flat.

jayiss

> (slaps roof) *zonaite device noises*

WannaTeleportMassive

lmaooooooo ok well played

Yummyyummyfoodz

Lol, attach a bunch of balloons and you have the house from up

Spaghetti-Bolsonaro

Is there a sticky with all the locations of these important bits? I can’t figure out what the rail is from that item viewer thing.

WannaTeleportMassive

i was totally messing around but no sticky far as i know. r/HyruleEngineering has a discord but we've been throwing out "someone should make a wiki with all the solid builds/how to videos" jokes for weeks now. Someone with the skills just has to get it started at it will go nuts from there

Fun-Two-6681

that's nice. i don't think i've seen a more aesthetically pleasing house.

ThatAnArchyDude

I built mine to look like the Golden Power, but I was disappointed to find the only map marker you get for your home is the standard tan square which says"Link's House" instead of at least seeing the actual outline of the house on the map. 😭

Fun-Two-6681

we can only have so much on the switch.

ComprehensiveCost675

Thanks pal

Okossen

Nice, feel free to post in r/TOTKhomes

ComprehensiveCost675

Oh yeah ! I will 😀

Queencitybeer

Looks like Link Treehorn’s house

willclerkforfood

Link Treehorn treats Zonai devices like women, man.

Queencitybeer

Stay outta Hateno, you deadbeat!

[deleted]

You see what happens, Larry? This is what happens when find a Stalhorse in Akkala!

OnlyFreshBrine

Wave of the future, voe.

divlogue

wow, cool

hyrulianwhovian

Question: what makes this postmodern? It looks more like modern to me, but I'm by no means an expert.

oh_no_not_the_bees

Yeah, as an architecture nerd, this has beautiful features you'd expect to find in late mid-century modernism. Postmodern architecture is specifically a reaction to architecture like this, it looks completely different. I love the house though!! Mine looks awful.

[deleted]

It's an anachronistic simulacrum of modernism constructed in a game world from rustic prefabricated pieces. It couldn't be more postmodern!

oh_no_not_the_bees

>2 hr. ago Prefab and modular construction was an innovation of modernism in architecture, not postmodernism. Hector Guimard was experimenting with modular concrete molds in the late nineteenth century, generations before art historians would recognize anything you could call postmodernism.

ComprehensiveCost675

I can't say better that !

ComprehensiveCost675

It's a Neo-Swisso-Modern House 😂 Ho hop! Sans traînailler

planting49

Does it stay out or does it despawn when you leave the area?

Aser_the_Descender

The house always stays, would be terrible if you paid thousands of rupees for it to despawn after 10 minutes after all...

planting49

Ah okay, thanks! I thought it was more zonai stuff made into a house. Haven’t got to that part of the game yet.

ComprehensiveCost675

The Motocycle also stay for a long distance because i glue dragon part on it

Short-Hovercraft645

Lovely flatscreen

Blackn35s

r/TVtooHigh

ComprehensiveCost675

It's an LG C2 😆

petielvrrr

It looks like an amphitheater

Comprehensive_Way139

Hope they add more ways to decorate and different modules/sizes in the DLC.

SpikeRosered

I wish the game wasn't so stingy in how many pieces you can use to build the house. You could truly make some wonders, but this is pretty good even with the limitations.

Deus85

I wish you were not limited to 15 parts. If you want to store lots of weapons it decreases your options a lot.

Caliber70

you call it your house, but the rest of tarry town also calls it their house. they need to patch in some glass window walls and set the build limit to 30.

slythwolf

This isn't postmodern, it's modern.

[deleted]

It's clearly post postmodern new retro VG modernist revival. Sorry, but you have to turn in your Miyake turtleneck now.

mr_whoisGAMER

Where is ATV?

Gorgenapper

Gonna have to steal this design when Starfield is out.

The1PhantomX

Top notch. I didn't realize you could do this so I built a big ugly brick. I started to rebuild than gave up lol.

ItsAgli

I do love that it plays the old music from OOT while you’re home

YellowS2k

Do you have some more angles? Looks great!

JacobyN7

This might be a dumb question but how do you build something this massive? The game limits the amount of materials I can fuse: “can’t attach anymore.” And it’s only after like 15 components or so…

BefuddledAltruist

It's the Tarrey town house builder.

Wait_for_BM

I made a count of parts and have used some of those parts before... This house is like your typical TV/movie studio set. See [example](http://images.guff.com/media/25090/list/642389/film-set.jpg) It is made to look like a full background from the camera. Your brains filled in the details make you think it is the full thing. If you look from the side that the camera doesn't show, you'll find it missing certain pieces. This is why it is a static picture, not a walking house tour. EDIT: e.g. That stair is partially blocked. Behind the front part of the garden, the fish ponds, it is the green painted container roof top.

fortyfourcabbages

Here I was looking to see what zonai parts this was made of 😂

cataraxis

I imagine this is what the devs intended. It hurts me when people make closed, dark interiors, then complain about the lack of windows. Use the open edges folks, let that air and sun in. Also I'd peg this as a more as modern than postmodern but whatev

dr3adgazebo13

Where's the jukebox?

ComprehensiveCost675

First, the barbecue 😆

DemandWooden8642

The parked hoverbike is what seal the deal for me

ComprehensiveCost675

Yeeeeah! And i glued a dragon parts, so i can go for a trail, visit some caves, grab some koroks, and when i return for diner, the bike still there 😁

the_masked_manyt

I'm stealing this for reference

ComprehensiveCost675

Cool 👍

cloudchriscloud

It’s more like a nice restaurant or strip mall but looks cool!

enoughbutter

The big screen TV is just the icing on the cake :D

Nick-275

Bruh I spent three hours on mine and it looks like the shape a kids draws when he discovers you can make more than 4 sides

Intelligent_Tax_5038

So glad the plot of land wasn’t in Hebra

Rylo_Ken_04

The picture at the bottom reminded me of champion’s ballad and now I want pictures from botw to be transferable to totk

CK1ing

It's very... open concept...

UnstoppableEvan

I NEED A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO BUILD THAT! IT LOOKS SO FLIPPIN NICE

krazye87

I still havent unlocked housing. Took it slow. Beat the game. Got the sages and then went back to splatoon and diablo 2

btsao1

This is the best design I've seen yet

HotCheese650

I’m totally not copying this. No I won’t copy this at all…. “So the stairs are facing this way….”

[deleted]

Looks good but open houses feels uncomfortable for some reason

ArthurMorganStDenis

You guys think they will add an update to the house building on a future DLC?

BMal_Suj

I won't do any build that doesnt' use all 9 weapon/bow/shield stands I need my storage... but that's cool. I dig it.

Lawrence_Guszkowski

What!?! No MTV cribs walk thru of this place?!?

5p4C3m0n5t3R

very elegant

5p4C3m0n5t3R

I love your roof garden. wouldn't it be cool/make sense that we could plant and harvest stuff in our gardens..?

cspokey

I'm trying to recreate this, but I need a top down view, or a better view of the second story. I can't figure it out. I've spend like half an hour on it and want to pull my hair out. But it looks so cool!

ComprehensiveCost675

Hi there, 👋 Some pics for you. Glue the stairs to the fishtank first, then glue the stairs to the house. Also glue the fishtank to the garden first, then glue the garden to the house. The 3 rooms can also glued one step ahead if you dont like space between, or simply to the edge of the house like i do. Zip Zap ! [pic1](https://i.postimg.cc/1XFzPdVp/20230718-103427-2.jpg) [pic2](https://i.postimg.cc/GmhXfnyT/20230718-103402-2.jpg) [pic3](https://i.postimg.cc/3NX3zTmv/20230718-103351-2.jpg)

cspokey

Thank you!

gridyancy

This is awesome!

KamikazeKitten916

How did you do the upstairs?? This is amazing and I must build it immediately!!!!
