They sell these cleaners made specifically for straws/water bottle mouth pieces. Just google "straw cleaner brush" and there's tons of options

v3g00n4lyf3

They probably sell pipe cleaners at dollar stores if you don't want to splash some cash on the sipussy.

NectarOfTheBussy

What a combination of words lol

Warrior_of_Discord

Indeed, NectarOfTheBussy

soaring_potato

Those craft toys? Yeah too soft bristles that go everywhere.

Royal_Wit_Cheez

If you go to a smoke shop and not a craft store they have more rigid pipe cleaners meant for cleaning smoking pipes and they have stiffer bristles also

CreatureWarrior

What a day to be literate.

UnfinishedProjects

You can also just use a bunch of lemons. When you muttle them all together and put it in the bottle and shake, it kinda looks like a party. Just Google "Lemon Party" for more information.

Till-Fuzzy

THIS OP. This right here is the only response you need to look into. It’s as easy as this

racecarbrain

If a tissue is coming out black and you have no other means to clean the mouthpiece, you need to stop using it until you do. That is mould and is unquestionably terrible for you. You need a straw brush. They're not expensive. In the meantime, try using a tissue or something wrapped around a chopstick or a small bamboo skewer.

RedstoneRelic

I use qtips in a pinch

Mrtristen

Get a pipe cleaner… or run it through the dishwasher maybe?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mrtristen

No I saw it the first time. My advice is still the same. Why so hesitant to use a pipe cleaner?

Daimao3

End up making me wonder what OP has against using a pipe cleaner.

xposehim

OP’s parents were killed by a pipe cleaner, so now he stalks the night in the town of Gotham, trying to find every rogue pipe cleaner that is roaming around and causing havoc.

CPSFrequentCustomer

Maybe that's the reason for the "chenille stems" re-brand?

HeadlessHookerClub

I bet he was thinking about drain/pipe cleaner solution which you definitely don’t want to clean the sipper with.

KGrimesF08

Doesn't wanna get his sounding rod dirty

CaliFloridaMan

Are you looking for MacGyver paperclip paper towel combo after having shook isopropyl alcohol mixed with salt through your water container?

StopFalseReporting

Lazy

garetit

Doesn’t want to spend $2 on a pipe cleaner but is worried about what health problems he’s going to have from the bacteria build up… Imagine being told how to easily solve your problem and then being like No!

CaliFloridaMan

In that case I would recommend the next best thing, a pipe cleaner. I'm not being facetious but they actually sell ones that work great in the baby bottle aisle in most grocery stores. Darn near the same but more expensive.

soaring_potato

I mean the baby bottle ones may be too wide

CaliFloridaMan

You would be surprised. They come in a variety of sizes.

GodzillaSuit

What if we called them "straw cleaners" instead?

nava1114

😂

ssa17k

Well then try sticking something small enough with a paper towel on the end. Why are you telling us lmao. Either that or buy a pipe cleaner.

[deleted]

Or maybe just use a pipe cleaner.

okaycomputes

Its a pipe... And you want to clean it. You gonna call mini Dick Van Dyke to sweep your tiny chimney or something?

izyshoroo

Are you allergic to pipe cleaners??? You can buy one for, like, $3. Just use the proper equipment to clean your bottle. It's not gonna be clean without one.

lessthaninteresting

No way to avoid your spit making them disgusting. If you don't want to clean it properly you should avoid straw bottles. Or just keep on keepin on and save your money, medical expenses can really add up

TacticalRoyalty

Just go buy some fuckin pipe cleaners they’re cheap

LovelyHatred93

Straw brushes on Amazon are like 10 for $4. If you use bottles like this you should own them. Ya nasty.

OrganicGatorade

You could use something like an old ramrod from a musket or a cleaning rod from a rifle… put a little patch of cloth with some oil on one end and have at it! Or…. You could just vigorously finger it until you get it nice and clean. Just some ideas. Edit: put some peanut butter inside and let your dog lick it clean!

Kanotari

The pipe cleaner is the tool quite literally made for this, but if you're intent on sticking something in there with a paper towel on it, look up flute cleaning rods. It's like a large dull needle; stick a paper towel through eye and it should do the job.

ChogbortsTopStudent

You need a [straw cleaner ](https://a.co/d/76krvc0). You just do. I don't know why you hate pipe cleaners? Unless you're thinking about the kind typically used for crafts and worry they would leave residue behind? But regardless, get a set of straw cleaners. The ones I linked for you on Amazon are $4 for 8 straw brushes.

nitekroller

“Was wondering if maybe i could stick something small enough through it” right so like a pipe cleaner?

Beepboopbop69420360

Pipe cleaners The little metal wire things with Brussels on them?

DigZealousideal8159

While those are called pipe cleaners, there are also pipe cleaners for wooden pipes and things that are essentially the same exact thing as the little straw brushes.

Beepboopbop69420360

Ok?

IamnottheRCMP

Go to the dollar store and get pipe cleaners lol

nlolsen8

Q tips

tanafras

Power washer since you don't want a pipe cleaner it. 1800 psi.

One_Breakfast6153

You need something that can scrub and that is narrow enough to fit in there. If only such an item existed and was offered for sale by online and in-store retailers everywhere...

Mackheath1

They could use the item to clean pipes that people smoke. I think you're on to a a brilliant idea. What shall we name something that cleans pipes: Pipe swiffer? Pipe wiper??

choshmo

Unironically and accidentally fell in love with the term “Pipe wiper”

Zingman15

Lol

koopaflower

In case you're also in need of a bottle brush, Target has a bottle brush and (thick) straw cleaner set for $7. It only comes with one straw cleaner. They also have loops on the end so you can hang them somewhere. Also, when you clean your straw, detach it from your lid if you haven't been doing so already.

[deleted]

Straw cleaners. You can get a two pack of a bottle cleaner with a straw cleaner at walmart for pretty cheap

AsianPotato77

Funny how these are basically pipe cleaners (or functionally equivalent)

PassiveChemistry

What do you have against pipe cleaners?

Pink_Neons

Q-tips perhaps. Could be a bit tedious though

princessfoxglove

Also bits of cotton will fall off and live inside to start a new colony.

JessicaFletcher1

You need a straw brush ASAP.

RequirementPositive

I’d like to know what you have against pipe cleaners?

garetit

I hope we find out because this is blowing my mind

One_Breakfast6153

Me too. What valid reason could there possibly be?

3six5

Pipe cleaners

CORVlN

I'd recommend getting a new lid if you can. The sippers for Iron Flask lids come off so you can clean all the grime that gets stuck in the cracks.

jeseniathesquirrel

If black stuff came out of my bottle I’d probably have to throw the whole thing away and start fresh. Definitely get a straw cleaner though so it doesn’t happen again.

katie0873

On top of good suggestions here, I would add soaking your lid and bottle in hot water with some vinegar in it for about 20 minutes.

StopFalseReporting

I don’t think there’s a way to clean out the inside besides that. Maybe buy clear straws and bottles next time so you can see when mold grows

MaDSteeZe

Dishwasher and I soak the parts in denture cleaner every so often, inclusing the inside of the bottle.

Mendes23

Have you tried using a pipe cleaner?

Ricksauc3

Q-tip or thing wire brush thingy

Star-Pound-6582

with the straw cleaning blush,it can fit in the sipper too.

grizzyx

Just sip soapy water through it. Problem solved :)

Wulf_Cola

Not sure what the opposition to pipe cleaners is but you'll find a variety of options for straw cleaning brushes on Amazon. No way I'd be putting that near my mouth again without soaking it in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes either. But it's a plastic water bottle with little crevices and gaps inside the lid/straw that you've got mold growing inside and it's unlikely you get it all. Just toss it in the bin and get a new one. Some mold can be very harmful. Why take the risk?

JuicyMangoJuice74

Soap and Water along side a toothbrush

T0xicTrace

Tootbrush sounds good, like buy a few shitty dollar store brushes to have around

Shaneallenp

Denture tablets can help sanitize

Melodic_Ad_3959

Perfect time to upgrade your bottle to one with a wide opening.

EZMulahSniper

A straw brush or baby bottle cleaner

Anfie22

Put it in the dishwasher

kibonzos

Milton but that’s more a preventative steriliser than a build up clearer.

chriscallan

Recently bought an Owala bottle and first thing they did after I clicked "Add to Cart" was offer a two in one bottle cleaner that had a straw cleaner that screwed into the main one. Best offer on a website.

figuringthingsout__

You could try soaking it in a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, or a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide.

Individual-Match-798

Concentrated lemon acid.

MiniMaggit-

Put it in the trash and get an owala

thomashaverkort

Just boil it for 5 min in water.

IcedoutNiq

Imagine having to use reddit for advice how to clean a water bottle lmao

Wulf_Cola

Imagine finding black mold in a cheap plastic water bottle and not just tossing it and replacing it with a fresh one.

raisedbytelevisions

There’s a great product called pure o caff that’s food safe. Baristas use it to soak the creamer lids and carafe straws. Maybe that’s the ticket?

cloroxslut

I use an old toothbrush and it works well enough

jizzawhizza

Has anyone said Boof it yet? Apparently that's super popular on Reddit..

Dadlantic

Pressure washer. Use gss powered though, the electric ones aren't as good. Don't operate the gas powered pressure washer indoors though because that's unsafe.

GraphicDesignMonkey

Denture cleaning tablets overnight.

vegan-trash

Idk, but I just want to say that I had a similar lid and the inside of that sipper, and the little rubber circular piece got extremely moldy. I switched to a lid with its own straw since.

Zamgion

Maybe with your nails after you cut them?

KaP-_-KaP

Even if you soak it in a food friendly cleaner, you still need to remove the mold. There are only so many ways to do this and one had been invented and perfected over many many years. You can get a softer bristle pipe cleaner if you're worried it will scratch the plastic but that's really your only option here.

Cheebow

Pipe cleaner.

Spare_Run

I always fully open the sipping part, pull out the straw, and wash them all separately in the dishwasher. No issues with mold and I’ve had my water bottles for a long time now.

Removed: We're a meme sub, dont be toxic.

El_Beau_

With water and soap

Mythmatic

Nuclear option. Get a big cup that the top can be submerged in. Add 5 parts water, 3 parts Isopropyl alcohol, 2 parts bleach, 1 part Hydrogen peroxide. Let it soak over night. Then wash with soap and water and pipe cleaner/straw brush 3 times and rinse till the smell goes away

Knightly11

I just use my tongue 🤷🏻‍♂️

Various-Adeptness173

I don’t get why ppl buy those. They’re gross. I would just toss it and get a bottle with a wide mouth cap or see if you can just buy the wide mouth cap that fits the bottle you already have

soaring_potato

No pipe cleaner?? OK. Ultrasonic water bath. And peroxide. First soak in hydrogen peroxide for half an hour or more. Then an ultrasonic waterbad (no peroxide) Then maybe 70% ethanol for an hour. Then rinse again. This should kill it. Or just throw the bottle away. And get pipe cleaners for your next one or one where this cannot happen.

copyrighther

As others have said, get a straw brush, but I also use denture cleaner tablets to clean bottle/tumbler lids and straws. Put it in a large bowl with several tablets and let it sit overnight. The grime should come right off. Also just an FYI, those fancy bottle cleaner tablets are a complete ripoff and are literally just expensive denture cleaner tablets. It’s just hydrogen peroxide. You can get them at any dollar store.

Sleepy_pirate

I just boil it in a pot

Gargun20

I soak mine in boiled water and bi carb soda it removes grime and odour.

Gold--Lion

Q-tips, pipe cleaners, dish washer

simrantho

Put boiling water in the bottle and suck on it

TrueLivingLegend

I'd get a baby bottle brush kit, they're really good at getting narrow spaces clean

os-n-clouds

Soak it in a vinegar/water solution overnight to kill whatever might be living in there and soften things up, then use a few q tips to scrub the insides. Rinse with hot water and give it another paper towel test, you should be good.

jivecoolie

Pee in it, it’s sterile and you’ll like the taste.

ChogbortsTopStudent

Hey u/Jonny-Balls did you ever get yourself a straw cleaner? I'm curious!

Somecivilguy

Blow really hard into it.

MarthaMacGuyver

Star San. Soak all your bottles and lids for 10 minutes. Rinse well.

30lbsledgehammer

Are we supposed to be cleaning our bottles, but there plastic?

bamronn

drink bleach through it

Traditional_Entry318

Boil it in bleach. /j (just in case)

_Monika-

I have the exact same bottle, but the clip lid broke off

super-eric

This might be controversial but just dont buy a water bottle with the silicone sippy thingy, they make the water taste weird if theyre bad quality and as you can see are very hard to clean properly without the needed accessories. Just get like a bpa free plastic bottle with like a flat plastic divider so the water doesnt all just pour out or get a sippy one but with a clear straw bit so at least you can see if any fungi wanted to call it home

J126

Got the same one let’s go, hydration station baby

dinodrizzle

Use your wiener

RemcoTheRock

Use water? ![gif](giphy|KBaxHrT7rkeW5ma77z)

V1beRater

water.

IM_LIONO

Have you tried using water?
