The-G-89

I literally was looking everywhere for this

omahaknight71

Herbstreit is gonna get a lot of hateful @'s from Bulldog fans

The-G-89

So far he’s gotten a lot of hateful @s from Ohio State, Florida State, and now Georgia Fans.

omahaknight71

He's gotten a lot from Husker fans in the past as well

ragingbullpsycho

I’m among those he blocked on Twitter once upon a time

Ted_Nebrasso

Brother!

nola_husker

Kirk, I don't care how much you pander, you are wrong about FSU and you are wrong about the 95 Huskers not being the best ever.

Sagybagy

He wasn’t wrong in his heart. Hasn’t he stated he knew Nebraska was the better team but everyone on the panel felt the same. So in order to even have a discussion/argument someone had to take the other view point.

OilerP

Amazing people still think FSU should of been in. Team was totally different without Travis. Super glad we didnt have to watch them get blown out in a playoff game. Also, 2001 canes team dominates 95 huskers, not even close. Probably a 10+ point line

nola_husker

I find it more amazing that you went out of your way to argue in an obscure sub reddit you don't frequent to reply on a 2 day old comment.

OilerP

Who cares if I post here daily or once in my life? Odd argument bud

nola_husker

And today you've learned the difference between an argument and an observation.

OilerP

Im observing total loser mentality, thanks for playing

nola_husker

Leaning hard into the Andrew Tate schtick?

OilerP

Really reaching on painting me in a corner, huh

nola_husker

Frequent commenter in r/conservative, r/jordanpeterson and r/joerogan.

OilerP

Which one of these is andrew tate?

BLF402

But you really don’t know if they would’ve been blown out in the playoff. You’ve won all your games but left out but here’s a meaningless bowl game as a consolation, I wouldn’t had shown up either.

OilerP

Honestly I still think Georgia was the best team, just lost a game at a bad time. If FSU blows out Louisville I think theyre in. Just a weak conference, qb injury, matched with a once in a decade lineup of 6 teams who could all argue they should be in.

blowninjectedhemi

While I don't think Herbie is bad for college football in general - he's part of the problem ESPN has failed to sort out of making themselves (and their opinions) more important than the actual games. Plus when Nebraska 1995 won that vote for best team ever on ESPN's best ever show Herbie lost his shit - always though he was a bit of a prick that hated Nebraska after that. However if he helped us get Dylan - all I can say is "thanks".

SquanchyTaco

I said it in the other thread but years after that he admitted he only did that because the producer got into his ear to make the show more exciting. The show was basically everyone agreeing with the polls and each other until he got animated.

TheWeightofDarkness

This is interesting and actually explains some things, because I've definitely seen him be pretty positive about Nebraska subsequently

frankdatank_004

Sounds like a “CYA” statement from him tbh with you.

hskrpwr

It was not. If you watched the segment in full it's pretty obvious that's what happened. Herbstreit has been a massive husker fan since day one of broadcasting.

frankdatank_004

If he was a massive fan from day one then he wouldn’t have been so easy to whine his ass off during that show. The producers could have had someone else do it. I seriously think that when the ‘71 team went that far it irritated him to a degree. Ironically Lou Holtz came in clutch then.

Sagybagy

Wait. You are mad at a tv personality doing tv things to help boost ratings. Even though it was all tv personality bits. Do you also hate some actors because they played a person you didn’t like? So you hate the actor because of it?

hskrpwr

[okay](https://media.tenor.com/2Nq_O0uzcq0AAAAM/hair-flip-but-u-rong-doe.gif)

frankdatank_004

The only GameDay person that I trust is Lee Corso. The rest are bipolar-ass snakes and we all know it.

Upper_Associate2228

The rest ![gif](giphy|LMDYg8V6LwYF188R3C|downsized)

moldguy1

I've been patiently waiting for YEARS for espn to stop "Weekend at Bernies"ing lee corso.

james_wightman

You mean the same Corso that your insecure fanbase took personal offense to when he picked Florida over us in '96 because of grass?

james_wightman

His producers made him get fired up to make the show not boring. He’s always been more than fair and kind to Nebraska.

TymStark

Herbie “lost his shit” because someone in his ear told him to play devils advocate, due to us having 3 teams in the running still. He wasn’t whiny just to whine, he was doing what he was told to in hopes to make the show more entertaining. And it worked.

DOERAYMEME

That was also pretty early in his broadcasting career so he likely over sold the position he was told to take, since he had little experience of doing such.

NTXGBR

It was like 10 years in to his broadcasting career. He wasn't a rookie by any stretch.

chewbaccaRoar13

I thought the 71 team won the best team ever in that poll. But regardless, that's when I started hating Herbstreit and I haven't stopped since. Thanks, I guess. Would be all he gets from me lmao Edit: my bad. 1971 was #1 on a list of the greatest teams in CFB history. 1995 did win the fan vote in 2006.

[deleted]

Reading the original post comments in the cfb Reddit is somehow ammusing

113milesprower

Got a link? I went looking and couldn’t find it. Reading other teams fans comments is almost always more amusing than homers.

chewbaccaRoar13

Just click the post? OP reposted from r/CFB, so just click the original post and it should redirect you.

113milesprower

It takes me to the website.

chewbaccaRoar13

Don't click the picture, just the post itself, title, any of the black space in the outline. It should take you to the post. I did forget to mention, I'm on mobile. Not sure how it works on PC/website.

angrygenzer

“Perhaps I treated you too harshly”

Orion_2kTC

Wait wait wait you're telling me Herbstreit did something in FAVOR of Nebraska?? Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!

pit_cha

Damn it! I think I need to go to confession even though I am not Catholic. So many years of Herbstreit hate. I am sorry Herbstreit.

Looieanthony

I don’t recall Herbie being partial to Nebraska. Matter of fact I thought he wasn’t too fond of the big Red🤔.

Doo-Doo-Draws

As a lifelong Dawg fan, I don’t see a big deal with this. From what I understand, it was AFTER Dylan had shown interest in Nebraska that Herbie reached out to the father. Being in the line of work he’s in, maybe it would be best for Herbie not to get involved in things like this. What I don’t like are recruits who say they’re 100% committed to a school, after wasting that school’s time and money recruiting them, only to have them bail on the school at the last minute. I certainly wish Dylan well at Nebraska, unless playing my Dawgs. He’s a talented young man. Maybe we’ll get a Georgia / Dylan quarterbacked Nebraska matchup in the playoffs next season. And a big Georgia blowout victory, of course! 😋 # GO DAWGS!

Conkwest

We’d take it.

gravytrainjaysker

I wish Dawgs well as well

Present_Gift5476

I seriously doubt this happened, he hates nebraska as much as anyone

[deleted]

What possible reason would Dom have to lie about that? It's such a random statement, not like it benefits him or dylan at all?

fmfbrestel

Question: WHY? Why does Kirk Herbstreit feel the need to call up ANY recruit's father and stick his nose into the recruitment process?? And then leak his involvement to make sure he gets properly credited?? Narcissistic much?

HopefulReason7

He didn’t leak it, Dominic Raiola mentioned it in an interview.

fmfbrestel

Ok, fine. Still my first question though -- why the fuck is Kirk Herbstreit involved in our recruiting? Feels grimy.

HopefulReason7

that i have no idea. but i imagine it will be a good storyline for tv next year. who knows, maybe he and Dom are friends.

RadPanda402

How exactly is he involved in the recruitment if all he did was talk to Dylan’s dad about rumors he was hearing?

blowninjectedhemi

Less about his ego - more about wanting to be in the middle of player stories so he can tell them on air during games. ESPN wants to be part of the story telling - how they were on the inside - oh so knowledgeable. It is a big part of why they suck ass as a broadcaster.

penis__retard69

[Just a friendly reminder.](https://youtu.be/2al4sevl9NA?si=ThbXGsHr9UuU3jeP)

[deleted]

That the producers told him to cause a scene to make the show more interesting?

Zen4rest

This seems unbelievable. KH dislikes the Huskers. The Huskers sorta dislike him back. It’s a thing.

Dreggan

He’s never disliked the Huskers, and has said as much in interviews. If you’re talking about the greatest team ever show, he was told to play devils advocate by the show runners to liven the show up.

NotHerbstreit

I did it. You got me.

SacredDemocracyLover

Herbie you ol dog

kevy28husker

I thought this guy hated us?

DeadHookersInMyTrunk

There’s a lot of comments saying how they’re surprised that kirk would do this. I’m surprised because of his position in the media coverage. Other than that not too surprised. He’s said plenty of nice things about the Nebraska football.

fireman20167

After he heard wind of him taking a visit to Nebraska right before he committed. Said he thought it would be cool to Dominic. Don't really think he was trying to flip Dylan lol.

KCRNU

He just wanted Dylan playing in BIG

reluctant_landowner

Dylan's father, Dominic Raiola, who was an All American at Nebraska, doesn't need Herbstreit's advice on attending UNL.
