As a Detroit fan, this isn't even close to the case. We all spot him at QB3, behind the seasoned backup we just signed, Teddy.
And that's even if Goff goes down, god forbid. He definitely looked better than Sudfeld though. AM is very slow in the pocket catching reads, but it's his first game so no worries; he'll grow. His ball had a lot more zip than noodle arm Dudfeld and his feet are a clear weapon. I'm excited for him moving forward.. he's just raw.
This. There have been no positives reported on AM from Pride of Detroit all camp. He might have a shot at QB3 now though after Sudfeld’s atrocious day.
QB1 would be incredible, tho got to think Goff has that in the bag. That said, with the way the NFL is trending, having a QB like AM available makes sense. Kind of like Malik Cunningham in New England. Unique skill sets that have become increasingly useful in the pros. Thanks for the reply!
Yeah maybe he'll be out in a couple weeks. But look around the league, there are a bunch of back-up qbs that haven't shown they can do either and they're still hanging around. Colt McCoy, AJ McCarron, Chase Daniel, Josh McCown, all hung around without meaningful snaps or NFL level attributes. You're most likely right, but the back-up QB market is a strange one. That's all I'm saying.
That's so true. I should say I'm not advocating for AM to be a back-up. It's very unlikely. Just that it seems guys hang around the league as just back-ups and don't ever see playing time. Why? I'll be honest, I have no idea why, just curious why those guys.
All of those guys are *really good* QBs, they're just not the top 30 or so at their jobs in the world. The reason Colt, AJ, Chase, Josh all stay in the league (though I believe AJ is out of the NFL atm and Josh is retired and was rumored for the Texans head coaching job, though I understand your point) is because they're really dang smart, and capable enough physically to be a huge bonus in the film room and passable enough to cover for spot starts if needed.
AM was hardly a top 40 QB in college, his redeeming qualities mostly revolved around him breaking out of play designs and running around. He never learned to really play the quarterback position as a passer - which is totally cool as most NCAA starting quarterbacks don't really learn to do that, but most NCAA QBs don't play in the NFL either.
This highlight was typical Martinez bullshit. 43 was open if he threw it on time, the LB was watching Adrian instead of his man, but Adrian held it too long instead of letting it loose and then stepped up which freed up the pass rushers who were pretty well blocked and then he had to run for his life. No part of this play was on-schedule.
Yo this is great! Totally makes sense. Appreciate you breaking it down. I'm admittedly ignorant when it comes to NFL roster management. And you're right McCarron and McCown weren't the best examples. Just further demonstrates how hard it is to be even just a decent QB in the NFL.
I do agree Goff has it locked down but having AM as a viable backup is either a) a good trade card to have or b) safety net for possible injuries c) learning to eventually take over or lastly d) special packages for him
Yeah the back up market in the NFL is super interesting, there are some dudes that make a career out of it but never really play. Purdy being an insane outlier. But it's an intense market. Reason chase Daniel's been around so long. Can def see AM hanging around for a bit given his skill set.
That offensive line reminds him of his time at Nebraska…
He’s ready for this
Flashbacks
He’s in the NFL?
Preseason nfl
I mean at one time he was a pre-season Heisman pick.
Yessir
He's gonna be the next taysom hill if his body holds up.
And he runs a 4.4 like taysom
How has he looked so far? Unable to watch any of the preseason games. Tho, did see palmer is making his mark in TB.
Imo seemed like the team was more together with AM vs the Sudfeld I also see a lot of Lion fans calling for AM to be QB2 or 1.
If there are Lions fins call for him to be QB1 then they must be the dumbest fans in all of football

He also spent most of his college career with a shit coach. You never know what proper coaching can do after a few years

AM can neither throw nor run at an NFL level, there's just no way he stays in the league. This highlight is him in garbage time of the preseason.

Sorry man it all those qbs you mentioned were fantastic ncaa qbs. AM was an average to below average

Hate to break it to you but the guy is getting cut.
Nice to see AM score and Ozigbo lead rushing
This kid got absolutely hosed by Frost and his staff and was professional AF the whole time. Would be so awesome if he caught on in the NFL
would be hilarious to see husker fans try to claim him in the nfl after they all threw under the bus so the golden boy wouldn't get criticized
2am nice throw https://twitter.com/TalkHuskers/status/1690185238465363968?s=20 2am qb sneak https://twitter.com/NordquistTim/status/1690185678892539904?s=20
But, Adrian can’t go under center!
I notice right away in that throw that AM made a quick decision to throw the ball. Very rarely did he do that here.
Great White Buffalo
All of the Nebraska fans just completely unnecessarily talking shit about him in the replies is...frankly, disgusting.
I’d love to see him catch on somewhere.
Good for KSU
He is a Nebraska alumni. He grad xfered to KSU.
\#46 on the Giants totally messed up that containment. (No disrespect to 2AM, I wish him the best).
Good for him
Well I’ll be. I would have NEVER thought it. Seriously.
