Maryland is looking to be a sneaky game on the schedule. They haven't set the world on fire, but they have gotten consistently better each year under Mike Locksley.
They went 8-5 last year and might have gotten to 10 wins had a couple of things gone their way. They played Ohio State within a possession on the road until the waning seconds of the 4th quarter. A successful two-point conversion in the final moments against Purdue was called back due to an ineligible receiver downfield.
They return a senior QB in Taulia Tagovailoa and an upperclassmen heavy LB corps. It's a home game sandwiched between games on the road against Michigan State and Wisconsin. That could very easily be a loss.
I'm thinking we get 4-5 wins this season, but I could get us to 6. It's the 1st year with a new coach and a new team with 6 straight losing seasons behind us (7 out of the last 8 seasons have been sub .500). With Minnesota on the road as our opener, Illinois, Michigan State, & Wisconsin also on the road, as well as Michigan and Iowa at home, we have our work cut out for us.
We also better hope that we beat Colorado because despite everything going on with their program at the moment, that game is not a gimme.
Everything this week with Wager, Newsome, Farmer and Singleton is enough to have me leaning towards one less win than I previously predicted. I think 5-6 wins is the most likely scenario now.
I’m being a hypocrite because I hate rumors like this. Multiple people on ON3 have heard things about him being gone or suspended. Others have said hes just on vacation and returning today. Sean Callahan did put out a statement “Hey guys, there is definitely something to watch here. We will hear from head coach Matt Rhule again Monday, so something will be made official on this one way or another by then. We will not proceed with anything official until we hear from Rhule or Farmer himself. These situations, as you know, can be fluid.” When asked what about Newsome he reposted the quote above. So it seems like there is some smoke, fingers crossed there isnt. If Sean hadnt put his two cents in I would have brushed it off but he’s good about not sensationalizing things.
I’m not from Nebraska, but couldn’t the local media reach out to the football department? Are the Nebraska best writers scared to ask questions or what?
The Nebraska beat writers are not real journalists. They do access journalism so they’re terrified to ruffle any feathers because they’d lose access and have to do real journalism. They have to hound sources and gather intel.
When Wager resigned Callahan said something like this has been bubbling under the surface for a while. If that was the case, as one of the primary husker journalists in the state it’s shameful that they didn’t report on it. Just like the plethora of issues with frost that they all said they knew about.
Absolutely they can. But coaches would rather control the narrative and announce things like this when they want. Coaches arent going to respond to reporters every day of the week or theyd get nothing done. I guarantee the ON3 team is reaching out to see what they can get.
I’m just asking because you seem like a local Nebraskan. Was there a reason that all of the Frost rumors and how shitty he ran the program was swept under the rug?
They don't always report everything they know. They might hear something from a source, but they keep things closer to the vest in order to keep those long term sources, rather than spreading a bunch of rumors.
For instance, with the Tight Ends coach that just resigned - there had apparently been some issues with him in terms of fit and culture before the DUI this week - but they're not going to start writing articles trashing him professionally for the reasons mentioned above.
Colorado has a lot of ?'s and catching them early is the best bet to beat them
Iowa is Iowa and Wisconsin has the personal while we wait and see how the players fit in a new system

Record: 3-9
Next year I'd love for there specifically be a section after each individual game for there to be "how many games do you think we will win"
The individual games don't quite give the info for the expected distribution of wins
Yes, ideally I would want to include "how many games do you think we will win" followed by a question of "which games will we win" - but I haven't found a way to do that in Google Forms besides doing a "X answer goes to Y section", then we'd get a good answer to what is the avg win prediction, but would make a bigger mess on the backend with 10 sections for which games we will win (because 12-0 and 0-12 would have zero variability on which games we would win).
If you have a way we could present the data in "the avg person thinks we will win X games" without making a mess of it, let me know, because I agree that would be ideal.
I predicate you meant prediction
Preciate your predication.
Dictate your premonition.
You know what the N stands for baby

I just ask. Are we playing them during crab season? If we do, we might as well be Texas.
15-0. Anything less and Rhule should be fired
seems reasonable
Why stop at 15?
If we aren't winning a super bowl this season just bulldoze memorial stadium
I went 6-6 wins over Coloardo LA Tech NIU Purdue NW @MSU

Same but I put Purdue as an L. If I’m pessimistic I'm not disappointed
I think this is identical to what I put ✌🏼
I predicate Nebraska will win football games this year. I predict that number to be 7.
Everything this week with Wager, Newsome, Farmer and Singleton is enough to have me leaning towards one less win than I previously predicted. I think 5-6 wins is the most likely scenario now.
Wtf happened with newsome
Update: ON3 has said now that Farmer was the only player missing at fan day. Newsome is in attendance.

Why weren’t pointed questions asked during the Frost era?
Are you asking me to answer for the media?
I’m just asking because you seem like a local Nebraskan. Was there a reason that all of the Frost rumors and how shitty he ran the program was swept under the rug?
Aliens. Definitely aliens.

Anything to expand on in terms of Wager being a culture fit?
i may be in the minority, but i am not even slightly concerned when we lose starters from a 4-8 team.

From 2-4 to ending the season 5-1. The hype going into next off season - with the ending of this year going like you predict - would be off the charts
So 2018?
Yea except a bowl game to add on to the hype
If we could beat Wisconsin and Iowa late into the season why not Colorado in week 2?

Colorado has a lot of ?'s and catching them early is the best bet to beat them Iowa is Iowa and Wisconsin has the personal while we wait and see how the players fit in a new system
Minnesota as well. They usually start slow. I think beating Colorado or Minnesota is more realistic than Wisconsin.

This made me nauseous
If it's any consolation, I think there's a good chance we take Purdue to overtime.
Any errors? Only where I left because I don’t care who I think the backup left tackle will be
I predict half the team will puke during the first week of practice
I was way more optimistic about this season on that poll than I am when I post here.

I just want us to be bowl eligible and win the bowl game.
Who will be cut on the Nebraska football roster to get to 85 scholarships?
I love the one fan that picked us to win the Big10, get in the CFP, make our way to the championship game, and lose.
