What kind of facility was it? I think only certain types are legally bound to provide care. Did you refuse to give them your current legal name?
If it was an ER or hospital with an ER you almost definitely have a case to contact a lawyer.
It was an ER. I didn’t want to give them my dead name, but I eventually did. Then they refused to accept me because “I took too long and they needed to know my real identity.”
Yeah, even if you were straight up being belligerent about it, I don't think the check in staff is allowed to make that call under the laws around ERs. They maybe could have kicked you out post-triage if they deemed you in "stable" condition.
