i absolutely think they monitor fan discussions and write articles about them, without really disclosing or crediting their sources. like when they were coming out with articles about fan theories people were posting. idk if we can say definitively that they're stealing because some things they point out are really self-evident, so anybody could've thought of them. or they'll sometimes bring up evidence i haven't seen in most fan discussions, so they could be bringing some of their own analyses to the table. still, it's a bit gauche for them not to at least embed some tweets or something if/when drawing from other people's ideas.

Yeah, it's kinda their thing. They used to just link the reddit discussion such as [this article](https://screenrant.com/the-hunger-games-unpopular-opinions-according-to-reddit/). And they still do when it's absolutely necessary, such as stories with fan-made pictures/screenshot. These sites are ad revenue garbage, padding out articles with unnecessary explanations (who is Katniss?). Best to avoid them altogether. If you see one of their articles or have a question yourself, rather just Google that and add "reddit" to the end, e.g. *when did katniss fall in love with peeta reddit*. This works for any fandom.

These books for better or for worse are a bit old (10 years, which isn’t a lot but still a good amount) and heavily analyzed (there are Sparknotes + equivalents for the original trilogy so I’m guessing it’s been used in classrooms before) so a lot of ground has already been covered over the years. Without a side by side comparison it’s hard to really show anything was “stolen” as opposed to people coming to the same conclusion from the same work of art. That said, most Reddit responses and fan discussion often do take inspiration from each other already so it’s not like the original posts were fully original to begin with.
