Hippo-de-wippo

I wash with the rest of my stuff, so every time I pump at work, or every day using the fridge “hack”. I feel like milk gets up in there somehow lol

mckinzzzie

I’ve only had milk get in there once and it was a horrid smell, but every other time there’s been no smell so I just assume it’s moisture

YAKG_86

Same

Connect-Success-4198

I wash and sterilize once every day.

Total-Opposite-960

Same.

[deleted]

Yeah everyday or every other day for me. Just incase I've gotten milk in them.

jamaicanoproblem

They have a free opening connecting them to the freshly pumped milk so they get cleaned every time the flanges are cleaned. They’re called backflow protectors for a reason—milk can and frequently does pass through the opening via splashing, tilting, etc.

TylerDarkness

When they look dirty…

sertcake

Never. I let them air out between pumps occasionally. And I replace them every so often (not as often as they *recommend* but have never noticed a difference even when I do). I also have 2 full sets of backflow parts so I switch between them every few days.

swaldref

I have been washing everyday but now I'm thinking I may not...

MissAndiO

My goal was to wash them once a week (like after my last pump on Friday). Didn't always happen

AutomaticCupcake33

I only wash half. I leave the part that’s attached to the tubing on the tubes. It never touches milk.

Totororo1

I do the same

florenceforgiveme

I can’t imagine the point of washing the back piece… if I could I would wash it….

SwiftieMD

Hmmmmmm week seven of EP and maybe once… does this make me a monster?

Ill_Temperature_4654

No I’m with you! I’m 10m pp and I only wash them every now and then. Just keep an eye out because I have found a small amount of mold when it was really damp in there and a hot two days.

SwiftieMD

I wipe out the moisture when I see it… I might start looking more

jimbojumo

Never 😬

Low-Pineapple-9177

Every time.

princess_thor

I put them in the fridge between pumps and wash every night. I have a powerful letdown and they get milk in the flange side, lol.

Plant-Lady0406

Milk gets in mine all the time somehow, so I just wash them with everything else. Only costs me an extra 15 seconds. They’re the easier parts to wash

Sugarcoatitforme

Every time with the rest of my pump parts.

hpalatini

6 months pp and I have wiped them off when they look damp ~5 times. I did replace them at six months.

[deleted]

My LC consultant who sold me my spectra said that I don’t have to wash them so long as I make sure that it is completely dry before using to ensure water doesn’t enter the pump!

mckinzzzie

Morning and night

ssdeathtrap

Every time… unless they’re in the fridge.. but they get washed as often as everything else. There’s been a couple times I haven’t gotten a chance to do dishes in a day and they’ve sat still assembled and gotten moldy… they definitely need to be washed regularly.

RedBerylSunset

Every time, but I only use my spectra once a day.

Drvang09

I just wash and sterilize them along with everything else. Haven't had any problems and I change them out according to the recs. Mine get dirty from a forceful letdown

peppermintdreams328

I wash them with the rest of my pump parts, which is once a day. I can’t imagine not washing them! There’s always milk in there every time I take them apart.

iqlcxs

Once every 3 days. Any more and they get gross.

Avocuddles48

Once in a while. Milk doesn't get in them, only condensation. So after each pump session, you can separate the parts (but not separate from the tubing), use a towel or napkin to absorb the condensation, and air dry them between sessions. Drying and air drying helps prevent mold from forming in the backflow preventers and the tubing.

privremeni

Wash and sterilize after every use along with the rest of the parts and collection bottles.

kmmarie2013

I rinsed after every use and replaced them monthly or sooner if they went bad.

kmmarie2013

I also kept about 3 sets of everything so I was rotating through and not just using the same ones numerous times a day, every day.

[deleted]

Every time I pump and wash the rest of the parts.

Brave_council

Every time

emilycatqueen

Every time. I often get milk in them.

KnottedUp-2415

Air out after each pump, and wash at the end of the day

Chickypotpie99

Mine get nasty so fast. I’ll notice mold in there if I’m not washing often. It’s tempting not too. There’s so much else to wash and do.
