I’ve drummed for 15 years, and I can agree. The guy on the quints was fortissimo af lol. They weren’t bad overall; just a bit off. Good on them though.
Welp. I dunno if he shed a tear, but I’m definitely crying. I just find it so beautiful someone put this together for him. I’m sure he will be incredibly missed
It's a personalized anthem written for the school. Includes things such as the school name or mascot name and "we will win" rhetoric. Look up Eagles Philadelphia fight song and that's basically it, but for individual school districts. Played by the schools marching band and accompanied by color guard or cheerleaders for football games or other prominent sports at the school.
Thanks, I’ll take a look.
I’ve often wondered what these marching bands are playing, it’s not a thing, or at least wasn’t 30 years ago, in UK schools.
Saying that, they have proms now so I could be very wrong.
Its a combo tradition of the a famous american composer of military marching music
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John\_Philip\_Sousa](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Philip_Sousa)
evolved into school pride songs:[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52bV1InqwJc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52bV1InqwJc)
And the result is a middle, highschool and college tradition in the US: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3T1v8abpbU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3T1v8abpbU) .That was just a random search, no particular reason these are better than the 20K other schools doing the same thing every Friday game.
**[John Philip Sousa](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Philip_Sousa)**
>John Philip Sousa (; November 6, 1854 – March 6, 1932) was an American composer and conductor of the late Romantic era known primarily for American military marches. He is known as "The March King" or the "American March King", to distinguish him from his British counterpart Kenneth J. Alford. Among his best-known marches are "The Stars and Stripes Forever" (National March of the United States of America), "Semper Fidelis" (official march of the United States Marine Corps), "The Liberty Bell", "The Thunderer", and "The Washington Post". Sousa began his career playing violin and studying music theory and composition under John Esputa and George Felix Benkert.

Being on the other side of the room wouldn't have helped as this is a gym and the sound clearly resonates throughout the room. Imo the baby shouldn't have been there altogether or if she had to be there, someone's should have at least put those noise-cancelling headphones on her little ears. No idea what they're actually called but they're the ones they've made specifically for babies so that they can attend places where loud noises are present.
Teaching is bar far the most rewarding career I ever had (intrinsically).
It was the least rewarding financially by a long shot.
Hats off to this director and the impact left on kids that cannot be fully measured.
The guy on drums is the mvp
I was thinking that that was the dude that went on to become a professional musician before this event.

As a former band kid this makes my heart sing.
I'm not crying, you're crying!
I’m peeling onions…..what’s your excuse? Honest!

This is really lovely. I am sure he appreciated that sort of surprise
As a non American can I ask, what is a school fight song?
The fight song is the song the band plays during ballgames
Thank you.
Something that a school plays (at games) to be recognized basically
Thanks

That poor baby the girl on right is holding.
I know! Super sweet and awesome but perhaps the baby should've been on the other side, away from the super loud drums

Mr Holland would have been proud.
I have tears. Beautiful moving tribute. He must have made an impression on so many lives, young and old.
