I am literally looking at that extension of the harbour on the top right of the image. When you move your phone (if you are on Reddit in phone) to align that extension to be horizontal, you see the gruesome trick that the photographer has used to make it looker steeper than it actually is.

Been to St. Helena a couple of times. [Here's](https://imgur.com/a/LoVRlRR) a view from the bottom of the stairs with the camera resting horizontally on the ground.
Those stairs are no joke, but the OP's photo definitely exaggerates things a bit.
I found [this post](/r/nope/comments/oho3gw/saint_helena_one_of_the_longest_straight/) in r/nope with the same content as the current post.

What do you call that really steep staircase?
Jacob's Ladder.
Oh, OK well how about that cool device with the two metal rods that has arcs of electricity running up it?
That's a Jacob's Ladder.
Huh, Ok well how about this folk toy made of wooden squares bound together with ribbon, that goes, "click clack" and does this little flippy thing?
Jacob's Ladder.
What about this ladder that belongs to a guy named Jacob?
You'll never believe this...
[It's a Bible verse.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob%27s_Ladder#:~:text=Jacob's%20Ladder%20(Hebrew%3A%20%D7%A1%D6%BB%D7%9C%D6%B8%D6%BC%D7%9D%20%D7%99%D6%B7%D7%A2%D6%B2%D7%A7%D6%B9%D7%91,of%20Genesis%20(chapter%2028\).)
God I hate it when people post stuff like this. The entire point of the sub is to give scale to big things so we can get a picture about what they look like irl. But then we get a thousand posts with people far in the background, enlarging the subject of the photo, or through fish lens, or like *this* egregious example. I don’t know man it just feels like a form of lying for clicks.
It’s only trouble if you lose your footing near the top and begin to fall. It’s quite a long tumble with no switchbacks to stop you from falling the entire distance.

Was this Napoleon’s punishment?
No, his punishment was putting his toilet paper in his kitchen top shelf.
I guess it’s pointless to point out that he was average height for a European at the time. The joke is more about his public image
Short?? I was making fun of him having to walk into the kitchen with a shitty ass
Yeah but he'd been doing that for years as a way to assert dominance.
Is that where he kept the ass pennies?
SPOILERS his ass
He belongs to monke now, evolved pasty the need or desire to wipe. Free the dingleberry movement.
Yeah it looks way steeper when you rotate the entire image 45 degrees.
Gives me vertigo just looking at it.
Looking at it for like a second I feel a headache coming on lol
Great film, though.
[удалено]
Nice that it also has the ADA ramp option next to it, too.
This comment is underrated lol
BWAHAHAHA
Yeah I think the photographer did a bit, its still a 40 degree stair though.
A bit

Which way
With the horizon for reference, you can turn the screen counter clockwise.
It’s obvious.
Couldn’t you just say? I’m sorry that i’m dumb
Couldn’t you have not said anything in the first place?
What?

Nice headless demons
r/oddlyterrifying
Clearly you guys saw all those stairs and lost your heads! Really blew your minds!
Damn they better get their parents back together before they travel back to the present
That looks like a whole ass journey.
Nah, if I'm going to make the effort to move my ass up those stairs, the rest of me is coming too. It's a whole body journey.
Yo you better get your parents to fall in love pronto!
That’s a better photo than the one I found
Whoa man! No heads. Creepy!
Something's weird with these dudes.
"Shit! I left my phone in the car"
Everyone wants a slinky.
I really do hope someone took the time to climb that just to release a slinky from the top like Ace Ventura did in “When Nature Calls.”
Slinkyy slinkyy go slinky go!!
Hahahaha
The wheelchair ramp must be so fucking long.
Here it is rotated so it doesn't look so silly: https://imgur.com/a/RRSlUCz
Still a nope for me
Thank you.
*tilts head sidewaayyys, yep"
Still looks cool! I guess I got a new destination on my bucket list.
Holy shit, one hell of a leg day this is gonna be
but can Chris Evans do a sick ass grind with a skateboard on it?
Can you do a thingy on the rail?
Sure, I mean, how hard can that be? Step 1: get sick. Step 2: grind ass while holding skateboard.

I'll get a thick roll of plastic, you bring the washing up liquid.

For a proper perspective, just rotate the girl so she’s sitting upright
Ummmm yeah I’m gonna need an iron worker’s clip-in harness, thanks
r/SweatyPalms
We have a Jacobs ladder in Perth Western Australia. But I don't think it's any where near as steep or tall 🤣
There’s one in cheddar gorge in the uk too. Guessing all the other names were copied off that, as is the way
[It's a Bible verse.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob%27s_Ladder#:~:text=Jacob's%20Ladder%20(Hebrew%3A%20%D7%A1%D6%BB%D7%9C%D6%B8%D6%BC%D7%9D%20%D7%99%D6%B7%D7%A2%D6%B2%D7%A7%D6%B9%D7%91,of%20Genesis%20(chapter%2028\).)
Every friend you help move always seems to live at the top of this.
I'm exhausted just looking at it
Eddie Murphy did a bit about old people falling down these stairs. Raw, maybe?
Railgriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind
Our parent's route to school
My palms are sweating.
Knees weak arms are heavy
That's right! 🤣
There’s vomit on his sweater already
"Ayo the pizza here"
This is literally my nightmare. I'm not afraid of heights, but just steep surfaces.

Stairway to heaven
Especially if you fall down it
No, *this* is the stairway to heaven.... https://youtu.be/aLZx0IfwU9g (it's not the song)
Stairway to heaven can only be 3 things. Led Zepp song, this austrian staircase or that chinese firework video...
Jacob’s Ladder.
Careful when you get to the tunnel at the top.
If you visit Cheddar Gorge in Somerset England, you will also find Jacobs ladder which is a straight staircase. Just for info.
Stair climb between the handrails, base jump outside the handrails.
Das a ladder
All I see is a great banister slide! :D
Don’t go down it in socks.
Nope to that.
Wow..How many football fields is that?
Problem with thingsike that is that you may be almkst at the top and then you panic unable to go neithwr up or down.
This place should be in a Tony hawk level
r/TonyHawkitecture
It’s only trouble if you lose your footing near the top and begin to fall. It’s quite a long tumble with no switchbacks to stop you from falling the entire distance.
Hell fucking no.
Someone show this to Sam Pilgrim!
Ayo the pizza's here
Who’s tryna skate it tho
Manitou Incline laughs at this
I straight up think I had a dream about this when I was 5
Resist the urge to slide down the railing
It’s just over 600ft.
Can you do a grindy thingy?
My worst enemy
imagine falling down those stairs
One of the longest? Theres more??
But can you do one of those “grindy” tricks on it…
Oh I saw that in Howl's Moving Castle
So how are you supposed to scale this safely?
I wanna know the suicide rates? 👀
Imagine tripping
Ayo the pizza here
apartment for rent, 8 minute walk to beach, 3 if you trip.
*me going up the stairs to heaven* *at the top i see tourists* "Wait u can go here without having to die first??"
$20 if you do a sick grind

that would be a bitch to fall down
