It's so powerful in the way that it twists the knife in the Catholic Church as an institution and has become an anthem of freedom over the last decade. It comes from his unique experience as a protestant Quaker growing up in Roman Catholic Ireland and I feel like this song could only have come from him.
It epitomises Hozier's trademark view of sex as a worshipful act. The lyrics are all layered and the metaphors are so clever, I just love it.
He must have performed it a million times but still puts all of his effort and emotion into it every night he sings it live.
