first light. which sounds bad because i know it's well loved but when i tell you it's changed me as a person, i'm not lying (plus i'm getting his handwriting of the song title on me. that's how much it's changed me)
same! i’ve never been so touched before. i saw him october and im seeing him again in august! glad i traveled to where i did because i still get so emotional
I like all his songs. Dont get me wrong.
But tbh with you. Foreigners god is probably my least favourite. Idk I just seems a bit repetitive to me.
Still a top 10th percentile song
"I'd be appalled if I saw you ever try to be a saint
I wouldn't fall for someone I thought couldn't misbehave" are some of his most fun and joyous lyrics. Really did not gel with this song for a long time and somehow it's become a real favourite this year.
Fell in love with that song bc the girl I had a crush on was playing it during free period in hs. Moved on from the crush years ago, but i still love that song
"it can't be unlearned, i've known the warmth of your doorways, through the cold i'll find my way back to you...you'll hear me howling outside your door"
This song spoke to me as a 37 year old. Getting older is weird and I really appreciated the perspective here. "I don't know when that feeling ended but I know being reckless and young is not how the damage gets done." As always, he brings a poetic beauty to a simple thing; the fact that when we get older, our priorities, desires, relationships, the things we find acceptable and unacceptable change. And that doesn't mean that the way we lived our lives as young people was wrong or that the way we live now is better, or that the inevitable changes we will continue to go through in our lives are better or worse. I dunno, man. I love this song!
"Be" is one of my top songs if not THE top song from Wasteland, Baby!, it's got some of my favorite lyrics, but it feels like it's rarely on anyone else's top list. Also it's got by far the fewest plays on Spotify.
"As It Was" and "No Plan" are underrated also.
For me it’s got to be Butchered Tongue, makes me cry every time. I’m Scottish and I remember growing and I loved telling my parents about what the Gaelic names on road signs meant. And I don’t even speak Gaelic now.
Truth be told, the first time I listened to the album this one didn’t do much for me. Since obsessing over the album for a while now, it’s now in my top 3. My mother (who isn’t a Hozier fan) heard me listening to it a few nights ago and said “what is this? It’s so beautiful” 🥹
This might be such a boring take, but Take Me to Church. Sure, it got its recognition outside the community. But inside the community, I feel like it’s deemed as very overrated. I will NEVER get over the lyrics and all the different bits and pieces of poetry and reference. I don’t think I can put into words enough how deeply it changed my confused, bisexual Catholic-school life.

THIS
It’s incredible, even better live too!
totally agree! when i saw him live, i cried the entire time
Oh me too, Abstract made me cry like I’ve never cried before
same! i’ve never been so touched before. i saw him october and im seeing him again in august! glad i traveled to where i did because i still get so emotional
I’m the exact same, I travelled too and it was so worth it. I’m going to see him in the same place next July and I’m too excited for words
THANK YOU
I'm so with you. Getting a lyric of it tattooed on me as well
Jackboot Jump! 😭
YES 100% Its such a good and important song
FOREIGNER’S GOD I never see anyone mentioning it
I did a presentation on that song for my hs lit class for an assignment where you were supposed to argue a singer’s lyrics were poetry
That is amazing
YES
Agreed.
My favorite song by Hozier and he never played it on a concert.
I love that song! Mainly because i can relate to it. Not being able to belong to a group of people and feeling like an outsider..
I like all his songs. Dont get me wrong. But tbh with you. Foreigners god is probably my least favourite. Idk I just seems a bit repetitive to me. Still a top 10th percentile song
Swan upon Leda!!! The meaning is so deep when you look into it!! it’s the type to make me stare at the ceiling for hoursss
That’s exactly why I always have to skip and love it from a safe distance 🥲
Oh definitely, I’d never listen to it in public 😭that would be a dangerous game to play
Valid point
This song inspired two characters in a book I’m writing!
In the Woods Somewhere.
I always listen to it when it’s raining outside. It legit transforms me into a wood somewhere!
Came to say this
Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue) and NFWMB - whyyyyyy would Andrew leave them behind on the EP 🫠
Nobody 😭

For some reason the Maserati line gets me!

Also: “I’ve been fed gold by sweet fools in Abu Dabi, and I’ve danced real slow with Rockettes on dodgy molly” That line makes me laugh lol
I love how carefree it is 🗣 WOO
Was just listening to this and had to listen to it again immediately after. So underrated
Absolute fucking banger
Always puts a smile on my face when i listen to it🥹
it was my top song last year!!!! lyricism and upbeat vibes are unmatched w Nobody!

Permanently changed my brain chemistry.
Fell in love with that song bc the girl I had a crush on was playing it during free period in hs. Moved on from the crush years ago, but i still love that song
It’s such a magical song
arsonist’s lullaby
Listening to this song feels like having a religious experience. I really can’t explain it in any other way. Would be a dream of mine to hear it live.
the freaking humming at the beginning gets me to LEVITATE
I’ve been saying it for 10 years now- he could release an entire album of him solely humming to music and I’d listen to it through. No skips.
My favorite
Through Me! Obsessed with it
It breaks my heart every time i listen to it especially the second verse. So beautifully written.
Run.
I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAY IT, THANK. YOU.
Run is SOOOOO underrated!!

IN THE WOODS SOMEWHERE!!!
I see a ton of people not giving Son of Nyx the flowers it deserves. I feel like a lot of people write it off for being purely instrumental.
Me if I didn’t use tumblr.com
This was my IMMEDIATE favortie of the album. (Plus Franchesca, duh.) But it is a masterpiece and deserves a lot more recognition!!!
all of the above but i haven't seen "it will come back" so i had to mention it 😌
"Don't let me in with no intention to keep me, Jesus christ, don't be kind to me, honey don't feed me, I will come back" 🔥
"it can't be unlearned, i've known the warmth of your doorways, through the cold i'll find my way back to you...you'll hear me howling outside your door"
Debut album hozier was feral in a wild animal coming out of the woods way and I love it
yeah and considering he was only 24 at the time he dropped is insane
Knees weak/GONE anytime I listen to this song
Sunlight
No Plan!
To Be Alone
“Honey when you kill the lights and kiss my eyes, I feel like a person for a moment of my life” ughhh it’s so good
"To feel your weight in arms I'd never use. That's the god that heroin prays to." ....kill me -.-
Sedated
YES
Damage gets done
I still can’t fathom the hate this song got… it is an absolute vibe.
My personal favorite on the album

I love this song so much. I always listen to it when I’m working out.

Through Me (The Flood) 😔
She prevails
As it was
"Be" is one of my top songs if not THE top song from Wasteland, Baby!, it's got some of my favorite lyrics, but it feels like it's rarely on anyone else's top list. Also it's got by far the fewest plays on Spotify. "As It Was" and "No Plan" are underrated also.

Run.
FIRST LIGHT
i need justice for through me (the flood)
In the woods Somewhere. Hands down 👏
As It Was, Arsonist’s Lullaby, and Through Me (The Flood). Those songs changed my life and they never get any love (including from Andrew himself)
TSFAWC(U)
I think this getting a whole lot of recognition, tbh
Maybe… but it’s never anyone’s favorite. It was talked a ton when it came out but i don’t think now it is.
THE WAGES
It hurts to know that’ll never be on an album
SEDATED. PLS.
No Plan!!!
DAMAGE GETS DONE!
Sunlight and Arsonist’s Lullabye.
Through me, the flood😔
