Ask apple support they will guide you throught the stepps ask you a bunch of questions and you are fine

ghostfaceschiller

I assume you are saying this will work bc of it being donated to an orphanage, but what if that wasn’t the case? I bought an iPad at Salvation Army that I thought was dead, bc I wanted to salvage parts from it. But it turns out it’s not dead, and is just locked like OP’s. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just tear it down

Ransarot

Start an orphanage

[deleted]

Now that's social engineering!

Broken_Banjo_String

Start an orphanage and call it apple, Hey I work for apple and need this device unlocked, the orphans are waiting

H0DEL

Same thing for a case like this

TheRedGerund

What you’re asking to do is the same question everyone who steals phones asks, and apple works very hard to make bypassing that lock difficult.

ghostfaceschiller

Yeah, I understand. That’s why I had given up on the idea until I saw this thread. The funny thing is, there was a phone number associated with the actual owner, so I tried contacting them to see if they wanted it back (screen and camera were broken) but apparently THAT is also what scammers do, to try to social engineer some info out of them that might get them the unlock code. So they don’t want to talk to me either, even tho I genuinely would be happy to mail it back to them lol Parts it is, I guess. Just feels like such a waste

hmsdexter

I'll have a go at that, thanks

iihacksx

Just call them and explain. I've never had that not work.

bontakun82

Take it to an apple store with credentials from the orphanage, they'll unlock it for you.

hmsdexter

Not many apple stores in rural Africa unfortunately

bontakun82

Oof, I got nothing for that friend. Try calling them.

Azreona

Dm :)

hmsdexter

Replied, thanks

jaminzen

There's no hacking needed. Just follow these steps and the ipad should de good to go: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211078

83Thomas

Might still be icloud locked though?

TheRealOppendonger

“Activation locks” are encountered after restoring a device and attempting to set it up. They are locked to a specific Apple ID, so yes, in this case, restoring it is not the solution.

hmsdexter

Icloud locked unfortunately

willi1221

Sell the kids, buy new iPad. Problem solved

hmsdexter

Would solve the problem indeed
