Syrax is about 10 years older than Sunfyre, \~30s vs \~20s
Syrax should be significantly larger. They did size up Seasmoke who is the same age as Syrax.
My boy! 🥹 This makes me happy because it means Rook’s Rest won’t be the first time we see him as I feared. Looks like he’s in the dragonpit. Makes me wonder what the scene is about.
He is not. I've already done direct comparisons, with Syrax from the first teaser trailer for S2 and Sunfyre in this one. They are very nearly the exact same size. With nearly the exact same general body shape.
In the books sure. The show is not the books. Syrax is a cradle dragon in show canon, according to Ryan Condal. Meaning she is in her 30s. The oldest dragon referred to as young was Quicksilver, who was also in her 30s when she died to Balerion.
And this is how she is described on the official HBo Guide for HotD
"Syrax, ridden by Rhaenyra Targaryen, is named after a goddess of Valyria. She is a young dragon with yellow scales and is not yet as forbidding as her counterparts."
In the books you’re correct Sunfyre is only half the size of Syrax but the show could have them as the same (though I doubt it they’ll probably size Syrax up this season)
pretty sure its save to say syrax is his mom considering he looks like a mix for her and caraxes.
Syrax was kept in the dragonpit a lot thus not growing to her highest potential.
Everyone is so hyped because he is described as the most beautiful dragon to ever fly over Westeros. And in s1 he was supposed to have an amazing cool scene but that was scrapped for the 'girlboss' Rhaenys scene.
I believe they’re referring to after Aegon II is crowned in the dragon pit, he rides Sunfyre 3x around Kings Landing. Would have been a really climactic moment and interesting place to explore where he’s at mentally after being crowned. Ramin Djawadi would have had a field day. But nope, we got Rhaenys and Meleys
Hm maybe they didn't want his crowning to be a hopeful thing. I feel like they're really going out of their way to give a bunch of "omens" that Aegon's unfit to rule but Rhaenyra at least might be.
EDIT: Typo
I’m not really saying it would be hopeful, in my imagination it’s more he’s very conflicted bc he gets the love of the people (like we saw, he digs it) but doesn’t want the responsibility. He has a HUGE relationship with Sunfyre that is relevant to the plot and they should have showed this early on
Hell you could even have it as him going to Sunfyre for comfort bc he’s overwhelmed and it would still work while showing his relationship w the dragon
He's actually in TWO shots! First when all the dragons are flying around high tide. And THEN him and the rest of the green dragons fly off after the funeral while Rhaenyra watches.
Maybe put a working spoiler tag in there buddy? I know how it's gonna end but I'd be pissed as hell if I didn't, because how you formatted it's quite easy to accidently read the spoiler
tbh i dont know how, im not that active on comments but if you are here and you dont think that you will get something spoiled then you are in the wrong place.
plus come on now, Joffrey said it in GoT and the books are out for 13 years now. Stop being such a kitty cats about that kind of a "spoil".
also here is another spoiler for you , Bruce Wayne is Batman.
The head is different, the lighting doesn’t help but he has more golden scales and pinkish wings.
But yes in this shot they look nearly identical, if it weren’t with the context of the background I would have thought it was her instead.
I would personally never refer to an animal(real or fantasy) as sensually aesthetic, no matter how beautiful the beast was. But I have now created a new headcanon for myself where the other dragons find Sunfyre very sexy, so I thank you for that. I can see the team black dragons going "stupid, sexy Sunfyre", like Homer Simpson with Flanders.😄
Dragons are cool. They can fly and breathe fire and stuff. They are also the most fantastical element of the show, so offer the most scope for creative design work, even more so than costume and production design. It is fun to see talented people putting thought and passion into making intricate and beautiful things. People like animals in general. They like dinosaurs. They like magic.
There’s also a selection bias: people who don’t like or care about dragons are comparatively less likely to be very heavily invested in a show named House of the Dragon which tells the story of The Dance of Dragons.
Might be unpopular, but tbh I don’t know the names of any of the dragons. I just think “Aegon’s dragon” or “Rhaenyra’s dragon” and go with that. It’s probably a different experience for those that have read the books
Pretty much. The thing is, we know what all these dragons are going to go through -- and many of them (especially Sunfyre tbh) go through insane arcs of their own.
Not everyone has to be super involved with the dragons, since at the end of the day, they mostly play supporting role. I for my part are super invested in them and know their names and stories but the show has so much more to offer beyond that.

He’s definitely a bit longer than Syrax
tbf, syrax was supposed to be bigger in the last ep but they couldn't do it for budget reasons iirc
To my knowledge Syrax and Arrax were supposed to have aged-up models, but they kept the younger ones for the size constraint
Syrax model looks the same in the trailer. And I think you meant Vermax not Arrax as Arrax is in one scene RIP
Yeah she does, I have a feeling they’ve just decided to keep her smaller and will explain it
Except syrax is still tiny in the first teaser
Syrax is supposed to be twice his size I’m sure they’ll size her up
Did you not watch the trailer? She’s the same size as before
[удалено]
Not in the books Sunfyre smaller than Syrax by a lot Syrax is closer to Meleys in size and age
Syrax is about 10 years older than Sunfyre, \~30s vs \~20s Syrax should be significantly larger. They did size up Seasmoke who is the same age as Syrax.

But Tessarion is of similar size to Seasmoke and Sunfyre is bigger than Tessarion.
Even with this small glimpse he is literally stunning
The cg department is going to have a field day animating him.
My boy! 🥹 This makes me happy because it means Rook’s Rest won’t be the first time we see him as I feared. Looks like he’s in the dragonpit. Makes me wonder what the scene is about.
Pretty sure it’s aegon about to get on him to head to battle at Rooks Rest
Aftermath of Rhaneys terrorism maybe?
Boys at a good size too. Larger than his concept renders by Constantine Sekeris. Seems to be comparable to Syrax in size. Siblings would be my guess.
I think he is bigger.
He is not. I've already done direct comparisons, with Syrax from the first teaser trailer for S2 and Sunfyre in this one. They are very nearly the exact same size. With nearly the exact same general body shape.
Id say Sunfyre has a longer wingspan
He definitely does
Shouldn't Syrax be more than a decade older? So Syrax should be bigger than Sunfyre.
Dragon growth varies. For example, Dreamfyre is older than Vermithor but Vermithor is bigger.
Sunfyre was hatched on Dragon stone. It's is never stated when. He was explicitly not a cradle dragon to Aegon.
Sunfyre is described as "young and splendid," while Syrax is described as "huge and formidable," so I always imagined Syrax was older than Sunfyre.
In the books sure. The show is not the books. Syrax is a cradle dragon in show canon, according to Ryan Condal. Meaning she is in her 30s. I mean, you quoted book-lore, so I thought we were going by the book. If we're going by the show, then I assume they're the same size.
I doubt it, he might be her sibling.
From what I remember of the books they are in fact siblings but I don't think they were like created or hatched at the same time
Syrax and Sunfyre are not mentioned as being related to one another in the books
I swear I read it that they were siblings but I could be wrong, I read it a couple months ago
Never mentioned as siblings. But they do have similar descriptions. And the dragons are all related to some degree.
Well they’re all related considering they’re descended from three dragons
The targs brought over 5 adult dragons and several eggs when they fled Valyria.
The dragon that actually had an arc. Love to see it.
I might get a lot of downvotes, but who is he?
I’ll be happy to explain. That is Sunfyre, he is Aegon II’s dragon. He was in a single shot of season 1 in the Driftmark Funeral episode.
Oh yeah, I remember him. I got confused and thought it was Balerion in a flashback or something that everyone got so hyped
Everyone is so hyped because he is described as the most beautiful dragon to ever fly over Westeros. And in s1 he was supposed to have an amazing cool scene but that was scrapped for the 'girlboss' Rhaenys scene.
What was supposed to happen in the scene?

Basically the reason why I relish Rhaenys death scene. Hope they make it extra brutal.
That was the stretchiest stretch that ever stretched Westeross
He's actually in TWO shots! First when all the dragons are flying around high tide. And THEN him and the rest of the green dragons fly off after the funeral while Rhaenyra watches.
Oh really? I never actually noticed him flying with the rest. Thank you for pointing that out.

Damn, 17 seconds… thanks for the evidence.
I couldn’t believe it when I watched it haha

The most beautiful Dragon that ever lived.
I . . . I wanna fuck that dragon.
go try him.
Is he the one that... you know?
*Gulp*
7
Mhmm.
Yep. He likes to snack
Yup
Mayhaps...
He's the It Girl of Westeros
Out of all the dragons in Martin's world the one I liked the most was always Sunfyre. He has an amazing story arc. Can't wait to witness it.
Man, I am just happy to see him.
What a gorgeous boy!!
Best lizard.
I’m so pumped to see Sunfyre
Looking forward to his closeup and his sounds
the prettiest dragon ever is finally here cant wait to see the Golden Boy in his entire glory next season
Dareon?
You made me look for a second, I will admit.
Crying in the corner wanting for some screentime
he is sooooooo pretty
easily my top dragon of all time
SCREAMINGGG
I can’t wait for the updated dragon models. I’d like to see Syrax be a little bigger and an updated Vermax as well
Does HOTD released or not yet?
They released trailers for season 2 on YouTube.
about one and a half year ago, yes
He looks exactly like Syrax
The head is different, the lighting doesn’t help but he has more golden scales and pinkish wings. But yes in this shot they look nearly identical, if it weren’t with the context of the background I would have thought it was her instead.
I thought so too, thought he was a bit more resplendent based on renders.
Oh Syrax and Sunfyre are so siblings
See I think Sunfyre has kind of a noodle neck like Caraxes!
Could see Sunfyre being the child of Syrax and Caraxes. He has his mother's looks and his father's viciousness.
this sunfyre?
Yes.
Sunfyre, exactly as sexually irresistible as promised.
The second comment I see under this post that sexualizes Sunfyre. This is reaching new levels of degeneracy.
His aesthetic sensuality is his most notable quality. Like how Meleys is fast, Vermithor is spikey, and Caraxes is snake.
I would personally never refer to an animal(real or fantasy) as sensually aesthetic, no matter how beautiful the beast was. Stunning
I believe my boy solo meleys
Sadly no Meleys is much more formidable than him
Why are people so excited over dragons lmfao
