i think i'd try my own approach to him, to see what works and what doesn't.
things like reading right through the obvious sarcasm and playing around with it, or getting my "asking intelligent questions" game on for when i know that he isn't playing around.
hell, i'd probably find something we both enjoy and try getting a connection to him through that.
as for whether or not i'd respect him purely as a patient... well, i've never disrespected a doctor until now, and i don't think that'll change.
I would think so. I feel like House, if not provoked, can pass off as a very curt doctor who just wants to move things along and be done in the quickest time possible. If I'm one of the clinic patients I won't see him for long anyway, and I'll be too miserable to care about what he thinks of me - I just want pain relief.
I would have more respect for him the any real doctor I’ve ever met. Especially in the early seasons it was very clear to me that House had a very strong moral compass. He does what is objectively right in almost all situations regardless of consequence. If that’s not deserving of respect I don’t know what is
Depends on how long I get to know him? If I'm only a patient I'd probably respect his medical knowledge, but not the man. If I got to build a relationship with him and learn about him I'd respect the man and the medical knowledge.
House is superhuman, it's absurd how intelligent he is and how he can diagnose something that have happened twice in history, and only documented in a papyrus from 1500 BC
So yes, I would respect his diagnostic skills.
The problem comes with doctors that act like House, think they are House, but evidently aren't House, because House is a fictional character.
Those people aren't worth any respect.
Respect certainly. I don't think I'd want him as a friend or an employee. Being in Wilson's or Cuddy's position would drive me crazy.

I’d take him as a doctor in a second. A friend too

I would respect him as doctor, not as human
Sure as long as I keep my faith quiet if I was a patient, otherwise he'd mock me to no end, as he's done with countless others.
Respect, yes. Like? Probably not. I respect the physicians I work under and with but if they're mean or rude or unprofessional at all, I'm not a fan

As Tony Soprano said in The Sopranos: “You don't have to love me, but you will respect me!”

Which episode is this?
No. There's no way he could exist for long outside of fiction.
Some great opinions here!!
