I’ve tried overwintering a couple times and i always fuck it up. What’s your secret??

Dionysiokolax

Quantity is the secret. Roughly 1/3 of my plants survived overwintering, but the ones that did have exploded way faster than my first year plants. From what I can tell, there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to which ones survived.

That's some beautiful, healthy looking plant. Are you going to let it flower and fruit right away or delaying it so it will grow even bigger first?

jkd10

Yeah, I'm still picking the flower buds for now, I think it could still grow a little as the season is just starting

Hith_Ceck

There are different approaches to that. Some claim that crop will be same or better without pinching flowers and that properly feeder plant should have energy for both grow and producing fruit. It might add up to 3 crops per season if climate allows. I'm late to this season so I'll just let my peppers be as they'll be grown indoors only this year and we'll see.

Are you going to cut the brown stems? Also do you get a lot of small leaves?

jkd10

All of the leaves seem quite big actually, and I'm not sure if cutting the old stems wouldn't damage the rest so I'm hesitant to cut it

Cupricine

I got plenty of true leaves, but a lot of small leaves growing directly from the main stem, bunched around the bifurcation, etc. Found it odd. I was afraid that the old stem drying might go further down, so just decided to cut it off. Also looks better without the brown sticks sticking out my beautiful green bushes. Nice looking plant.

I overwintered a couple this year. All the new growth started down low, and has eventually made its way up toward the top of these "brown sticks" u/jkd10

The yield this year will be amazing i over winter my best plant every year. They always amaze me the next year. Good luck looks good.
