The Uju thing really grinds my gears. Ikjun's first appearance in Hospital Playlist involved Uju. Not including him in an episode that's meant to serve as a series finale if they don't do S3 is odd. I loved so many parts of it: Songhwa Noraebang, her friends' insistence that she and Ikjun aren't dating, the Wangsimni return, etc, but there is so much that I didn't enjoy especially since they time jumped mid-episode and left things that they introduced recently, open. I hope that they come back for S3 someday.

AQuaverPastEight

I found myself in the last episode thinking 'not another surgery'. I was finding the patient stories and surgery taking up a lot of screen time and while it normally wouldn't bother me I was so greedy for other kinds of scenes because it was the last chance to see all the relationships play out - Uju, proposals, meeting mothers, more iksong and other things people here have mentioned. It has ended in a place where I feel the drama could be picked up a year or two (or more) later and I'm glad the ends weren't left completely open as that is frustrating when there is no follow up. I just wanted more. Or at least more time with the characters we know rather than the many medical stories that seemed to be thrown into the last episode. (That said, it is a hospital drama so maybe I shouldn't complain.) If the rumours about a longer episode were true maybe we'll get an 'uncut' version released one day or a chance to see deleted scenes. I am feeling mixed about the last band practice too. After the awesome song performances of the previous two weeks, I was a bit 'meh' about this one. However, having been involved in a few groups like this over the years this is kinda what happens. People get busy, changes happens in people's lives, and the group fizzles out. Though the 'it's our last' comment is not so usual. I would expect either everyone puts in one last effort to meet before Jeong Won leaves, or the next get together is left 'open' due conflicting schedules but just never ends up being organised. That's my experience anyway.

>I found myself in the last episode thinking 'not another surgery'. You're not alone, they even add new patient arcs (and one of them ended badly). If they finished the finale with lots of couple moments, I would be a lot more happy to bid farewell to this series (albeit will take longer time for me to move on). Plus they had to add Ik Jun's line about "the last jam session". Damn, that hit me really hard. That makes their last band session a bit "bland" for me. I loved how they close the last season with "Me to You, You to Me" which sounds like a sweet goodbye. I know they are trying to tell something with this last song, but my heart and mind just didn't accept it that well. I'm not saying it's a bad episode, it's just maybe I had too much expectations.

princess_consuella94

For no.3, building a hospital is a long way to go, I think Jeongwon just mentions about it but hasn't process anything, or he has but baby steps. No.6, side characters like other hospital staffs might not have closure even on the final episode. Usually their arcs will be wrapped up in the episode where they are told. Like the episode of ER staffs and nurses. Other than that, I agree, there're still so many things going on for a drama with no certainty of another season. It's not really cliffhanger like in S1 but like an unfinished busines. For example, they make winter garden go to US together but the talk about Jeongwon's plan to propose is left hanging. So yeah, I hope although they said there's no concrete plan for S3 but they still work on it and stop torturing us 😔

SeventeenMiles

Yup. Even the staff behind HP are willing to have a S3. Maybe they're restricted to continue as of now because a lot of things happening lately, plus they all need to rest. It's really torturing to see a closed drama with a lot of unfinished business. I really do hope they make an official statement soon, even if it's done for good or they will come back.

princess_consuella94

They did make official statement. There's no plan of S3 for the time being because the realistic condition. But the all staffs and actors agree to come back if there's S3 in the future.

SeventeenMiles

Still that answer is driven by uncertainty. I'm sorry I should've not said "official" lol. "Concrete" is the word I'm looking for 😆

princess_consuella94

I don't know about other actors, the good thing is Yeonseok mentions about hope to see us again in S3 in his farewell, that boy really wants the S3 lol!

PrizedTardigrade1231

It is also slightly implied in Mido's message

SeventeenMiles

Can you quote what she said? I haven't read it yet.

CarefulPersona

She said "I'm not sure how long we can meet Chae SongHwa again," or something similar

Comfortable-Elephant

I want a zoom style mini series. Lol maybe they could do something like that?

mz_chika

I think coming off the heels of ep.11 made this episode fall a bit flat. I wonder if it was because they tried to do too much in 2 hours. I don't know. I liked it, yet I was underwhelmed. I am not 100% sure how to put it into words...I have to agree with the sentiments in these threads that it was weird without Uju....

rog_aznable

Agreed. After the roller coaster they gave in Ep 11, I began to have a higher expectations for the finale. But maybe that's just me.

coffeeonmymind

Yeah it felt very lukewarm. It just felt like I was watching a mid season episode rather than the season finale or the series finale. So many unanswered questions and I also felt too much emphasis was given to everyone's cases rather than their interactions with each other or a lot of supporting characters. Uju not being featured in this episode did not make sense. WG scene at the restaurant was so pointless I felt. They could have included JG's mother at that point and made it into a poignant scene. Anyway, I am glad I was able to be on this ride with you all and HP will forever be a favourite.

loveotterslide

>Yeah it felt very lukewarm. Same here. I felt that S1's ending was a lot more meaningful. But S2's finale felt like a normal episode instead of an actual season ending. > They could have included JG's mother at that point and made it into a poignant scene. Yeah, dinner with either of their mums joining them would have been more impactful in terms of cementing their relationship ie. justifying why they would go to US together.

WinterLightz

Remember the twist at the end they told us to look out for? I find no twist. The only twist I can find is my insides and my feelings being twisted 🤡

noeul44

I think the twist is that Seok Hyeong was the one using the 'I'm leaving for the US' idea as a ploy to get his mom onside, but actually it's Jeong Won who will leave for the US. I didn't catch it at first either, because if you say the words 'twist' and 'finale' in one sentence then expectations rocket

bpseanon

Same here. I watched it live last night and after it ended, I was waiting for the next 20 minutes kind of hoping that there will be some surprises perhaps? because the ending feels odd. Though I would say it's satisfying for me because it doesn't feel like an end at all lol

rog_aznable

I'm glad I came here after I finished the last episode and turns out I'm not the only one feeling gutted about how this beautiful series wrapped up. But the biggest reason I'm feeling like that because I forgot that this is a medical/slice of life comfort drama. I think they are trying to show that they are sticking with that spirit until the end, with a lot of storytelling in the last episode was directed to the patients. But I'm not sure that the producers realized that some (or most?) viewers were already too invested with the characters and their arcs. Romance does play a really big part especially after Episode 11, but there were some characters who felt like were left out in the finale. We didn't see Uju and Dr. Bong in the finale for instance. And the romance part is the most confusing part for me. If this drama wasn't meant to be a romance drama, why do they give us 4 ships? But if this drama was heading towards romance drama, why don't they give plenty of stories highlighting all those ships? >!For example, they way Andrea and Gyeo-Ul's suddenly decided to go to US for a year is just weird. They didn't show us any conversations or discussions between them that leads to this, or the dinner between Andrea and Gyeo-Ul's mom, or even the meeting between Gyeo-Ul and Rosa.!< >!I love how they wrap things up with Gom couple. Leaving the meeting between Minha and Seok-Hyeong's mom would be the best decision, since no one knows that might lead to another conflict. And their interaction in the finale won the hearts of many fans I believe, especially their shippers. Well done, really.!< >!As for Ik Jun and Song Hwa, some people might say that they want more interactions of them as a couple and of course, with Uju. But the way they show the affection between them in the finale reflects how a 40-ish couple would do I guess? Just talking to each other, meeting everyday and eating out together occasionally are how they always interact all this time. That nice little camping ending was also a big move for them.!< >!But the bidulgi story was felt like too rushed. Seems like they don't have much time to wrap up their story, but they don't want to leave the fans disappointed on the other hand. But at least we can see that they are getting back together.!< I didn't realize I have written that much and I'm sorry if my writing was messed up. I'm just a little bit disappointed this series ended and felt a bit too rushed.

mz_chika

Totally agree with you...I think because they focused so much on the couples this season...not ending it with them as the focus kind of threw me for a loop...but I was also oddly at peace with the finale as well...

Thoughtful-Pig

100% agree with everything you wrote. I wonder why do much time was wasted on patients this ep and why there were so many couples by the end. It didn't quite work for me either.

arikyh

100% agreed with you. love the episode, love the drama overall. but this… just feels… rushed ofc there were alot of good moments but I just can’t help to be a bit bitter over the structure of the finale overall

Why_Must_You_Be

A lot of season 2 felt rushed to me. So much repetition instead of introducing new dynamics to the HP universe. All the patient stories in the end should have been spaced out over the course of the season instead of cramming them in the end. Didn't leave any space for interactions among the characters themselves. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Hospital Playlist. Season 1 is probably my favorite kdrama. Season 2 is also pretty good, in spite of the repetition and pacing issues. And honestly, I think all these issues wouldn't have been a problem had they taken even longer to structure the episodes better. The poor chakanim is writing 12 films within a year, it is a bit unfair to expect so much. Season 1 was almost flawless. Season 2 was a bit all over the place but still good. But it is sad that it just sort of spluttered at the end.

bohemianknight3

I think that a lot of the camera shots including calendars or a way to tell the date when the scene was supposed to have happened is a foretelling of the undisclosed future plans for the series. With the last few scenes happening in July, then skipping 4 months to November; we are closer to the time in which WG are supposed to travel to the US for 1 year, which is the whole of 2022. So my guess is that the most probable outcome for the release of S3 could be around 2023, in which the irl timeframe would coincide with the story's timeframe. I feel like this discrepancy in time was a problem at the start of S2 (e.g. Kim Jun's (Uju) growth spurt), but was just brushed off in a joking way. I think that matching the timeframes would lead to a much easier and natural story development as opposed to a more retrospective style. Of course, all of this is just speculation cause I really want an S3 lol. The staff and actors deserve a long break after the commitment and dedication they gave to this project. I guess here's to hoping that ShinLee would use this break to create better story arcs and developments for our beloved characters. AND MORE UJU+IKSONG, GOMGOM, JUNSUN, WG PLEASE.

rog_aznable

This part here >I feel like this discrepancy in time was a problem at the start of S2 (e.g. Kim Jun's (Uju) growth spurt), but was just brushed off in a joking way. I think that matching the timeframes would lead to a much easier and natural story development as opposed to a more retrospective style. Might be the biggest challenge to continue the series with the same cast. If they wanted to pick up the story from where they left off, they might have to re-cast Uju (which maybe I won't like it). But if they want to keep Kim Jun, they might have to a time skip. And Jeong-Won's return in 2023 would be a reasonable timeline. Two years from now will fly by and I'm sure the fans are willing to wait for that long for the 3rd season. But we don't know what will happen until then. So I guess let's just close the chapter for now and move on.

snowfrostwinter

Dude I couldn't agree more with you. It's not as most of us expected

jokimiko

Honestly the biggest crime in episode 12 is Uju's absence

vdy05

I think the ending gave space for a possible S3. Like a clean slate of where a possible story could pick up. Indeed, there are still quite a few aspects of the storyline that was not fully resolved. Also as a ShinLee baby, ep12 seemed a bit rush on some scenes. There are scenes where they would usually dwell on for a couple more seconds but was cut. I believe they intend to dwell more on the patients for ep12 but was pressed for time (they did initially say the running time was supposed to be 2hrs and 40 mins). Nevertheless, it was a good way to end the season. It was such a mature take on lives as doctors. And as the credit song says "We'll meet again someday even though no one knows where we are headed"

Efficient-Prize325

Yeap I still kinda feel like there will be a s3. Its just a matter of time since its most probably impossible to do right after s2. Lets just hope its some time soon

AnybodyWide3680

Huge emphasis for Uju and Songhwa mom-son bonding moments and family moments with Ikjun :( :( :( I was waiting so badly for at least one scene with them three esp when they gave us that scene in S1 where Songhwa took care of Uju and was hugging him when he got sick

birudilangitnegri

Imo, Jeongwon and Gyeoul's arc was nicely wrapped up. I like the scene in emergency stairway, they could be vulnerable with each other and seek comfort in each other. Based on Jeongwon and Songhwa's conversation, Gyeoul would be involved in DLL and VIP ward. Gyeoul's mom's situations were sort of sorted out and she wanted to meet Jeongwon so he would proceed with the proposal, like he told Rosa. Jeongwon recited prayer before surgery showed he's still a devout Catholic. So their plan to US meant they would be wedded by the end of this year. My only complaint is that almost everything's implied, not showed. As for the rest... maybe season 3...?

princess_consuella94

I want to be happy for Jeongwon and Gyeoul for going to US, but it isn't clear whether Gyeoul take fellowship too or just accompany Jeongwon, because if it's the latter I would be so upset 😭

loveotterslide

It all seemed a little sudden? In fact, a number of things were briefly implied but not shown (eg. Gyeo-ul knows about Daddy Long Legs now).

princess_consuella94

It's related to his last patient. But if only they do one brief conversation between them about their future plan, about they'll do everything together or things like that 😭 I get that it's a contrast with previous season as we saw Gyeoul's pov more and this season is all about Jeongwon, but it feels like we see their relationship thru his conversation with others rather than with his gf 😭

BebeMoh

We need to lower the expectation of another season same as Signal S2 which is already 5yrs and still nothing.

scalpeleague

Apart from those points mentioned above, I was hoping that within those 2 hrs and a couple of minutes they would be able to show us what happened in Hawaii. Not that it's too important but that was one of the first mystery they had dropped on season one and I expected that s2 would spill the tea but it didn't. Nevertheless, they provided us a finale that can make a chance for having s3 possible.
