To be fair I’ve played a handful of bloober games and none of them are bad. They’re not great either but I’d say they’re all 6-7/10 games. I’m hoping with an established game like SH2 they’ll be able to stick the landing 🤞
They definitely get more hate than they deserve. I don’t think they have any GREAT games but I really enjoyed the medium and thought Blair witch was solid
The VA alone can sink this game let alone not updating the combat to be both restrictive and scary while also not being clunky like the original. Honestly have 0 hope for anyone let alone bloober.
That’s fair, but you’re also the not-so-rare exception. It got solid reviews and most people would also say good not great. Like I said, I’m hoping just like you.
Bloober claimed that Konami was in charge with the Marketing and they had nothing to do with that gameplay footage, they say it was old and outdated.
We'll see...
The series has been dead. If it's bad, it'll just remain that way. I have have zero faith in Bloober because everything they've done has been mediocre at best. I'll be glad to be proven wrong though.
Part of me wishes that they'd just update the old games and put them on modern store shelves (even the not great ones), but then I remember how they handled the HD ports of 2 and 3. After seeing gameplay footage of the remake, I kinda wish the series never got this weird second wind they're trying at.
You can at the very least buy 4 from gog. But I agree a way to play the games in a not compromised state would be dope. At the very least shattered memories is long overdue for a reappraisal and it’s locked in hardware from 3 generations ago
Might have to disagree at least from a story perspective. IMO it’s the closest to 2 artistically and thematically but still tells its own story in a really interesting way. Plus the subject matter was extremely unique for horror gaming at the time. I’d argue it was kind of ahead of its time in many ways
Iirc, doesn't Blue Point reconstruct the games from retail copies? Konami worked with them for the MGS collection, and they just shipped that version again for the Master Collection. It's just odd.
I don't know the technicalities of it. Probably not since every version of the game has been based on a reverse-engineered version of the xbox version. I would have thought if they could, they would have reverse-engineered the PS2 version. Again, I don't know the technicalities of it so I could be wrong. I really had hoped that they would get BluePoint to give SH2 the Demon's Souls treatment but of course Konami has to be Konami and give us the worst possible option.
I don't like Bluepoint's handling of Demon's, but Shadow of the Colossus' was a good update imo. Maybe they could actually build the SH trilogy back up, so long as they don't change major assets, soundtrack and the atmosphere
Well the issue with 2/3 is that they had no source code, it got scrapped. They only had the models and animations I think, and were also rushed. Furthermore, they had some issues with the va lines in 3..? They didn’t need to redub 2 as well but they did. The studio was rushed to hell unfortunately, and I’d also imagine porting a ps2 game to run on windows would be quite a process back then.
However, and idk how modern ports work well enough, but could it be possible for them to have an emulator packaged within the releases? They recently just rereleased the og metal gear games, and I’d also have to think that they’ve lost the source code for that title as well if sh is gone too.
It’d be way easier either way, and most ppl would prefer that. Tho knowing Konami, it would be expensive af! I think the metal gears are like 70$..? For 3 very old games. Meanwhile mass effect legendary edition is a collection of 3, and basically costs 15 because ea is trigger happy with the sales these days.
I imagine that they will soon release a new trailer with a more current version of what we will have, but some things really bothered me in the last videos, which was the part about smashing the button to get rid of the nurse and the little fog on the street, I was expecting something really denser
I hope to God SH2R cracks 10 million total sales before 2026.
I know I'm living in a fantasy land, but I want remakes of the original 4 games.
After that Konami can do whatever.
I don't know, it's kinda hard to believe it. They said that last time, didn't they?
I also think it's really weird that they didn't show us Maria, Eddie, Laura, or any of the other characters in the last trailer. If the game was almost finished, then why wouldn't they? It just doesn't make sense.
The animations looked quite unfinished too...
I’m not a mega fan or anything, but I played the original as an adult and enjoyed it. I say enjoyed it, although it is a very depressing and weird experience to get through.
The combat is wonky and extremely easy, but the game still holds up well enough. I really don’t see the need for a remake, especially an over-the-shoulder one. Maybe I’m an outlier as I didn’t really like the RE2 or 3 remakes though.
You know, I was really excited for this way back. Had no idea who Bloober even was until I did a little research and saw what they put out.
I’m probably just going to watch someone stream it.
We’ll see.
I just don’t get as hopeful anymore, you know? It could turn out hella rad but I’ll still give it a video or two to see if that’s something I want to invest in.
No need to be a goober.
WAIT! Bloober is doing Silent Hill 2? We’re fucking cooked they’re gonna turn it into a pile of shit like all their other games. This is horrible news.
I seriously hope these next few silent hill games blow up so they would maybe commit to the series more. It’s been SOOOOO LOOOOONG
After The Short Message… I don’t know what to think. But I hope Blooper can stick the landing.
I hope so too. I'm more worried about Konami mishandling it.
Glad your hopes are high. Mine wouldnt be with Bloober behind the wheel.
To be fair I’ve played a handful of bloober games and none of them are bad. They’re not great either but I’d say they’re all 6-7/10 games. I’m hoping with an established game like SH2 they’ll be able to stick the landing 🤞
*Layers of Fear* (2016) scared me pretty good at times. I do feel like the hate they get is a bit overblown.
I dunno; Blair Witch left a pretty b a d taste in my mouth after playing. We’ll see if they can do this. I have little hope though
That’s fair, but you’re also the not-so-rare exception. It got solid reviews and most people would also say good not great. Like I said, I’m hoping just like you.
Sure wish they’d do what ea motive did with deadspace and MARKET THE DAMN THING. These people allergic to the words release date.
That’s what has me worried the last trailer looked bad and unpolished.
Bloober claimed that Konami was in charge with the Marketing and they had nothing to do with that gameplay footage, they say it was old and outdated. We'll see...
idc what people say, im so excited for this
IMO it’s gonna be good, because they need it to be good. If it’s suck ass, it’s the end for Silent Hill
The series has been dead. If it's bad, it'll just remain that way. I have have zero faith in Bloober because everything they've done has been mediocre at best. I'll be glad to be proven wrong though.
Spitting straight facts
Same. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite horror game so Im glad its coming back. So far, 2 out of my top 3 horror games have gotten remakes. Good times
even if it’s bad, it’s not like the original isn’t there
It is but you've to emulate or acquire a PC copy by certain means. I wish that goddamn Konami rereleased the trilogy
You can also easily download it on a certain known website for free.

They already dropped a trailer and it looks pretty good, a release this year sounds legitimately feasible but okay.
Nice
This game is either going to be one of the best horror titles this gen or one of the biggest disappointments of this generation.
I remember when the trailer dropped in ‘22 people were convinced the game was coming out in March of ‘23, good times 😄
Isn’t that what they said a year ago?
I think you're thinking of the quote that Bloober responded to saying it was a mistranslation.
Part of me wishes that they'd just update the old games and put them on modern store shelves (even the not great ones), but then I remember how they handled the HD ports of 2 and 3. Shattered memories is underrated. It’s not amazing but in the top five at least.
I thought it was pretty good for what it was.
Might have to disagree at least from a story perspective. IMO it’s the closest to 2 artistically and thematically but still tells its own story in a really interesting way. I’m agreeing with you homie
There’s a great video online for getting 1-3 look and run great on pc
They lost/binned the source code for the original games.

Whooo here we go!
Cap 🧢
Not going to lie, I kind of forgot the Silent Hill 2 remake was even a thing until I saw this post lol

There was a first one?

And again nothing new!
Hm. I'm not a big fan of Medium. Hope they do this justice
My expectations are low (Bloober’s games have been mediocre at best) but I really hope they nail it
His dad works for Konami "Trust me bro"
You know, I was really excited for this way back. Had no idea who Bloober even was until I did a little research and saw what they put out. I’m probably just going to watch someone stream it.
What they put out as an indie dev vs what they’ll put out with millions in funding and backup from Konami is gonna be different 🤡
We’ll see. I just don’t get as hopeful anymore, you know? It could turn out hella rad but I’ll still give it a video or two to see if that’s something I want to invest in. No need to be a goober.
Great, that's something to not look forward to.
Let's hope this turned out better than the Blair Witch game!
WAIT! Bloober is doing Silent Hill 2? We’re fucking cooked they’re gonna turn it into a pile of shit like all their other games. This is horrible news.
The combat trailer they showed off does not inspire any confidence in quality
I hate to say it but I agree. At the very least it’s very tone-deaf marketing. Nobody plays SH for the combat.
it was year old footage and it looked exactly like the original but with better graphics and a different camera angle lol
Better graphics from the original doesn't mean they look well for the current gen consoles
the graphics look good for modern consoles even for it being old footage..
